Is anyone keeping up with this?

Police said 200 to 300 bodies were found in the northeastern coastal city of Sendai, the city in Miyagi prefecture, or state, closest to the epicenter. Another 178 were confirmed killed, with 584 missing. Police also said 947 people were injured.

Caught it on the news today crazy stuff. The death toll keeps rising when the wave hit it washed away a whole harbour fulls of boats cars everything. I think one report mentioned they were finding hundreds of bodies in some areas.
There is also a power plant which has a risk of leaking radiation but I'm not sure what the status of that is at the moment.

This is crazy! I always seem to base how severe something is by how many channels are covering it. And in this case it's like.. all of them. Hope they get the nuclear stuff sorted out. But the death count (what James posted anyway) seems low to me.

I think one of the most shocking things so far is a port town got washed away with 10,000 people. It's hard to imagine in an instant all that is gone.

I have an online friend who lives there. She's American and her husband is in the military stationed over there. She was home alone with 2 small children. Tweeted through most of it. It was terrifying, even for me. I can't imagine actually being there and going through something like that.
