Congrats to all selected in the rep team. I mean this with no disrespect to the squad but this to me looks like a 3rd string team when you consider the players we have in our comp. Thompson. Lett, begovich, groat, weir, Borgs, Paea, tupon, Judd, dengate, brasington, paki to name a few that imo should be there. They can't all be injured? Group 7 won't be sending a second string squad. We never seem to get close to our best team on the rep paddock year after year and wonder why we underachieve. |

Its very difficult to pick players that dont want to play.. A few boys you have mentioned were selected but couldnt make game 1 due to work commitments etc, a few others were unavailable due to injury, others didnt have the form. I certainly wouldnt call it a 3rd string team - its a team picked on current form, they will serve the area very well.. |

Warwick Carter couldn't make it due to work and was stood down because of it I'd imagine Mittagong wouldn't be too happy hearing work as an excuse |

Third string was a bit harsh admittedly. Will these players who are "unavailable" be lining up for their clubs on the weekend.? |

To be honest if they don't want to play then dnt pick them your better off having blokes that want to play for the group. I don't think they should be forced to play either some of these guys come and play in group 6 to make some extra money or play with mates and not to be around the rep footy so if they don't won't to be in the team don't pick them then you will get 17 blokes who actually are commited and want to represent the group. |

The group also asks players to give up work commitments with no intentions of helping them out financially for money lost. Is the group paying players this year? |

It's a massive ask to get blokes to have a day off work for a Friday match. Financial compensation in some capacity will help retain rep players. The whole setup probably needs a review. |

Most guys if given enough notice can arrange to have a day off work to travel to a game. Every year it seems the CRL try and change the way the country championships are played, years ago it was all played out in 1 weekend, 2009 you played Saturday and Sunday to reduce the impact on club footy and work commitments. I personally loved having the day off and travelling to a country town you wouldnt normally ever go to, have a feed and a few beers with your team mates and any opposing players you might have know. Illawarra only paid us $150 a win - chicken feed compared to the money we were making a club footy. $150 isnt going to change your life but would certainly fill the void if a day off work was required. I played because i loved the game, i was proud to make a rep team and play with other players in the area that id otherwise never play with. These are my reasons for playing rep footy, others will have different reasons - for & against playing. Everyone assumes Illawarra and Newcastle are super tough comps ( which they are ) but mainly thats because on how they perform at the CRL championships every year. If every player was available in group 6 ALONE - they would give tier 1 a massive shake up. |

Payney, It should go back to being done in one weekend when all the clubs have a bye so it doesn't impact on clubs. |

Is it right to assume all players named in previous g6 team that aren't in the final team named today are unavailable for club this wknd? |

Would be interesting to see G6's best 1-17 match up against Newcastle or Illawarra. Thompson, Lett, Taylor, Low, Gibbs, Cashmere, Flanagan all provide a very fair nucleus, and would all be top tier players in the Coal Leagues. |

Mosss vale heavily represented.. I Wonder if that has anything to do with payney on the coaching staff ? and I don't understand how Blake Judd is not in the side, on the wing at the very least. He was on the wing for Cronulla in a first grade trial 5 months ago. And yes he is available! |
