East campnelltown never let the truth get in the way of publicity. Beaten in quarter finals of the bowl (not even top prize on offer) worth a write up? And lying about teams performance. Maybe they are hoping teams forfeit coz they've read how good easts are in the paper..

Splinter you have issues, and you need a life! if we weren't that finished on top of their pool, played in the main quaterfinals, what was we playing in, we won all our games in our pool, all 8 teams played in the Quater finals for a shot at the main final, we won 3 from 3 so why would we play for a bowl? And didn't Cabra win the Tournament defeating Blacktown, if Cabra didn't win who won?

THE East Campbelltown Eagles kick-started their pre-season as they reached the semi-finals in the 2015 international nines tournament at St Marys Leagues Stadium recently.

Teams from Fiji, Malta, the Philippines, Canada and Samoa and other countries mixed with other local sides to add an international atmosphere to the event on January 31.

The Eagles knew they had a hard task ahead of them as they were placed in group H with Fiji, Concord Burwood and the Philippines.

Richard Barnes’ men overcame the challenge as they defeated Fiji 14-12, Concord Burwood 14-10 and Philippines 24-4 to leave the group with three wins from three matches.

The Eagles faced their biggest challenge against eventual Bowl final winners Blacktown Workers in the semi-final.

The Workers won the tie 26-22 in a high intensity match with a last-gasp try.

The Eagles new Sydney Shield coach Richard Barnes was impressed with the effort his players showed in their first outing in the build up for the 2015 season.

‘‘To play Blacktown in the [semi-final] and another Ron Massey Cup team was another huge effort,’’ he said.

‘We led the game but they got us right on the bell, but it showed us plently [of] what we can expect for 2015.’’

Barnes said the nines tournament is an important step in the side’s preparation for the 2015 season.

‘‘Nine a side footy gives us a good opportunity to look at players when they have to work hard in defence; it gives us a look at their fitness levels and shows us what attack they can do in open field play,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s good to get the guys a sniff of things while they do pre-season training.

‘‘We always have a good culture in our club and a culture you can’t buy; we have had a core group and they always make newcomers feel welcome.’’
I did read before I posted champ, hard to get the facts right with all the conflicting stories coming out of your camp. Says u lost a semi to eventual bowl winners.either way loss in the quarters hardly worth the beat up in that article.

Defeating Fiji, Phillipines and Burwood not worthy of a write up, a Group 6 side could only manage 1 win in their pool, so we done extremely well to win our pool and we where very unlucky not to defeat Blacktown as we led the whole way and they got us on the bell, isn't any Rugby League story good to have in the local paper? What you would rather read about Soccer?

Yes, we have a trial for our 1st and 3rd Grade Against All Saints and we are waiting for conformation regarding a Sydney Shield trial, we are not to fussed in playing too many trials for Sydney Shield as the team has 22 Rounds of footy.

The East Campbelltown Eagles would like to welcome new sponsors to the Eagles Nest for 2015

Hogs Breath Café Campbelltown
Gatorade
IBS Integrated Business Security
Schweppes
Carlton United Breweries
And Mega Mini Golf

We see ourselves as leaders in the community when it comes to supporting local charities; our Charity Partner for 2015 is again Macarthur Disability Services. We will also be supporting Headspace Campbelltown in the Benny Stevens Cup, which will be played against Western Suburbs Magpies on the 24th of May; Benny played for both clubs East and West so it will be a fitting tribute.

The Eagles would like to show their appreciation in the returning sponsors for 2015, we are grateful to see so many businesses support our club; it’s fantastic that the community really backs our guys.

A tough day at the office but comps are won in September not February. Guildford looked a young team.

Yes I wouldnt take to much into it, we did play with a number of our main players not playing, and we did use this game as just a trial, this time last year we got beat by 80 against Mounties and went on to win the premiership :winner: :winner: :winner:

The trial was a good hit out, and we got to see a few guys that really impressed, Guy Thompson was great, Reece Grkinik showed good potential and Rodger Langi was a really good find for us.

Guildford did have alot of good young talent and will be a side at the top end of the ladder at the end of the season.
