Our club has played in many Grand Finals, but this Grand Final was by far the best Grand Final to ever be a part of, The Grand Final lived to the Professionalism our club aspires to, the replay, the crowd and the atmosphere was absolutely awesome, NSWRL has to be congratulated on a fantastic day and thank god we were a part of the day making history for Campbelltown

Media Release: East Campbelltown Eagles Sydney Shield Premiers 2014

It has to be one of the most amazing turn a rounds in Rugby League history, The Campbelltown Eagles where kicked out of the Group 6 Competition mid season last year when a discrepancy over junior players eligibility, the club has stayed firm that the junior player information was correct and then were simply outvoted by the Group 6 Clubs and management

The Eagles coming up against Mounties, no doubt one of the toughest clubs in the state, huge Leagues Club backing and plenty of depth with player talent, Eagles on the other hand a Club that is supported by the community, with many local juniors and local businesses getting behind the Eagles

In front of a vocal crowd at Allianz Stadium the Eagles had made the big stage playing a tough Mounties opposition, the scene was set for an amazing Grand Final Clash.

The game went for 15 minutes with both teams testing each other’s defence, Eagles pushing up hard in defence seen Lamoni Kamuta scoop on the loose ball and run 90 meters before being run down by the Mounties defence, Eagles kept their composure to spread the ball the next play to see Fusi Toutai score in the corner, Stephen Harding converted for the Eagles to put first points at 6-0. Mounties with some possession was showing why they had made the Grand Final hitting back with 2 tries to go to a 8-6 lead. The Eagles unbelievably crossing the line 3 times but being held up over the line but credit to the Mounties great defence

Eagles lined speed was fast causing headaches to the Mounties attack, it was Sam Hoare that intercepted a Mounties pass and ran to score next to the uprights and again Harding converted for the Eagles to extend the lead at 12-8, Mounties right on the stroke of half time scored again to see the lead change once again and Mounties going into the half time break at 14-12

The second half seen Mounties score first and put pressure on the Eagles now being down 20-12, 15 minutes into the second half, The Eagles started to lift intensity and where lucky not to score when Cruise Iosefa was pushed out near the line, the Eagles again forcing repeat sets near the Mounties line seen big Giovanni Vatuvai show true inspiration to score for the Eagles and again Harding converted and it was back to 20-18.

A Penalty conversion from Harding levelled up the scores at 20 all and again Eagles where looking fitter and faster, it was a break made by Lamoni Kamuta that seen an off load to Cruise Iosefa to score in the corner for the Eagles and Harding’s conversion from the side line never looked like missing and the Eagles had hit the lead 26-20 with 7 minutes remaining, both sides throwing everything at each other but it was Chris Standing that put the icing on the cake with a field goal with a minute remaining to finish the score at 27-20

Eagles being the 2014 Sydney Shield Premiers

Man of the match was Sam Hoare

Players Player was Jimmy Laulilii

Tries
Fusi Totoui
Sam Hoare
Gio Vatuvai
Cruise Iosefa

Goals
Stephen Harding 5 from 6

Field Goal

Eagles can know claim Premierships in the Wests A Grade, Canterbury A Grade, Group 6 1st Grade, The CRL Claytons Cup and the Sydney Shield Competition to be the most successful club in the Campbelltown area of all time

Whilst I have retired from all junior league matters I was glad to hear that the green & gold will be alive and well in 2015. All Saints JRLFC has formed a committee for the 2015 season with new blood and energy. All Saints will be fielding an A grade (1st grade) and A reserves in the Sydney Combined Competition for 2015 with Coach Alan Fry and most of the senior players backing up for another season of rugby league at Hillier Oval. Also there will be a big drive to rebuild the number of junior teams. So if you are looking for a well run club with first class facilites where you can enjoy your rugby league then give All Saints a run in 2015.

Yes we are looking at the same squad, we may lose a couple from retirement, but the nucleus will remain, we are very excited to see three players return but we will announce that in good time.

East Campbelltown Eagles Rugby League Football Club named as 2014 Good Sports Club Award finalist

A fantastic off-field victory is being celebrated at East Campbelltown Eagles Rugby League Football Club, after it was named as a New South Wales Good Sports Club of the Year award finalist.

The Good Sports Awards recognise community clubs and people who show leadership in encouraging healthy behaviours to tackle alcohol, obesity and mental health issues through sport.

The Australian Drug Foundation’s pioneering Good Sports program works with more than 6,500 clubs nationwide to help them develop healthier and safer environments for their members, and create a healthier future for the great Australian sports club.

Good Sports New South Wales Manager, Nikki Woolley, said the club is building a bright future for sports lovers in the area.

“East Campbelltown Eagles Rugby League Football Club has gone above and beyond in promoting healthy attitudes towards responsible alcohol consumption. This recognition and $500 prize money is well-deserved – the club sets an example that the whole community can, and should, be proud of,” Ms Woolley said.

“Sport has the power to inspire, bring people together and help achieve dreams. We want to reward the people and clubs, such as East Campbelltown Eagles Rugby League Football Club, whose dream it is to see a healthier future for their communities.”

East Campbelltown Eagles Rugby League Football Club has taken a number of steps to ensure the club has a healthier relationship with alcohol and gives more back to the community.

There are strict guidelines regarding consumption of alcohol and a club official remains with players at after-match functions to keep them safe and monitor drinking behaviour.

The club has a good rapport with the local pub, whose staff have noticed a vast improvement in players’ behaviour. The pub offers a courtesy bus for players and club officials make sure players have a safe lift home.

The club also made a video commercial to raise awareness of domestic violence and players have given talks in local schools about the issue.

Club President Glen Harding said everyone involved was delighted that their hard work had been recognised as part of the 2014 Good Sports Awards.
“Our club is a leader in the community and we are proud that our guys are part of the Good Sports program,” said Mr Harding.
“Our players are role models for young men, so providing positive examples will make our club and our community a better place.”

Transport for NSW is the major supporter of Good Sports in New South Wales, helping Good Sports reduce the incidence of drink-driving and encourage safe driving among young drivers. Drink driving is a factor in around one in every five crashes in New South Wales where someone loses their life. In the Sydney region there were 3,510 crashes involving alcohol over the five year period 2008-2012. This resulted in 61 people killed and 2,374 people injured.

The Good Sports Awards are supported by Victor Sports – Australia’s leading supplier in medical sport supplies.

Having worked at many licenced venues within the Campbelltown/ Camden and Southern Highlands i wish i could say the same about other clubs but sadly i can't. Keep up the great work hats off to Glen Harding what a professional. On another note how is the SCC looking for next year? With Easts entering signs look positive that the competition is growing. :magpies:
