How did u go today?
The guys went down to Peninsula 18-16, sadly we bombed a couple of tries, but it was a great effort from the Eagles, better effort than last year when Peninsula smashed us at their home ground

East Campbelltown Eagles RLFC – Media Release 12-04-2015

On Sunday the 12th of April the East Campbelltown Eagles came up against the Auburn Warriors at Waminda Oval.
The Mighty Eagles supporters are really coming out in numbers with another large crowd on hand, the large Auburn Warriors pack came out and attacked the eagles line for the first 10 minutes of play, but the Eagles defence was rock solid and they couldn’t be broken, against the run of play the Eagles got the ball and seen Amanono Tovio weave some magic to score out wide, Ben Baker converted and the Eagles went to a 6 nil lead.

The eagles attack stepped up a notch and again looked certain to score another try when an Auburn player was sin binned for a professional foul, Auburn down a player the eagles used it to their advantage running in another two tries, winger Craig Moustakas and fullback Ben Baker crossed for the Eagles, and Ben converting another goal for the Eagles to led 16-0, with 10 minutes remaining auburn hit back with 2 tries to bring the half time led back to 16-8 to the Eagles.

The second half was becoming a real arm wrestle and when Auburn crossed first we had a game on our hands at 16-12 Eagles way. But that would be it for the Warriors, The Eagles then went on a try scoring spree running in 4 unanswered tries, with Mason Talolua, Sean Connor and Ben Baker bagging another two tries to give him a hat trick for the day and running out convincing winners 40-12

Coach Richard Barnes said, “Today I was so proud of the guys efforts, we came up against a huge Auburn pack and the boys defended brilliantly, great individual efforts from John Da Silva and a fantastic defensive effort from full Ben Baker, we love playing at Waminda Oval and our club has only lost one game at home in the past 6 years”

Best for the Eagles were: John da Silva, Ben Baker and Amanono Tovio

Try Scorers

Ben Baker 3
Sean Connor
Amanono Tovio
Mason Talolua
Craig Moustakas

Goals

Ben Baker 6 from 7

For what it's worth, Barnesy has rebuilt the squad well, Waminda looks tip-top, good luck to youse.
