RE: East Campbelltown Eagles RLFC – Media Release 13-07-2014 East Campbelltown Eagles RLFC travelled to H.E Leybutt Sporting Complex at Blacktown to play the Blacktown workers in the Round 15 NSW Rugby League Sydney Shield Competition. An understrength Eagles side missing many players from injury, had to step up and with the Wests Magpies in a similar predicament, this seen no players from the Magpies dropping back to the Eagles for today’s clash. Players out for today’s game where halves Wayde Dunley and Chris Standing, centres Philipo Sauvao and Limoni Kamuta, and front rowers PJ Hunt and Jimmy Laulilii. The Eagles took no time to get flying when Sam Hoare scored in the opening minutes and Stephen Harding converted for an early 6 nil lead, The Eagles had scored their second try in 5 minutes when some Sean Connor brilliance seen him go over for the second try for the Eagles and again Harding's conversion was successful. Blacktown then went on the attack and with good competitions and repeat sets, this seen them cross under the post for their first try with a cleaver inside play, the conversion was successful and Blacktown was back in the game at 12-6, 2 minutes before half time Blacktown got the equalizer with a converted try and the score was locked at 12 all at the break. The second half seen Blacktown starting to gain momentum with a lot of possession but the Eagles defence stood the test, It was stand in half back Sean Connor that again got the Eagles over the line at the 17 minute mark with another good individual try and again Harding converted for the Eagles to lead 18-12, The tight score seen both teams get restless and the game intensified with some aggressive defence, a little altercation seen the Eagles down to 12 men when Harding received 10 minutes in the bin at the 20 minute mark, This didn’t faze the Eagles when Sama Sauvao crossed next for the Eagles and Connor put the game in doubt with a fantastic conversion out wide and once again the Eagles had some breathing space at 24-12, Blacktown with 3 minutes to go ran in 2 tires in the last 3 minutes to finish the score line at 24-20 Best for the Eagles where: Craig Shipley, Sean Connor and Sam Hoare Try Scorers Sam Hoare Sama Sauvao Sean Connor 2 Goals Stephen Harding 3 from 3 Sean Connor 1 from 1 Next week’s match: The Eagles will take on Burwood North Ryde United at Waminda Oval this Sunday the 20th of July, with the kick off at 2.30pm; first game is at 11.30am. East Campbelltown Eagles Media Release 21st July 2014 On Sunday the 29th of July the East Campbelltown Eagles hosted Burwood North Ryde United at Waminda Oval and it took the guests no time at all to post first points and score two tries ealy in the game going to a 10 nil lead, the Eagles slow start was turned around when Mick Bradstock found himself in the right place to score next for the Eagles to trail 6-10, Burwood extended the lead scoring next and looked dangerous leading 16-6. It was a wakeup call the Eagles needed as they went on the attack running in three tries in the next 15 minutes, tries to Sean Connor, Wayde Dunley and Jarryd Eggleton and Harding kicking 2 from the 3 tries and the Eagles went into the break leading 22-16 The second half the Eagles came out firing and stepping up in defence, Wayde Dunley looking dangerous breaking the line on a number of occasions and setting up the next try to Stephen Harding and Harding converted his own try extending the lead to 28-16. Burwood was on the attack when flying winger Fusi Toutai intercepted and ran 80 meters before second rower Sama Sauvao scored for the Eagles and again Harding converted to lead 34-16 Jarryd Eggleton has been are great inclusion into the team mid season and was next to score under the posts of a Wayde Dunley pass and again Harding converted to go to 40-16 to the Eagles, Sean Connor looked certain to score next when he was taken off the ball giving the referee no other option but giving the Eagles a penalty try and Connor converted to finish the game at 46-16 Eagles coach Gary Potts said “it was a very pleasing second half, it was good to keep the opposition scoreless and our guys worked hard for the tries, we will see some players return from injury in the next few weeks that should strengthen our squad” Best for the Eagles where Wayde Dunley, Sean Connor, and Jarryd Eggleton This week’s game: Sunday the 27th of July, East Campbelltown Eagles V Wentworthville Magpies at Ringrose park Wentworthville at 1.15pm On the 3rd of August: OLD BOYS DAY, East Campbelltown Eagles V Mounties at Waminda Oval at 2.30pm Edited by Trent, Jul 22 2014, 10:47 PM.

East CAMPBELLTOWN Eagles will pay tribute to former player and popular local Ben Stevens. Ben Stevens took his own life in September 2012 at 22 years of age. On Sunday the 3rd of August, the East Campbelltown Eagles will play Mounties for the Benny Stevens Cup and raise money for local youth mental health foundation, Headspace. East Campbelltown Secretary Tammy Draper Said "Benny was a real competitor on the paddock, always gave his all and absolutely loved the game of Rugby League, He was always a joker and a really loveable guy, we all miss him so much” "If we can help Headspace and help one person or one family that would be great" A special Ben Steven’s jersey will feature the Headspace Logo on the front and display the colours of the three local clubs he played for, Macarthur Saints, East Campbelltown and Campbelltown City, the Western Suburbs Magpie Logo and colours will also be displayed as he played in the Wests Development Squads, East Campbelltown Eagles would also like to Thank the jersey sponsors Bettacrete Concrete, Andrew Ingram Carpentry, Around the Clock Pest Control, Dad and Dave’s Plumbing and Marshall Air All jerseys will be available for purchase by silent auction on the day with bids starting at $50. The Eagles where first to post points when front rower Jacob Nansen reached over the line to slam the ball down to score for the Eagles, and Harding converted for the Eagles to go to 6 Nil, Mounties took no time at all to find numbers down a short side to score in the corner to get back 6-4 The Eagles with Captain Wayde Dunley out in today’s clash, seen full back Sean Connor moved to half back, and Sean Connor showed great strength to score next for the Eagles and Harding added the two points for the Eagles to hit a 12-4 lead. In the next 20 minutes of play the Eagles blowing a number of certain scoring opportunities but Mounties made no mistakes running in two tries to level the scores right on half time 12 All The second half the defence from both sides was brutal putting on a great show for the massive crowd, but the Eagles slowly was winning field position with the wind in their wings, tries to Sam Hoare, Ronnie Palumbo, Fusi Toutai and Sean Connor scoring his second for the day, Harding on song kicking 3 from 4 in the second half. I would like to congratulate the East Campbelltown Eagles club for the effort on Sunday,both on and off the field.I went down to Waminda Oval on sunday with a few of the old boys and was amazed with the support the club was offering the Headspace organisation aswell as the family of former player Ben Stevens.Was a great turn out and a great day with a good game of footy on hand aswell. Thank you Claymore Panther, we had a NSWRL representative that attended the day as well as a couple of councillors, they all where impressed with the crowd, game and the organisation of the day, they where also impressed with the ground as the club has put a lot of money into the surface and it looks great for this time of year. The boys have secured a semi position already and have done an amazing job on the field considering the pre season we had. Our Club house is in the process of being built, so the future is looking awesome for the Eagles

WOW, What a game, go you Eagles East Campbelltown Eagles Media Release 18-8-2014 New South Wales Rugby League Sydney Shield Competition East Campbelltown Eagles 24 def Hills District Bulls 20 On Sunday the 1th of August the East Campbelltown Eagles played 8th placed Hills District Bulls at Crestwood Oval Baulkham Hills. The game was physical from the start and the referee let the game flow which made it a really good spectacle in the opening 20 minutes. It was the Eagles that posted first points when full back Chris Standing dived on a clever grubbing kick from hooker Sam Hoare to get the opening points of the game, it was an ugly attempt of conversion with stand in kicker Chris Standing that waved away for the Eagles to go into an early led 4-0, both teams showing signs of fatigue with the speed of the game and a couple of miss tackles from the Eagles seen Bulls run in their first converted try, 6-4 to the bulls. The Eagles dropping the ball from a back line play seen Bulls run their second try in for the day when’s bulls scooped up a loose ball to score in the corner, with 5 minutes before half time, a scuffle broke out between two front rowers, Seaso Sauvao and Bulls number 14 got 10 minutes in the bin while 2 other Eagles players were sent from the field for entering the fight leaving the Eagled down to 10 men, Bulls capitalized scoring right on half time and it looked grim for the Eagles going into the sheds down 16-4 at the break The Eagles quality fighting spirit they poses came out after the break to score first points to Cruise Iosesa in the corner, Standing conversion attempt missing the sticks, Bulls was next to score and with the players returning from the sin bin still leaving the Eagles down to 11 men for the remainder of the match, Eagles with a long way to go at 20-8, but possession started swinging the Eagles way, with a try to Sama Sauvao and Wayde Dunley taking over the kicking duties the kick just waved away and the Eagles still down 20-12, The Eagles on a roll and it was that man Cruise Iosesa that scored again to bring the game back to 20-18 with Dunley’s conversion being successful, the last 10 minutes of the game was a real nail bitter, Dunley and Hoare tacking control of the game steered the Eagles in the right direction that seen Cruise Iosesa score his hat trick for the day and Dunley landing the two points for the Eagles to sneak away with the win 24-20 Best for the Eagles where, Jimmy Laulilii, Wayde Dunley, Sam Hoare, Sama Sauvao and Cruise Iosesa Eagles Coach Gary Potts said, in my 20 years of coaching it has to be one of my top 5 gutsy wins I have ever seen, these guys were flat out but refused to give in, a quality we look forward to as we go towards semi final time Tries Chris Standing Sama Sauvao Cruise Iosesa 3 Goals Chris Standing 0 from 2 Wayde Dunley 2 from 3 This week’s game, Sunday the 24th of August at New Era Stadium Cabramatta at 1pm |

Media Release: 25th August 2014 Round 21 Sydney Shield East Campbelltown Eagles V Cabramatta Blues On Sunday the 24th of August the Eagles took on seventh place Cabramatta Blues, Cabramatta fighting for a place in the top eight while Eagles maintaining to keep in the top 4 position The Eagles came out firing and scored two early tries to Sam Hoare and Craig Shipley, the Eagles goal kicker Stephen Harding still on the side lines injured leaving the kicking to Wayde Dunley, Dunley missing the first two attempts for the Eagles to lead 8 nil, Eagles then blowing another two scoring opportunities before Cabramatta made immense with a lucky bounce to score under the posts 8-6, The Cabramatta centre was sent from the field with a head butt, and the Eagles used the extra man to score out wide to Sama Sauvao, Chris Standing stood up to the challenge to get the conversion. Cabra again hit back at the 30 minute mark and reduced the deficit to 2 points trailing 14-12, Wayde Dunley then scored next stepping a couple of defenders and put the ball down near the uprights, Standing’s conversion was successful the Eagles 20-12 up, Cabramatta scored a converted try right on half time to go into the sheds at 20-18 to the Eagles Second Half became a try fest with the defence from both teams becoming second fiddle, Cabra scored first with a converted try to hit the lead for the first time 24-20, the Eagles didn’t take long to get the lead back when busting winger Giovanni Vatuvai scored in the corner and Standings conversion was a beauty to get the Eagles back at 26-24, Eagles looked like they would go on with the game when Dunley scored his second and Standing again converted, but that wasn’t the case, poor discipline for the Eagles seen a number of penalties giving Cabra good field position and they made the most of it running in 3 converted tries to jump to a 42-32 lead with 10 minutes to go, the Eagles jumped into gear with a try to Lamoni Kamuta and Craig Shipley with Standing potting another conversion from the side line to level the game at 42 All Coach Gary Potts said, “Our defence was well below par today, and it’s not good going into the semi-finals, with a display like that, we were lucky with the draw today as Cabramatta was way the better team and more hungrier for the points” Best For the Eagles where Michael Bradstock, Jimmy Laulilii, and Chris Standing East Campbelltown Eagles 42 drew Cabramatta 42 Tries Giovanni Vatuai, Limoni Kamuta, Sama Sauvao, Sam Hoare, Craig Shipley 2, Wayde Dunley 2, Goals Wayde Dunley 0 from 2 Chris Standing 5 from 6 the next weeks match will see East Campbelltown Eagles play Burwood North Ryde on Sunday the 31st of August at TG Minler Reserve at 1.15pm. The Eagles travelled to Five Dock park to play Burwood North Ryde United in the Round 22 Sydney Shield Competition. It was flying winger Giovanni Vatuvai that done a line break that lead to a Wayde Dunley grubbing kick and Sean Connor try under the posts, Connor converted 6-0, Connor was in for his second try off a Sam Hoare short pass, Connor Converted 12-0, Hoare put in a brilliant kick for Sama Sauvao to score next to the posts Connor converted 18-0, with 20 minutes gone, a try to Burwood in the corner and the conversion was unsuccessful to put Burwood on the board at 18-4, Burwood scored again in the corner to fight back at 18-10, Wayde Dunley busted a gap and got a good off load that seen PJ Hunt crash over for a try under the posts, Connor converted 24-10, PJ scored his second try with 5 minutes before half time, Connor converted 30-10, Philipo Sauvao scored right on the stroke of half time, Connor missed the conversion for the Eagles to go into the break 34-10 The next 20 minutes came down to defense, Eagles blowing a couple of scoring opportunities but it was Burwood to posts first points at the 20 minute mark conversion was unsuccessful 34-14, Eagles hit back with a try to Rob Neave and Connor converted to go 40-14, Burwood try in the corner for the score 40-18 A converted Try to Burwood next to the posts for the score to go 40-24, Burwood scored again on full time and the conversion was successful to finish up 40-30, Coach Gary Potts said "we are so proud of the guys efforts and for the club to do so well is a credit to everyone, boys are looking forward to semis" Best for the Eagles where Philipo Sauvao, Jacob Nansen and Sam Hoare The Sydney Shield 1st Semi Final East Campbelltown V Wentworthville Saturday 6th September at Ringrose Park Wentworthville a 1.30pm kickoff |
