What is Group 6's fascination with splitting the 18's comp all the time. Mossy has a fairly strong side that may not win the comp but will be very competitive yet the group in their wisdom put them in the 2's. They have won 2 of 3 games played and other teams havent won a game yet are in the 1's. Mossy now has kids that dont want to play because they want to test themselves in the stronger grade. Why cant they just keep one comp with a top 5. To improve you need to play strong sides and yes some games may blowout, that happens in any grade. Would they split 1st grade if their was blow outs. Its just rubbish |

Couldn't agree more Rusty. I think the group needs to treat the 18's like a senior comp since it is played on (mostly) Sundays with seniors. All or nothing. If you want it to be a junior comp, put them after the 16s on a Saturday. |

The CCKRLFC has agreed to terms with former Melbourne Storm and Cronulla Sharks halfback Russell Aitken, to captain and co-coach the club for the June 2014- September 2015 period. We welcome Russ to the club, as we look to put the tumult of the past three months well and truly behind us. |

Regardless of playing strength, IMO the U/18s have to follow the home & away vertical structure of their grade teams. Yes they may cop a flogging here and there, but from a developmental perspective, clubs need to know who in their U/18s can stand up in such situations and be developed to play 1st Grade for their clubs. Yes, splitting the draws may 'save' a couple of kids for a year or two, but when confronted with the reality of going to Grade in the following season, what happens then? You only get better by playing better... Dare I say it... 5 team comps are no good for anyone or the game... Is it time that a joint U/16 & U/18 League for Liverpool, Campbelltown & G6 was trialled- at least at a 1st Division level, possibly with lower divisions being kept separate? Keeping the players apart in the critical 15s- 18s age brackets hurts skill acquisition and puts them behind the 8-ball when time to play Harold Matthews or SG Ball, not to mention the long term development of kids to keep supplying our competition. |

Mossy is struggling in seniors and needs to rebuild club around the good juniors we have coming through. If they are not playing "A" football the good kids are going to end up at other clubs so they can play A football. "A" clubs are already circling our good kids like vultures trying to entice them away. If this happens it means Mossy will struggle for years to come and it will be years before they get 1st grade again if the Group lets this happen. Maybe that's what the Group wants. I would have thought getting Mossy back to a competitive level along with a strong Mittagong would be better for the Group as a whole |

I bet they end up at Mittagong as they are the only 18s "A" side in the district ,weakening one team to strengthen another is what will probably happen here. Moss Vale lose too many good juniors by these type of decisions, we've seen it time & time again its almost like the best mossy juniors are always handed to mittagong on a platter because they haven't a choice when it comes to playing and maintaining a standard they want to be at especially those who are group or wests rep players. |

While I am on the bandwagon and whinging about the group. The group has 3 unattached Reserve Grade sides. Here is how many home games each get: Warragamba 9 Oakdale 8 Moss Vale 2 This according to draw on Grp 6 website How is this fair? Wombats have 18's and 2 Div so can sort of understand. Mossy has 18's as well. Oakdale has one side. If the group dont want Mossy in competition why dont they say so. Absolute do-do |

Moss Vale were to my understanding the first club to float the idea of having an unattached reserve grade with G6 management and were told by the group that the only way it would be possible is to do this would be to follow Appin. The club agreed as it was made clear to them that it was either follow Appin or go back to second division which they did not want to do as their aim is to return to first grade as soon as possible with good 18s and junior's on the way. It was a quite a shock when the draw was released and it was realised we had very few home games and there was now two other unattached sides and both of them had equal home and away games. This was discussed with the management committee and there response was basically we cant do much to assist however if you like you can negotiate with clubs to try to get them to travel to Moss Vale when their games are at Appin and split their two sides and see how you go. In fairness to the G6 management at the time of the initial talks the Mossy committee was struggling to get volunteers and away games were looking like the only way the club may have been able to continue. However if the Mossy committee knew then what they know now with two other sides being unattached they would have no way agreed with it. Over the coming week Moss Vale will be sending an email out to all clubs that they are down to play against at Appin to ask their assistance in playing their Reserve Grade side at Moss Vale instead of Appin to allow the guys to have some home games. Without home games its going to be very hard to generate interest in the community and amongst young guys in the area to come and play for us let alone being able to raise a few funds. The committee and players realise this is a big ask on travelling clubs however it is only once throughout the season for each club so hopefully opposing clubs will be generous enough to accommodate. If it makes things easier Saturday night games would definitely be available and cheaper entry costs will be offered so players and supporters aren't paying full freight twice. So if any members of the forum are committee members for any other clubs please be mindful of our plight as we are serious about a return to first grade as soon as practically possible and home games are vital to our cause. |

Not quite right!. I know exactly what you are talking about, as we experienced the same opposition with the group when we aimed for 1st grade back in 2012, as we knew of not being able to get the players needed to field 1st grade we approached the group to have a stand alone reserve grade, exactly what was allowed in the 2010 season with the combined comp. We had asked for this to happen to allow us to build and would of had a competitive reserve grade, but was denied and let me say not emphatically either, it was a big NO and we were told either make the grade or concede defeat, as they would not allow Appin in the 2nd division comp for that year. A lot of players went elsewhere and left Appin with no teams competing. It is a case of what is convenient for the group, there decision should be based on the clubs and what they want not individuals with their own interests and ideals. Give the decision making back to the clubs to vote on. I also feel for the mossy club and what they are barking about with the 18's, but this has been happening for some time. My young bloke played for picton back in 2012, Picton won there first 4 games with a great 4 and against. The Oaks team went from when they split the 18's down to 2's then without a win were put back into 1's , with the group readjusting points tables on them occasions. Picton missed out on the semi' s that year on for and against. I also coached 18's back in 2011 with similar irregularities with the 18's comp. good or bad, 18's should be left as one comp and then maybe include a 17's comp and have a combined comp for the both 17's and 18's with other groups. Give the decision making and the power back to the club's who own the comp, cause without the clubs and players etc, there is no group. |
