As you may or may not have heard by now, Nintendo released more information on the Revolution, saying that they are going to have downloadable games from N64, SNES, and NES. My thought on this is that it puts in place the perfect infrastructure for re-releasing BS-Zelda and BS-Zelda 3 (Kodai no Sekiban). Now, before I get flames telling me I'm a n00b l00ser, and before anyone starts quoting me and putting things on their own websites, let me say that I am not connected with Nintendo or the video game industry and have no inside information on whether it will ever happen. I'm not saying they are going to and they likely won't, but hey, a kid can dream can't he? Anyways... Just wanted to get people's take on this |

Who's your favorite possum?

Yes, we've discussed/dreamed about this. It's not gonna happen, but we've been dreaming of different ways for the BS Zelda games to get released in US/Europe for years. Or at least, *I* have. Wasn't one of the ideas AST as a second quest on the GBA ALTTP. Anyway, I think that it should have either a special download, or be on another "collector's edition" disc... Did you know that I wrote a letter to "Nintendy" 13 months before they came out with the collector's disc, in which I had EVERY SINGLE FEATURE on there (except the video on TWW, but I DID have the other video (described slightly differently), and TWW demo), but I also had ALTTP and the first BS Zelda on the list... (before I had truly figured out what AST was all about... I don't think I ever cared until Garrett came around) Is 13 months too short of a time for them to have listened? I'm wanting to say "yes". Besides, I'm sure they got a lot of that kinda crap, but it's still fun to think that I inspired the idea...

Yeah, we've thought about that too, but:
And... flames for being a n00b l00ser? Why would anybody on this board do that? It is devoted to those games! So don't worry, go ahead and register: you'll fit right in ![]() Possum, what did you write in your letter? "nintendy make a collection of all zelda games up to MM plz k thx"? And why not LA? Just kidding ![]() How did you describe the retrospective in your letter? I think the one we got could have been made better. |

Personally the feature I liked the most was the animated boxes in the menu, in particular that of LoZ with the faeries flying around the title. I really, really I knew what the Japanese menu is like. |

*sounds of overly-gross Homer Simpson drooling* That would be so sweet. Aside from the technical woes of converting the games, it would be the perfect situation. Imagine if you could download a never before seen Zelda game, with Live Voice acting throughout and online scoreboards and other cool junk. For a small fee of course, but think how many Zelda fans would be drooling all over their wireless controllers at the thought of playing a lost game... The BS Zeldas alone would be very lucrative. Considering they don't have to "publish" the games on any medium, it's just free money waiting to be made, and if no-one buys it there's no loss so no risk in releasing the games. Then again, if they rerelease them... I'll *have* to buy a Revolution. There's no way I can live without Twilight Princess AND ports of ALttP/BSZ1/AST. Just not possible. I'll be a very poor man... ...but a very happy one...

OK, so I'm not the only one who thinks of bullshit when I think of BS. ![]() I'd love to see packs of games. I don't feel too happy about paying money for just Zelda 1, but if they were to sell 1 and 2, 3 and 4 (maybe all together), and SMB 1, 2, 3 and 2J/LL as packs then I'd consider it. |

I was hoping the games would have been free but that seems not to be the case. You may think I'm crazy for just thiniking about it, but consider: the vast majority of thsoe games are already emulated. The only way Nintendo could use them to actually increase the sales of their new console would be by giving them for free. |

Face it, 75% of GBA titles are ports with a couple of added features.

I assume anything we get on GBA we won't get on Revolution. Why buy the GBA game for $20 when you can play the Revolution version for $1.95? ![]() Which probably means no Link to the Past...

Better question: will people really pay (it is confirmed, we'll pay for each game) to download a game on their Revolution when they can emulate it on their PC for free (as immoral as that may be... hey that rhymed) I'll use your "Face it" guys, if this is to be the Revolution trump card, then Nintendo is screwed. The majority of players will want the dozens of times more powerful consoles by Sony and Microsoft and the hardcore minority of old Nintendo fans will be divided in those few that will download/buy more than a couple games and those that merrily emulated all of those games already. |

I'd rather have this be the Revolution "trump card" simply because I don't want to see something retarded (have they shown that blasted controller yet? Hope it's just a normal controller). The thing about emulation is that it is extremely open. They don't seem to care enough to do anything about it, and almost everyone knows exactly how to get emus and roms... But back to my letter that I wrote them. Keep in mind that I really knew more about BS Zelda, but didn't want to seem... suspicious. There are also more differences to my proposal and the actual disc than I thought... but that's aight. Here it is (a modified version without the addresses and closing):
I also wrote another one a couple of months later (that I do not have) that suggested coming out with the Zelda cartoons on some sort of disc for the GameCube. And as I said before (if I recall correctly), I wrote this about a year before it came out... |
