As we near mid season our team and club is heading in the right direction Red Eagle, there is always talk of players that are not loyal these days, but our players and club proves that wrong, we are fortunate to have such great loyalty and talent that has bought a winning culture to the club

And you are playing out of your skin Red Eagle, well done :correct:

Media Release: Round 9 Sydney Shield East Campbelltown Eagles V Hills District

The 3rd placed East Campbelltown Eagles took on 5th placed Hills District at Waminda Oval on Sunday the 18th of May, The 2012 Claytons Winning Cup team was heading into this game with a number of injuries to Michael Bradstock, Seaso Sauvao, Will Ahokava, Uati Isaako, and Leigh Middlemiss, this game was really going to test the depth of the Eagles outfit, but it took no time at all for the Eagles to stamp their authority with a try to Chris standing 7minuntes into the game, Stephen Harding converted for a 6-0 lead

Hooker Samuel Hoare was hit hard early in the game but it didn’t faze him as he was next to score for the Eagles and Harding’s Conversion waved away for a 10 -0 lead, It was all the Eagles and the speed they displayed out wide was giving the boys from the Hills nightmares when winger George Khori set up Limoni Kamuta for the Eagles next try, Harding conversion was successful to take it to 16-0

The Hills replied swiftly when a cleaver kick was put through for Ben Eisenhuth to score to bring it back to 6-16, The Eagles always looked dangerous through their mobile forward pack but really took it to Hills with some entertaining passing which seen try scoring machine Fusi Toutai to score to stretch the Eagles lead 22-6, Wayde Dunley was again weaving his magic and when he took on the line it opened up to see the Captain score under the posts and Harding once again converted for a 28-6 lead, with only 40 seconds left in the 1st half, Sean Conner showed pure class to score right before the hooter and the Eagles went into half time at 34-6

The Eagles straight from the kick off in the second half completed sets and pressured the Hills defence, and 6 minutes in Sama Sauvao showed great strength to score next and Sean Connor missed the conversion, at 38-6 Wayde Dunley broke the line to score his second for the day and Stephen Harding converted to go 44-6,

The Eagles then went to sleep and the Hills made them pay the price running in 3 tries in 10 minutes, to claw the score back to 44-24, that left the Eagles coaching staff disappointed, The Eagles did finish of the scoring with a try to Limoni Kamuta for his second of the day and Stephen Harding converted to finish the scores at East Campbelltown 50 defeated Hills District 24

Tries Wayde Dunley 2, Limoni Kamuta 2, Samuel Hoare, Chris Standing, Fusi Toutai, Sean Connor, Sama Sauvao,

Goals Stephen Harding 7 from 8, Sean Connor 0 from 1

The Eagles enjoy a much needed week off before lining up against Cabramatta on Saturday the 31st of May at Campbelltown Stadium

How long has Mick Stevens been playing NSW Cup?
Micky Stevens played his first game last week and this week Dayne Craig debut, our club this year also has a wealth of State Cup talent.

Lamoni Kamuta, Phillipo Sauvao, Wayde Dunley, Stephen Harding, Sama Sauvao, Jacob Nansen, Francis Lalu, Sam Hoare, and Ben Sauvao has all played State Cup,

We are so please as a club that our relationship with Wests Magpies is progressing players from the Macarthur Region

Went down to watch Moorebank take on St George, in what was a entertaining game of footy.

With both the Wests Magpies Ron Massey Cup team and the East Campbelltown Eagles Sydney Shield Team having a bye this weekend, I was not surprised to see Wests regulars Ronny Palumbo and Francis Laulu in the Moorebank team, as well as Easts regulars Jacob Nansen and Tom Morrison in the forward pack.
The Rams led at half time by 12 with Nansen providing great go forward and Palumbo running havoc out wide.
However the Dragons responded after the break scoring 26 unanswered points, with former Australian Schoolboy, Samoa representative and Panthers, Bulldogs, Cronulla and Roosters NRL squad member Pee Wee Moke and former Bulldogs NRL squad member Sene Tala leading the charge, scoring 2 tries a piece.Final Score 36-22

I must say I was surprised :cstars: The rules of the SCC state that you only have a limited number (8) of "Dual Registered" players that can drop down, and I thought they would be Shield players not Ron Massey players.

All Saints were offered to dual register Ron Massey players from Wests's to come down each week but out of loyalty to our players we declined that offer. :magpies:

We are now starting to regret that decision as we have suffered a massive injury toll over the last few weeks and took the field yesterday with only 12 players against last years Premiers Penshurst. All though we scored 1st and held that lead for about 20 mins, our 12 players started to tire and Penshurst full bench of 20 was rotated at will. Holes started to open and Penshurst exploited them well. Although the score blew out to 50-12 these guys never gave up even though their legs were not moving too well at the end.

Man of the match from the referee and Players Player was given to Tim Blunden playing a full game at prop, which is a big effort when your on the losing side and score like that against you. :correct:

Next week we play the Moorebank and already have doubts we can put a full side on the park again.
Hopefully Wests can get all the cards sorted as we had to fold our 3rd grade due to the exodus of 5 2nd Grade players and drag 3rds into 2nds but as their cards do not have a hole punched in the 2nd Grade position we cant use them to play at all.

I suppose we may have to eat humble pie for a while until we can get injured players back on deck.

There is still 4 weeks left to register to play this year so if any body would like to come on board for the rest of the season please call Alan Fry on 0417 686 005

They went to another club with an "alleged" offer to pay them but were rejected and nobody has seen them since. We wont have them back for the amount of disruption it has caused us, but they have to pay a transfer fee if they want to go elsewhere now, as we have paid for their regos.

East Campbelltown Sydney Shield had a 30 All draw with Cabramatta, it wasnt one of the Eagles best games, never less, you cant complain if you play bad and still take a point home.

Full match report to come

Poor form by them, they should have stayed loyal for the year, then changed! Guess it will hurt there hip pocket even more if they want to play this year.

Round 8 - All Saints had their first hitout against Moorebank Rams today winning 36-14.
Congratulations to Moorebank who played well with only 11 players. Tom Morrison did not play but Jarryd Eggleton made a good comeback. All Saints started with 11 of their 1st grade squad but had full numbers with the inclusion of some reserve graders (including Steve Obrien who is in his mid 40s) and one of our U/19s. Very wet conditions saw plenty of dropped ball, making it a less than a great game. Next week we all have a rest as there is no football over the long weekend. Our next game will be against the Undefeated St George Dragons ( whose assistant coach is Josh Reynolds). we are hoping we can get a few back from injury for this.

Media Release:

Round 10 Sydney Shield East Campbelltown Eagles V Cabramatta

The 3rd placed East Campbelltown Eagles took on Cabramatta at Campbelltown Stadium on Saturday the 31st of May in the Round 10 Sydney Shield Competition.

Cabramatta was first to post points in what started as a sloppy first 5 minutes for the Eagles dropping the ball on a number of occasions, which gave Cabramatta a simple opportunity to score the first try of the game to go to an 4-0 lead, The Eagles at the 12th minute hit back when big front rower PJ Hunt crashed over near the line and Harding converted. The lead was short lived when Cabramatta replied with another try at the 18th Minute mark going 8-6 up, the lead changing hands for the fourth time in 20 minutes when Tala Moposne scored in the corner for the Eagles and Harding had his kicking boot on slotting it from the corner for the Eagles to go back in front at 12-8.

The Eagles extended the lead when half Wayde Dunley scored a great solo try under the posts and with Harding conversion the Eagles raced to an 18-8 lead. With 6 minutes remaining before half time the Eagles through poor ball control gave up easy possession that seen Cabramatta run in 2 converted tries before half time for Cabramatta to go into the break 20-18 and the lead changing hands once again.

After the break Cabramatta was first to score and went to a 26-18 lead, at the 24th minute mark it was the Eagles front rower Jimmy Laulilli that scored next of a Sammy Hoare pass and Harding converted again to narrow the margin 26-24, with 10 minutes remaining Cabramatta extended the lead again when they crossed out wide, with the conversion unsuccessful, it gave Cabramatta a 6 point lead at 30-24, the Eagles with 6 minutes remaining scored when Front Rower Jimmy Laulilli bagged his second for the day and Harding once again converted to go 30 All. With the score line level the Eagles had a couple of opportunities to grab the victory before full time but bad handling that plagued the Eagles all game seen them walk away with a disappointing draw.

Coach Gary Potts said he was disappointed with the teams efforts and lack of respect for the ball, we find ourselves fortunate to be at the top end of the ladder but must keep in mind the level of competition and any team can beat us on our day if we don’t turn up, we will be looking at turning it around this week against Asquith

East Campbelltown 30 drew Cabramatta 30

Tries Jimmy Laulilli 2, Wayde Dunley, PJ Hunt, Tala Moposne,

Goals Stephen Harding 5 from 5

The Eagles take on Asquith at Lidcombe Oval this Saturday the 7th of June at 11.15am and Wests Magpies will also take on Asquith with the game being a special occasion for the Magpies with a return to Lidcombe day.

Tom Morrison played in the Sydney Shield Team, It was great to see Jarryd Eggleton back and he done well for his first hit out, Its a shame that the Moorebank side is the one that gets affected when we have injuries.

We have a number of players from Sydney Shield returning from injuries in the coming weeks.
