I didn't accuse but after reading what he said I was really hurt flamed the hell out of him, and simply asked if you were the same person. It was the reaction to my religion that caught me off guard. It's not a bad thing, but I was just suprised how kindly you reacted to it. Duke's explained a few things to a couple others before as a cautionary warning so I wouldn't get banned (), and just thought that he might have done the same to you ![]() Yeah, I'm embarrased that I'm viewed as a religious nut that's on the edge all of the time, but w/e.
...yet. That's the key. These things take time. People KNOW that laws about that could NEVER get passed in our current state, but I believe that it will be fought in the courts a couple decades from now. Personally, I think that legal unions should be enough for them. Sure they don't get the tax benefits, but they weren't meant to... so it'll get the tax benefits taken away from everyone (this applies specifically to the US). But this arguement's meant less to me after gay marraige got banned from Oregon (the most liberal state in the union), so why did it not get banned in conservative Texas? Well, it discriminated against them at the same time, but I'm 100% positive that it'll be banned in the US, as soon as the wording is correct. That's about all I have to say for now, unless you want to bring up specific issues with it. |

How was I supposed to act? Is there some kind of hate on for Mormons that I should be aware of? Would you have expected me to have acted differently if you had said you were Hindu or Presbyterian? I know a lot of different people from a lot of different religions, quite a few of them from very fundamental or evangelical groups. I myself actually work in a catholic school, so religions are not something that I have a 'problem' with. And like I said before, legal unions are pretty much exactly what it boils down to with gay marriage - it's not like you can expect religions to be forced to recognise such unions if they don't agree with them. |

Nah... I didn't expect that... it was... nevermind...
Well, they already can have "legal unions". But they're not happy with that because 1. they're not allowed to call it marraige. 2. where's the tax benefits? But as I said, even though some people WILL abuse it, doesn't mean we don't have a certain amount of checks and balances for people less than willing to start a family. ie. Divorce - you get a tax penalty, no more marraige benefits for them! Anyway, and legalizing gay marraige in the US, would also take away some of the rights that we have, and completely redefine marraige. |

Forget tax benefits, all the resulting wealth will go to the lawyers after divorce anyway. |

Yeah... too many people get divorced. Unfortunately people don't seem to realize that marraige is a 2 way thing. However the numbers in that document you gave me seem a bit too high. 80%? No, I'm fairly confident that it's less than that... |

Obviously the American Divorce rate is completely skewered because of... Lois Lane! She accounts for a good 50% of all divorces in the US, judging by the amount of times she's been married and then not married by the end of an issue Sorry for being totally off topic - I've just been looking over old comic book covers at www.superdickery.com and felt like adding that But seriously - she was even about to marry Satan at one point @_@
