I think a few of the city 18s kids can be fast tracked to their first grade squad for next year. If big dash really is going to be over that way could be exciting times ahead. Orana? |

A fair few have already stepped up and played Reserves or Firsts, so that augurs well. We are in the process of seeking a captain-coach for 2016 at the moment, so the difference this time is that we have a lot of spots already under contract. Dalts last year was appointed and told, "by the way, we need to find a 1st Grade team too". He did a magnificent job, and should take a fair bit of credit in the development of individual U/18 players now signed to come into Grade. I've got to hand it to our U/18 Coach Gordon Pinney, Wilko and Craig Thompson. Gordon had been trying for years to win a comp with his young bloke Kurt. They were 0/6 before yesterday, and those omens weigh heavy. But they got the biggest one of all. It was a special family moment for them. Dasha's father played 1st Grade for CCK. He's always welcome in the front bar of the Court Tavern.

I think so. It is the biggest Grand Final victory in Group 6. They equal the feats of: Mittagong 1962-64 Campbelltown City 1969-71 Campbelltown City 1973-75 Picton 1985-87 Picton 2013-15 To only be the teams in Group history to three-peat. Unfortunately for Scott Borg, he'd be the first coach in Group annals to lose three straight. |

Pretty hard to argue with. Of course I am biased but I genuinely believe this is the best team I've seen at this level. To match those other sides that have won 3 on the trot and then win by the biggest margin ever is a phenomenal achievement. A good measure of a side is the quality of the opposition they beat. Yesterday's game wasn't a fair representation of how strong that Camden side is. They were a very good team in '14 and then significant upsized to be one of the best teams on paper we've seen. Anyway, the boys are on a bus tour living it up today. I'm sure they'll be painting the city black and white. No doubt the Workers have partied long and hard out at Oakdale too. Wonder how TC is travelling. |

Quite frankly, Camden imploded. Picton didn't start great either. It was an error strewn first twenty five minutes, and Letty did well to take the two points and quell his team's nerves. Remember that it was 2-nil ?32?mins into the first half. Camden were diabolical, proving the old Gus Gould maxim that you can't win a game in the first 20mins, but you sure can lose it. Riddled with fundamental errors, they built no pressure and had no rhythm to their attack. Frantic and dysfunctional. I tipped Camden on the basis on their NRL/ NSW Cup experience. That was sadly lacking. Camden's half-time body language at 14-nil was defeatist. I like young Chris Browne. Respectful and a great role model to his Club's junior players. But there's nothing more uninspiring than shoddy fullback defence. Symbolic of the way each of the Camden players were isolated and playing on their own. It will be interesting to see the reaction of the tricolour club to this rout. I'd say the auditors would be well pleased with the Workers Club trade Sunday- Tuesday. Congrats to the Old Boys, and great reward for what they've done 2014-15 to keep the Club alive. |

Magpies win group 6 grand final ![]() The Picton Magpies’ black and white army are celebrating a trifecta of Group 6 premierships, after a 46-0 demolition of Camden Rams in the grand final at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, Leumeah on September 13. The Magpies were ruthless in their efforts in front of more than 4000 spectators. Anthony Provost opened the scoring for Picton after five minutes, with a penalty goal that seemed to settle the nerves of both sides. The scoreboard came to life again when Michael Lett crossed after a broken play opportunity saw him cross the line for an 8-0 lead. Almost immediately Nick Taylor scored and the Magpies led 14-0, but Camden were still in the hunt, as the half-time siren sounded minutes later. Billy Carroll and Matt Dengate scored to increase the score to 26-0 in the Magpies favour favour. The turning point of the match came just after the hour mark, when Camden prop Ray Cashmere was sent off for a headbutt, following an incident from a tackle. Don Thompson and Michael Lett’s second try sealed the result, before Josh McIlvenny and Rory Vale added late tries to send the healthy Picton supporter base into raptures. The other results from grand final day, Oakdale defeated Camden 23-22 in a golden point thriller in reserve grade, Campbelltown City defeated Camden 32-18 in the under-18 (1) match, Narellan defeated Mt Annan 34-16 in second divsion, while in the under-18 (2) Campbelltown City defeated Mittagong 16-14. http://www.camdenadvertiser.com.au/story/3346958/magpies-win-group-6-grand-final/?cs=1562 Edited by disco stu, Sep 14 2015, 03:32 PM.

Turning point at 26-nil? Hmm. I doubt said journo covers much Rugby League. Turning point was back to back yardage errors by Camden when score was still 2-nil. 14-zip three minutes later. I can't believe Camden were so good in the Major and so poor yesterday. Apparently there was a team at Bradbury Oval doing ballwork at 11am. Surely it wasn't them? |

Cashmere was the least impressive player of the day. He surely proved yesterday that he isn't an 80minute player. Running sideways and when the Picton defence was driving him back tried to throw Hail Mary offloads in there own half. 60 minute brain snap was icing on the cake for his terrible game. Perhaps most disappointing though was when he walked off clapping the crowd who were heckling him. I doubt the 12 players left on the field to be romped thought it was numerous. Then Weir walks over to congratulate him. Weir was missing while the Picton pack ran all over Camden. |

Hi all. I have been watching G6 for a while now. Got a couple of questions, 1. Can Camden recover from this beating? Will be very hard to get over such a loss. 2. Whilst watching G6 this year, I believe the standard has gone down? I don't believe it is so strong as before. To be honest there were two sides and we all know it, I would rather see good games every week. This is nothing against the G6 or anyone involved, but the footy in 1st grade was poor this year. Thoughts? |

Well done to Ben Baker, he has been one of the best in both of these competitions for a long time. Very consistent. Is the deal done for him to stay with Easts? I heard he may be seeking some RMC deals? Must have been paying some big dollars to keep him there considering his dream is to make NRL and the RMC would be a good way to get there. |

Definitely not weaker. 2009 and 2010 the comp went through a slump where it was weak. Yes two teams were clearly on top for the year but have a look at the calibre of players at both those clubs. Could have both been competitive in RMC no dramas. The other clubs were good at times too, these clubs just felt the impact of injuries much worse as they didn't have the depth of the top 2. The oaks played an exciting brand of footy, we had a strong roster just didn't have the fitness or team cohesion to match it with the best, Appin and narelian both had nrl experience. |
