What an enticing prospect for local rugby league with the Sydney Shield having two teams from the area in Easts and Wests, i hope this makes guys hungry for a run in a great comp. This could also be the well needed boost to the weakened local senior comp that could help strengthen it player wise with guys hungry for a spot in Sydney Shield.

Are you saying that the likes of Easts and Wests will be using players from the local A Grade?

Well the excess players would drop off to get a game but why wouldn't they TC? Tim Lafai went from Easts to Canterbury so why wouldn't a player playing well in A grade get promoted to the Sydney Shield? Players playing in the SCC finally have more to aim for.

Ok, so where are the excess players dropping off to? Are you guys fielding an A Grade team? If so yeah of course you would promote players from within, I read it differently as if you were planning on using players from other clubs within the local comp.
Does this go both ways though? As in Your guys playing RMC with Wests?
Players finally having more to aim for? What does that mean? You guys have been there 1 year

You'd have to ask the appropriate clubs directly, i was speaking in general for the competition as opportunities within the Wests clubs are increasing now with that positive news. Now that Wests also have a Sydney Shield team guys at clubs like All Saints, Minto and Ingleburn for example (hopefully numbers are up) will get a chance if good enough to play at a level that isn't out of reach.

So what your implying, as TC is trying to work out, is that Wests will have the opportunity to pull players from all teams from it's District such as All Saints, Minto and even East Campbelltown from SCC A grade for Sydney Shield and RMC as they are the district club and all these clubs play in their junior league. Is this not what your saying?

All players have been able to play at a higher level since Wests took over the area in 1985, players can be pulled up from the district they play in.

I'm not working for Wests so i couldn't give you a concrete answer but i'll leave it to your imagination, come on guys i'm not speaking french. :L the suggestion that they'd pull players from Easts A grade to play in their SS team sounds silly.

It may sound silly HardButFair but would be plausible considering they can pull Easts players for the RMC team this year. It is the same as Wests did last year when they had injuries. That's how Dayne Craig got a run and others.

East Campbelltown don't have a team in the RMC though. I wonder what the effect will be on Group 6 now that their are 2 SS teams and a RMC team to represent, guys like Benny Baker won't be dictated to by silly officials anymore and will have a shot at higher honours with opportunities galore now i believe.

NONE What so ever.
People play in Group 6 footy because it is a truly local competition that has been around for over 100 years with traditional rivalries.
There's been Metro Cup, Jim Beam Cup, Bundy Cup, take your pick.
There are always going to be a few glory hunters leave the Group that try and draw up an imaginary pathway from a 5th tier competition to their dream of playing in the NRL.
The 2 will co-exist, so there is no need for either to panic.

and that's not directed at anyone in particular.
There's no haters gonna hate on Ben Baker, he's been at your club in the past, and i know he has his reasons for being there, all the best to him!

The Mighty East Campbelltown Eagles would like to welcome Richard Barnes as the Sydney Shield Coach for 2015, Barnzy the coach of the Eagles 2012 Undefeated Claytons Cup Premiership winning team, first started with the Eagles in 2007 and since this time has helped fill the Eagles Trophy Cabinet, the Eagles Record under Barnzy's Guidance is as follows :
2007 Kiama 9-aside Runners Up
2007 Canterbury 1st Grade Premiers
2009 Cabramatta 9 aside plate winners
2010 Group 6 Preseason Premiers
2011 Group 6 Preseason Premiers
2011 Group 6 Runners Up
2012 Kiama 9-aside Runners Up
2012 Group 6 Undefeated Premiers
2012 Claytons Cup Winners

It's with great pleasure that we see the return of one of the finest coaches in the Macarthur District to the Mighty Eagles for 2015

I was recently advised that All Saints JRLFC will be fielding 1st and 2nd or 3rd grade teams in the SCC for 2015. Great news. Training is Tuesday and Thursday at Hillier Oval at 7pm under the guidence of head coach Alan Fry. For details ring Alan on 0417 686 005. If you're wondering, Tubby, that human keg on legs, will be backing up again, so if you want to square accounts with Tubby it's best to sign up to play. Glad to hear Easts are back - our old rivals. Always a hard game. Anyhow, Easts have plenty of reasons to thank All Saints - for those that like history - the Easts v All Saints A grade games around the early 2000's were always well contested in the old Wests 6 team A grade competition but one cold Sunday arvo Saints hammered Easts. Easts were shattered and the old Eagles hard heads sat down and vowed to rebuild the club - well the rest is history with the Eagles filling their trophy cabinet over the past few seasons. No truth in the rumour Peter "Big Show" Cashel is making a comeback as player or coach for St Christophers "Old Fellas' 3rd grade.
We might see several clubs field 2 teams which will be great for the draw and the gates. Best of luck for all clubs in 2015.
Go the mighty Saints
Ps. I'm still happily retired from all things Rugby League.
