spot on Rob, this squad was announced to give all possibly affected players and clubs as much notice as possible to organise work - family committments etc.
This squad is only made up of registered players so far, it would be crazy to announce a rep team in February based on the group 6 rumour mill. The strongest team possible will be assembled with absolutely zero care to which club they play for.
It would be great if ALL people associated with group 6 got behind the Rep team to show case the quality of competition we have.

Senior rugby league returns to Bowral's Loseby Park

BY Josh Bartlett

http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/story/2903701/league-is-back-at-loseby-park/?cs=261

RUGBY LEAGUE

AN OLD rivalry will be reignited on Sunday.

For the first time in years, Bowral will host Bundanoon in a senior rugby league match.

The Bowral and Bundanoon second division (third grade) teams will meet at Loseby Park at 4pm.

The sides will compete for the inaugural B and B Shield, which stands for 'Bundanoon versus Bowral'.

It will also mark the first senior rugby league match at Loseby since 2012.

Bowral coach Daniel Sturm said his side and Bundanoon would compete for the B and B Shield throughout the year.

"We are both Highlands teams, so we thought why not play for the shield," he said.

"I don't think these teams have played against each other in years... there is a bit of talk around town that footy's back."

Bundanoon coach Brian Martin said he expected a tough game on Sunday.

"It should be a good, competitive contest," he said.

"It's our first hit out of the season, so there will be mistakes."

There will be three matches at Loseby Park on Sunday.

Bowral's under-18s will take on the Warragamba Wombats at 1pm, Warragamba's second division team will face Mount Annan at 2.30pm, before the B and B Shield game gets underway at 4pm.

There is a smorgasbord of rugby league in the Highlands this weekend.

The Group 6 pre-season tournament will also be held at Community Oval on Friday night.

The Moss Vale Dragons will host Picton at 7pm, which will be followed by the Mittagong Lions meeting the Thirlmere Roosters.

Dragons president Michael Sutton said it was a boon for the club to host the tournament.

"It's great for us to be back in first grade and we will be looking to trial a few positions," he said.

Lions president Dave Elliott said Mittagong looked forward to its first hit out against Thirlmere.

"It's good to be back on the park and have a feel for the ball," he said.

Good to see the footy back on tonight out at Sid Sharpe with four games on. Should be interesting. I would predict that most teams would be treating these games as a trial and playing squads that are a mixture of first, fringe and reserve grade players. Either way will be good to see some footy back on

Nothing untoward gents... there is no way known our blokes could make a 6pm Friday kickoff at Oakdale. We'd still be around Campbelltown TAFE in the parking lot known as Narellan Road.
We were pushing 6.30pm as it was.
We offered to play it 1.30pm at Fullwood on Sunday, but the Camden club was unable to do such.

We have a full 1st Grade team, full Reserve Grade, the U/18As are full. We have potential to enter the 2nd Division draw a few weeks in with our current numbers if they stabilise (Gary Syron to coach), and a the Board last night met with a person keen to coach an U/18Bs squad for us.

Trials this Sunday vs Mt Druitt PCYC at Fullwood.

We knew about the 6pm Friday kickoff at Oakdale at 9.06pm last night.
Nice try Rob.

So out of all those players you are talking about at your club you couldn't get a team together ?

Given notice at 6pm we may have been a chance.
I'd like to see Appin play at Oakdale, Friday 6pm... But at least going via Macquarie Pass to Oakdale on a Friday would still be quicker than Narellan Rd.

Larter at mittagong

We played a team mixed of Reggie's and firsts tonight and will be better for the run once some key players return. Groat and kite debuted for the club. Mittagong showed they won't be easy beats this year. But playing thorpey in halves may take him away from his very potent hooking position.

Narellan tried it on tonight with some unsportsmanlike tactics that just arnt in the spirit of the game. Everyone loves tough footy but certain players have zero class and are more interested in getting the crowd offside. The oaks handled them well and led 16-6 and seemed to be doing it easy before taking some quality players off for spells.

Appin have some quality across the park with Gibbs making his debut. Looked trim too. Flanno off the bench and weh were solid. Oakdale have a very sharp halfback and lumpy was a standout.

Good night of footy to kick things off
