William Regal announced to the crowd at Tuesday's RAW live event in London, England that the ongoing British tour would be his last because he is retiring soon.

Having started his career wrestling on the carnival circuit in England at the age of 15, he competed across the globe before joining World Championship Wrestling in 1993. After parting ways with the organization in 2000, he joined World Wrestling Entertainment, where he became commissioner. He has been with the company since then.

Throughout his 27-year career, Regal has won more than 60 titles worldwide, including 15 in WWE and 4 in WCW.

He recently signed a 42 month contract renewal with WWE, which puts him under contract until 2014.

It'll be a sad day. He's an all around talent, and one of my favorites. But he's earned it! Honestly I can't think of many people who have had such a long, and successful career. And to my knowledge has done it without injury, or drug problems. Regal is the man!

THe only drug issue he has was when he won the king of the ring and tested posistive, aside from the that he has been clear.

I agree though it will be a sad day when he goes he is an amazing title it would of been awesome to see him win one of the two top belts.

I think he is one of the most under-used wrestlers they've ever had. But that is a long career and 2014 is still a little while off...

I guess he could retire anytime now, and do other things until 2014. If WWE is willing to work with him like that.

He might retire from in ring action but i think he would continue to train people, just think of how much he could help the talent in FCW.

He would make a wonderful trainer. If he would do that, there may actually be some new guys worth watching from time to time.

Daniel Bryan is your example. At least CM Punk gave Regal the credit for him on Raw. I believe Shawn Michaels got him started. But looking at Bryan, you see a lot more Regal than Michaels in him.

I've never noticed. I'll have to pay more attention to him next time.

Update:

William Regal clarified his announcement earlier this week that WWE's ongoing European tour could be his last, writing on Twitter:

"I'm having a great tour and wrestling Daniel Bryan has made me realize that unless I can keep up to that standard it's possibly time for me to start winding down.I said it might be my last tour the other day not that it was. I would like to continue with quality and not quantity. Take care."
