A CUSTOMER RECENTLY EMAILED ME THIS QUESTION. I AM POSTING IT HERE SO OTHERS MAY BENEFIT. Can you give me any tips about how to pick up extra work (fleet work included). I have considered approaching insurance companies to see if they will let their policy holders know that I'm out there. But I suspect they will prefer to deal with the bigger companies here. I would be grateful for any tips you can share with me. Many thanks, Mark all my work is fleet work. you'll need at least 5 injectors. i recommend one nice fast one (do your own research) and plenty of economical injectors for those days you get four cars. you dont want to do them one at a time. for car dealers and buses and police car fleets you'll just need to go in and introduce yourself to the right people. you'll need to already know how to do the work so get training and some practice under your belt, then do some friends cars for free, every one you can find. you want to be ready for when a car dealer says, "so... how's your work?" be ready to show him before you go in the first day. as far as insurance work, meeting agents is fine, sign up for networks like sgc (safelite glass), but most of the time you'll be finding your own work and then billing the insurance companies or getting reimbursed from the person whose car you just did. theres no free ride, gotta find your work. get a website and pay google to give you local hits. use mailers. but fleet work is a great base for work cause you can go out and actively find cars. retail you gotta wait for phone calls. come to my forums and post more questions. i prefer to answer them there so others may benefit from your question. jason |
