Campbelltown City Kangaroos RLFC has announced the signing of Drew Dalton as their 1st Grade Coach for season 2015. Dalton was the ‘Roos captain-coach throughout 2011-13, with the club making the finals in all 3 grades during 2013. Dalton remarked, “the playing group was definitely on the rise at the end of 2013. I needed a break from coaching and after the year off, I return refreshed to the task of getting the ‘Roos back up to the standards we were achieving in 2013”. Kangaroos’ Chairman Brian Brown congratulated Dalton on his return to the Club. “Drew did a great job 2011-13 to build a football club and team from scratch that was competitive in a tough League. He’s clearly the best credentialed coach residing in the Campbelltown- Liverpool area, and with a highly supportive, positive and motivated Board ready to back him and support the players, things are looking up”. A former Wests Magpies and Parramatta Eels NSW Cup premiership winner, Dalton is still undecided about whether or not to play in 2015. “I’ll start training and see how the body is. If there’s a young bloke who can do a better job, I won’t stand in his way. I’m happy to coach and get the best out of the boys who play for us. Our off- field is important too. New players coming to the club will feel a part of a big family. The Kangaroos will be again a Rugby League community in every sense of the phrase”. Dalton’s appointment marks the culmination of a number of changes for the City club, with a new Board taking control of the business and administration of the Club. Brown commented that, “we now have a Board with a wide and diverse skill set, business owners, a Solicitor, an Accountant, Rugby League people with the club’s best interests at heart. A lot of good people have returned to the club already”. A full-time employee with the NRL, Dalton pointed out that City’s players will have the benefit of up-to-date NRL coaching methods, with the emphasis on fun and enjoyment. “It’s not 1976 anymore. There are smarter and better ways to train and coach Rugby League now. Our players will benefit from that approach”. The Kangaroos train every Tuesday night until Christmas from 6.30pm at Fullwood Reserve Claymore. Enquiries can be made to Club Secretary Alex Melville on 0416 335 271. |

Bowral Kookaburras to return to senior rugby league in 2015 By Josh Bartlett http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/story/2704233/bowral-kookaburras-set-to-fly-again/?cs=264 ![]() Junior president Peter Howard, under 18s player Ollie Disher, new coaches Ian Disher and Daniel Sturm, secretary Peter Campbell, committee member Ian Ford and senior president Mick Galvin are excited about the Kookaburras future. Photos by Josh Bartlett IT'S the dawn of a new era for rugby league in Bowral. The Bowral Kookaburras return to senior football in 2015 and the club hopes to make an impression. More than four months remain until next season gets underway, but the Kookaburras have already secured two new coaches. Former Bowral junior Ian Disher has taken over the reins of the under 18s team. Daniel Sturm will be head coach in a grade to be decided, but possibly as high as reserves. Sturm, 33, boasts a comprehensive background in the sport. He spent numerous years at the Shellharbour Sharks as both a player and coach. Sturm had a hand in seven premierships for the Sharks and said he wanted Bowral to taste similar success. "I will bring a professional attitude," he said. "It's exciting and it's challenging, but there will be tough work ahead. It won't be handed to us on a platter." Sturm may be familiar to Highlanders, having held the position of head trainer at Moss Vale Dragons in 2005 and 2006. He lives in Bowral and works in Mittagong, but would travel down the coast to play football for Shellharbour. Sturm said the Kookaburras had a proud history in Group 6. "We want to build the future for Bowral. I am here long term, not for just one year," he said. "We'll work hard to keep Bowral's proud name out there." Disher played junior football at Bowral and his father Alan was a life member for the club. "I'm looking forward to getting the club back on its feet," he said. "I want to see kids back on the oval playing footy." "We want to build the future for Bowral. We'll work hard to keep Bowral's proud name out there."- Daniel Sturm The Bowral Kookaburras will hold a meet and greet night at Loseby Park on December 4 at 5.30pm. Senior club president Mick Galvin invited any interested people to attend the event. Galvin said the Kookaburras were on track for a good season in 2015. "I coached the under 16s last year and most said they wanted to play again," he said. "With the under 18s and grade up, things are looking promising." For more information, call Daniel Sturm on 0423 594 429 or contact Mick Galvin on 0412 724 072. Edited by disco stu, Nov 19 2014, 12:26 PM.

Is it, or is the GST being applied by certain players who are the 'market forces'? Catch-22, a good team spending $$$ attracts crowds, a bad team with no $$$, has less through the gate than a leper colony. |

They are only worth what the market is prepared to pay, most players usually inflate their price or play sides to get a better deal , smart committees know the games and will negoiate a "fair" & reasonable price . |

Former top class G6 first grade player Inoke Amone, now 37yo, will be joining City for the second round of the reserve grade competition. Nox will provide invaluable experience to the young blokes in the club. |

Inoke's son Tom is an Australian Schoolboy, and will be in the Eels NYC team, so he only wants to do the half season... Finish off his career with my brother Rob, whose going to play the second round of the G6 season in reggies too. Both Nox and Rob were Fairfield Pats Commonwealth Bank Cup players in 1995, so they've decided they'd like to go around one more time again. Rob left the Roos in 1991, but he wants to go around to say he's started and finished at City... |

A fair few to announce when Drew gets back. Let's just say, we are putting the band back together. Nice Gal, we might all approach Advanced Hair for a sponsorship deal.
