Great afternoons footy at kirkham yesterday. I think it was obvious that there was a massive difference in the quality of the two first grade semis played. Picton v Camden was a classic game capped off by a huge drop goal to finish. Camden hung in there even when Picton were gaining control. Picton should be far to strong for narellan next week. |

Sorry that I am always negative Gal, I guess its that I disagree to much with what is happening - call me the moral compass if you like 5, 4 or 3 Wests Tigers players was too much when a) Narellan, or other clubs, didn't have any,and b) you guys had reserves & 18s so it wasn't critical they played Its a moot point now as those players didn't help your cause, though Thirlmere may argue that they missed a semi spot. |

Reading the wests fanatics FB page, Wests Magpies are putting in a Sydney Shield team, that along with East Campbelltown in Sydney Shield will more than likely see no players from Wests Magpies or Tigers return to the Group 6 Competition so clubs won't have this problem with Appin next year, Appin will be lucky to survive, yes 20% chance of being around next year. |

I thought it was an ordinary performance from Narellan, but they did well to win in the end. They were under the pump and fought back well. If you look at their roster, it's nothing compared to last year, and different even to the start of this year. They will have their work cut out this weekend, but strange things happen in finals |

No he wasn't allowed to play up.. A contracted wests local junior couldn't play for wests at a higher level after June 30 but other players can come back and play for which ever team week in week out... Strange!! |

This portability/transfer system needs an overhaul. Situations like that deprive players the opportunity to play rugby league and the only reason I can see why players like young Payne, Frazer (Jets), Bergamin (another from Mittagong) etc cant return to their club is some antiquated rule that revolves around this nominal 30 June cut off. Can anyone give a good reason why 30 June is important? All RL associations are under the one banner - ARLC - which has NRL, CRL and NSWRL under their auspices so players should, within reason, be able to move up and down as needed, not pigeon holed to one club and competition and never to lace a boot if parked by a higher competition for development purposes. Maybe all players need to nominate a junior club or senior club they can play for IF that opportunity eventuates eg Payne: Mittagong, West Magpies, West Tigers, NSW, Australia and he can move freely in that scope as required. This will eliminate decisions that can be illadvised, arbitrary or contrary to the interests of all parties. Pathways are good but can be detrimental if players are signed up but are not allowed to play footy for administration reasons only. |

3/4 tips right last week I'll have another crack 1sts Mittagong over Camden 13+ Picton over narellan 1-6 in a slug fest Reggie's Mittagong over thirlmere 1-6 Narellan over Picton 1-12 If this weather persist and it's mudpit I think jets and rams could cause upsets |

No I don't think they struggle in the wet I just think if it is wet it gives narellan a better chance to suck Picton into playing there style of game if it's dry Picton will find it a lot easier to play the game how they want same with the Camden game |

Fair point, but I honestly think Picton thrive in the wet. They had that game last week, but let the rams back in. Provo missed what is usually a regulation kick for him which would've made an 8 point lead and proved the difference at the end. Silly mistakes allowed Camden (all credit to them, they're a very good team) back into the game and they got the win after Browney's monster field goal (but where were our guys pressuring him???!!!). The week before, playing in the swamp, Picton were outstanding. Its easy to say "that's not rugby league", but we were outstanding in those conditions. With that backline, it's easy to think dry conditions suit us, but that's overlooking our forwards, especially the back row that all have great leg speed and mongo strength. It's a team full of guys that live for the rough, dirty stuff. Last week Matt White got put on the ground maybe a third of times he took a hit up. He's about 85kg playing against a monster forward pack. Peters IS the toughest player pound for pound in the group (sorry Paki) and Timmy Dengate picks up and dumps opposition forwards more than anyone else around. Bring on the wet I say!! Anyway, I haven't seen a group 6 program circulated this week (have I missed something??), so here is our team (not 100% sure of numbers, but positions are correct). 1. Donny Thompson 2. Rory Vale 3. Michael Lett 4. Jack Twist 5. Nick Taylor 6. Bryce Poisel 7. Tim Dengate 8. Kenny Ahovolo 9. Anthony Provost 10. Chris Bowers 11. Kiel Shephard 12. Alex Peters 13. Matt White 14. Brett Clarke 15. Brendan Shephard 16. Tiger Vatuvai 17. Blake Matthews |

He's not benched due to form or ability. He came back from Europe a few weeks back and then was sick as a dig with flu for a couple weeks after. Lost a fair bit of weight. Last week was his first game back. But, yes I remember that game. He was unstoppable. |

Great work by Mittagong to get to their 2nd consecutive Grand Final. They have a good roster and their second phase play is as good as I've seen by any group 6 side. Camden competed very well with them and had they not clocked off for a 10-15 minute period they very well may have been the first qualifier. Camden just fell off too many one one tackles during this period, and Mittagongs ability to exploit it was perfect. They are now faced with the unenviable task of taking on the seasoned September specialists in Picton, who put the cleaners through Narellan. Picton were definitely short of a gallop against Camden last time out and with the extra game under their belt this time round, I think they should start short priced favourites. Camden by no means are shot ducks, several of their players are in great form, particularly Chris Browne, who looks like he is as confident as ever, couple that with some good direction from Toddy Pes and good go forward they are still going to be tough to beat. My big concern for Camden is their out wide try scoring ability and defence, particularly without Nick Crouch, does anyone know if Mason Cerruto is back? |

Cheers Spud. He's ok. Confirmed no spinal damage, only muscular. He's keen as to play this week, bless him. Although he did say on Tuesday that it felt worse than on Sunday. He's getting a check up tomorrow, no use mucking around with neck injuries if there's any doubt. |
