Returning to the point, I realized last night I don't think we mentioned Barcode Battler II - The Legend of Zelda yet. Technically it counts. I mean if we're allowing the Game Watch to count then The Barcode Battler must too. Barcode Battler is nearly as bad as the Zelda board game, though...

Can it really be considered a videogame? Isn't it more akin to collectable card games?

It runs on the Barcode Battler which is technically classified a "handheld game console" so I'd argue it counts just barely. No graphics. It would be like a text adventure, and a bad one at that.

Mh... ok, let's add it. What's the proper name of the game? ("The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past Barcode Battle?")

Here's a better picture of the cover: link

The box says:

バーコードバトラーⅡ
専用カードソフト
ゼルダの伝説
神々のトライフォース

or

Barcode Battler II
Card Software
The Legends of Zelda
Triforce of the Gods

So I'd call it "Barcode Battler II - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past" maybe? I'm not sure. What do you think would be the best name for it?

The overly enthused BS-X nerd.
On a note -
If Link's Awakening and LADX count as separate entries, then I'd logically therefore consider any game entry which is different from the others as a new game.

Therefore I'd suggest adding the Famicom Disk System "Zelda no Densetsu 2: Link no Bouken" alongside "The Adventure of Link" on the NES. THe differences are so drastic, they're almost like different games. I could pop up a video on Youtube that was uploaded if anyone cares enough for that.

Also, something just dawned on me to ask - was The Legned of Zelda released on Playchoice-10? I'll look this up...

Well, I put DX there simply because it was an actual re-release with a different name. Though they may be very different, Adventure of Link and Link no Bouken are Japanese and Western versions of the same game. Going down that way we would have to list the Japanese version of just about every game as there always tend to be some differencies (just consider the Japanese TWW: no way to know the locations of the Triforce charts. Have fun exploring the whole game before you can go fight Ganon).

Although I'm talking about changes a bit more drastic than just that, your point is taken.

But here's my *complete* Zelda games list.  Tell me if I'm missing anything

Would it be worth adding the Charumera Version? Or should we wait until it's confirmed to actually be different at all?

Now we need a list of cameos :D

I agree with Kiddo. SatellaWalker 1&2 should definitely be added. Besides the Zelda buildings, there are also loads of Zelda item cameos. I would love to see some more Satellaview-broadcast Zelda item sprites if they could be taken from the SatellaWalker roms. Have these been hacked yet?
Also, would 3D Dot Heroes count as a cameo? It's not Nintendo, so I don't know...

I actually composed this list about 2 months ago. I wanted to compare release date of the American titles vs Japanese titles. I know I'm a little biased by not including european releases. Its interesting that zelda 2 came out less than 11 months after zelda 1. I guess that explains why it is so bad. The only zelda games to be released in the U.S. before Japan was ATTP/Four Swords and the collector's disc. Zelda is closing in its 20th birthday. I do have a few incomplete release date. For example, I know Zelda's adventure came out in 95 but don't know the month or date. Anyone want to help fill in these few blanks?

What do you think about this timeline?
Here's a version including Australian and Chinese releases too.
Too bad the unicode seems to be broken.

I'd like to keep this series of list's going with "Zelda Clones".

Would that Wisdom Tree monstrosity, Spiritual Warfare, count as a clone for Zelda 1? Also what about the Marvelous series (as in Marvelous: Mouhitotsu no Takarajim) as clones of ALttP?

Back on track:
Zelda Game Boy Camera (gold-colored GB Camera with original content, only 2000 made)
( [size0]Actually this brings up the whole concept of special versions of hardware like the Zelda Triforce Nintendo DS Lite, etc., etc., etc. ... And I guess also the special gold versions of the carts. Although only the camera has original content...)

To carry on with more silly Zelda-related lists, what about a list of special Zelda collectors versions of games and of hardware?I'll start:

Games
Gold Cartridge version of The Legend of Zelda (1)
Gold Cartridge Version of Zelda II: Link's Adventure
Gold Cartridge Version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Holographic Version of Majora's Mask

Hardware
Zelda Game Boy Camera
Zelda Gold version GBA SP
Zelda Gold version Nintendo DS
Zelda Gold version Nintendo DS Lite

This is just really a basic start, but can anyone add any more?

Scratch that. I'm only sure about SatellaWalker 2. SatellaWalker 1 may have nothing Zelda-related.
