Politics, What is the point in voting?

It seems at the moment in the UK, voting was pointless due in part that elected officials totally disregard what the people want. At the moment there is a tuition fee problem inwhich the government wants to charge around 9,000 a year, when for me when I went to Uni it was 3,000. Now that is pretty bad but also take into account for people moving away. Before you could get maintenance loans to help with rent etc, but now that is being scrapped and with jobs hard to find as it is, how do they expect people going to Uni to pay for living costs?

I went back to my old college last week, speaking to my old tutor he was saying that the firsts years on the course now do not have the chance to go to Uni purely because of the cost. It is just fucking people over.

Also to show how stupid this government, we have an aircraft carrier which use to have harrier jets. Though they are all gone now and they will not be replaced till 2020. This aircraft carrier was used in Iraq and afganistan and now we no longer have the ability to use this.

These two are totally fucking up the the UK, I can't trust either one with anything they say. They are out to protect the rich.

Thats how it is here too, "Protect The Rich!" that all anyone cares about.

I have never voted and I don't plan on it anytime soon.

I am still not entirely sure of the differences in Uni and Collage or in pounds and dollars for that matter but....

"Nearly half (47 percent) of all full-time undergraduate college students attend a four-year college that has published charges of less than $9,000 per year for tuition and fees.

At the other end of the spectrum are private four-year colleges that cost $35,000 or more yearly in tuition and fees. These higher-priced colleges sometimes have bigger endowments and more grant aid available — which may mean that you can get more financial help to attend that institution."

Protect the rich is exactly what it's all about. I don't know how it is in the UK or the rest of the world, but with all the billionaires here, there is absolutely no reason for anyone to be without the basics. Jessica Simpson is now a billionaire, for crying out loud. Yet there are still people living on the streets and kids going to bed hungry and going to school with no coat. If the government gave a flying crap about anyone they are supposed to be serving, this kind of shit wouldn't be happening.

It just makes people so demoralized with politics when the liberal democrats spend the whole time leading up to the election saying 'no tuition fee rises', and then totally disregard it when they get into power. It's a fucking disgrace.

Yep, now anytime the Lib dems say anything or promise anything it will be met with a yeah sure. Nick Clegg has become a yes man Cameron has him bent over, and Clegg is just taking it.
I was keeping up to date with it on news 24 and some politians are so out of touch with the real world, they were saying people from poorer backgrounds are better off now witht the new scheme??? yeah by paying more over a longer period of time. Just means graduates will be left in debt for longer periods of time.

They suggested that because more people go to uni now than they did before, that suggests people like paying tuition fees...

Yeah it makes little sense, they must think everyone is ok in having £27,000 in debt for years. Now that would be the course alone adding on living costs if you move away and you are looking at well over £30,000 which is crazy, and to think Scotland is free from all this crap.
