Where'd that Princess go?
![]()
|
A couple days ago Coinilious and I were talking about the chapter I wrote about AST's story. There were some things he asked me to clear up, which I did as far as I could (the game itself did not eleaborate much on some of those points) and I figured I'd post that here for all to see. First off, the chapter is accurate, I did it basing myself on the translation from David (and later fixed some details with Beno's help) The only things that are not directly from the game but speculated by me are the following passages: 1) "The Triforce could evidently not be used for the one to whom it was now bound was away." 2) "Not knowing how to return home, the youth resolved to trust this prophecy and accepted the quest of recovering a stone tablet from the East Palace." 3) "The Legendary Blade was supposed to sleep forever, yet it stirred as the people of Hyrule once again prayed for a savior. It could be said that destiny had strayed from its path, Hyrule's fate being (once again) linked to another world. And thus the sword was awakened one more time to right this wrong." Let me explain each point: 1) ALttP told us that you can't nab the Triforce when someone has already claimed possesion of it. This person has to die first. That seems to make my assumption that Zelda and the King could not use the Triforce quite obvious. 2) We don't know the starring character's motivation. It's up to the player of course, but this one seems reasonable to me. 3) In the game you just go pick it up really... which is quite anticlimatic after ALttP's ending. Hence why I tried to make it a bit more epic. But I didn't really make up anything (except I suppose fate straying): Hyrule's fate has definitely been linked to other worlds beofre  On another hand, the footnote: "Some legends seem to claim that this mysterious hero appeared again, centuries later to aid Link the Hero of Hyrule in his quest to gather the fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom. The legends go as far as to claim that on said occasion this hero entered the world of Hyrule for the first time, thus helping to save the future first and then the past; but no proof is left to back up such myths." is something I took the liberty of writing just for the heck of it. I figured I might since it doesn't really have anything to do with AST, but I couldn't just as casually add it to LoZ's chapter (for obvious reasons; the whole thing would have had to be rewritten). The reason I did is because the page is mainly about the BS Zelda games and having nothing specifically for the first did not seem right (and as for that "future first then the past" we assume the hero came from our world, and the remake of LoZ was released before AST ;)) So, if you don't like it, do feel free to ignore the footnote entirely. Oh and one more thing. In an early translation some mistakes were done that made me originally write as certain that Ganon used the Tablets to revive himself, but this is actually not made clear by the game (though it does say Ganon wants to use them to restore his full power). Coinilious suggests that Ganon's return could have been explained through voice acting. If that was the case, then it would most likely happen at the end of Week3 ...dammit. Also Sealed World was a mistranslation. The Golden Land/Dark World is (strangely enough since you do go in it) never named in the game. I forgot to capitalize Beno's name (or most likely my finger slipped) Sorry about that

I just asked this over PM, but I figured I might as well ask here as well - what does the inscription on the Master Sword pedestal say in AST? Is it different from the one in ALttP? Come to think of it, I don't even remember if it is even readible in AST... it's been a long time since I last played through the game. |

As I said, there's no earth shattering secret, so I will if the others want me too. But maybe there's no one else posting here because they'd rather avoid spoilers. |

That's quite possible - personally, I can't wait for Euclid's translated patch to be released so I can play through and know what's being said, but with all the questions being asked over at the LA forums about the Master Sword and it's involvement in AST, I thought the pedestal inscription might be an interesting one to know (which I now do, so it doesn't really bother me if it's mentioned here or not, I suppose)

Nah, I'm fine with spoilers... I'm gonna find it out somehow anyway, and it doesn't matter to me how... but that's very interesting... very. |

It probably wouldn't hurt to have it posted here with spoiler tags - it's a fairly well-asked question, by people who are interested in AST and it's relation to the Zelda storyline, and having it somewhere it can just be looked up quickly could be helpfull. |

Thanks for that, Duke - like I said before, the Master Sword is an often asked about question in regards to KnS... since it ties to ALttP, where the Master Sword is said to sleep forever at the end. |
