Some scientists have claimed that dogs are smarter, because cats can't figure out cause and effect the way dogs can. Like dogs do tricks cause they know they'll get a treat, cats usually don't. It's my personal belief that cats are smarter than dogs. Cats can be trained to do tricks, but it is harder to do so because cats dislike doing tricks. Cats usually ignores everything that's not in one of two categories: food or threat. Cats are known to be much more self-sufficient than dogs. They frequently catch birds and rats if they are outdoor cats, so they can feed themselves if necessary, though usually they present they're prey to their owner as a sign of respect or as a gift. They groom themselves quite well, hair and claws. They can use a litter box instead of crapping all over the place. They will cover up their excrement if they feel more dominant then their owner, but will cover it up if not. They survive quite well in the wild, even if raised as an indoor cat. And |

| Thanks! I have had some very, very smart dogs. But they did not groom themselves. And I've had cats that would actually use the toilet. On the other hand, if you're being attacked, your dog whether it be a Doberman or a Chihuahua, will defend you. A cat is going to watch. |

| Here's a question. If spider webs are really as strong as they say, why aren't there any spider farms? You could make all sorts of things, braces, armor, shields etc. |

Because the spiders are too territorial to farm effectively and the amount produced is nearly impossible to harvest and use. There are tribes in the Amazon that will set up poles in the jungle side by side until the middle is filled with spider webs, then they used the to fish. They've tried combining goat and spider DNA to have a goat you could milk large strands of spider silk from, but it has so far been unsuccessful. There are spider farms, but they're usually for venom and other research. They have places that farm webs, but it can be extremely expensive. Edited by We3d0, Aug 19 2010, 11:08 PM.
