Zelda Sound and Drama CD

I purchased Legend of Zelda Sound and Drama 2 disc cd set off of ebay and just received it this week. For those of you that don't know, the tracks from this cd were played during the broadcast of AST. It is quite a rare find on ebay, I have never seen it for sale on ebay. I think it is even more rare than Zelda's Adventure for the CDI. One of the main reasons I was not willing to spend a lot of money on the History of Zelda VHS tape was that this cd cost me over $200 but I felt it was worth it b/c it is very rare and I wanted to get it for the website/AST. Now someone like D4S could stream the MP3's into AST. Owning the cd gives us the flexibility to convert to the tracks to mp3's at any quality we want which is very nice especially since most of the tracks available for download are of lower quality. The cd's and 10 page pamphlet are in mint condition but the outside of the case had a few cracks.

Is the case any different from that of another CD anyway?
And what's in those ten pages? I think I should know, but can't remember.

Wow Cent, I'm very impressed. I was beginning to think that understanding exactly what was said before during the broadcast was a lost cause, let alone actually being able to restore the voiceacting. That's a wonderful find! Thanks for doing that for this project.

I've said it before, but this project has had some real dedicated Zelda fans working on it. I honestly haven't seen this kind of dedication to a project in years.

Do you happen to know if the entire broadcast for the game is on that 2-disc set or are there just a select few drama scenes?

Well I'm more psyched about this project now than I ever was before. Maybe further down the line once we have a transcript and the timing down to what was said, there could be two versions of BS Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets, one with Japanese audio and one with a fandub... preferably a good fandub. lol

Edit:

There is another auction for this Legend of Zelda Sound and Drama 2 disc set.

http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n41410590

It's currently around 12,000 yen or 120 dollars, but after the markup fees and shipping fees it would have been about the same in terms of overall cost.

Can the voice acting be translated as well? because something like subtitles should be possible... I think.

No, this CD does not have the voice acting, it just has the background music that was played.

The cd case is one of those thick double cd cases. The pamphlet is actually 14 pages long has the track listing, an introduction, some ALTTP art,a few pieces of art I don't recall seeing before and pictures of Konji Kondo and some of the other musicians but its all in Japanese. The cover of the pamphlet is on the link of the japnese auction that Skyewelse provided, its the one with Link running with his sword. The Sound and Drama CD is on a few Japanese auction sites but like I said I've only seen it on ebay once. Now if we can only get our hands on that VHS tape.

Darn, and here I thought the "drama" part of the cd set meant the same as "voice acting" since they tend to have popular radio drama cds for several anime and game series in Japan which are basically just voice acting and sound effects.

Anyhow, it'll be nice to have the original music for the game now. : )

Precisely. The last track on the first CD is supposed to be a prologue to ALttP... except that it makes little sense, because in it Link and Zelda are childhood friends (while as we all know she introduces herselves to Link in the game) and as he grows up Link trains to fight Ganon's invading monsters. The final part of the track which should re-enact the beginning of the game is also quite different seeing as Zelda is scurried away on a horse by G-man's minions.

There is. I can't remember if it was a preliminary translation or a complete one though. It's been quite a while.

I'm afraid not. I don't remember where I found it or if I bothered saving it (upon finding just how much it did not fit with the game's story) so I wouldn't even know if it's in my comp (or more likely back up disks) somewhere.

Of course if I happen to stumble upon it I'll let you know (I'd purposefully look, but I honestly don't have the time these days).

Wow, thats pretty sweet dude. So are the tracks different or are they just modified tracks from previous zelda games? To be honest I'm not really interested in voice acting. Just the music. Voice acting in zelda just doesn't sound right. They had voice acting in Navi Trackers which was very wierd.

The first CD has about a dozen remixed tracks from ALttP, the second is the original game soundtracks.

That sounds quiet interesting, even if it's not accurate to the game...

That sounds quiet interesting

...but it really isn't.

Especially the notion that Link's parents could be named Loretta and Banzetta.
