Where'd that Princess go?

According to the editor, there's supposed to be someone at some time within the lumberjack brothers' house. But I never ever saw anybody in it. Strange isn't it? |

Who's your favorite possum?

It's probably just a time or event triggered thing, right? Or am I underthinking this one?

I didn't see anything. I went there as soon as I started the game and kept it in turbo mode until the end. If someone shows up there, its not a time trigger. |

I also tried going there after killing Ganon but that's not it either. |

Very strange. Can you work out through the editor who they were and what they did? I have a theory, but I'll test it before I say anything stupid. EDIT: OK, two possibilities. The first is that you need a certain score (no-one's hacked a score-increase password yet). The second is that this was supposed to be the lumberjacks (since on the overworld they're a single sprite as well). The sign outside the house says they're outside in good weather, but it doesn't rain during Week 4! Therefore, logically, they don't go inside. It's also possible that them going inside was supposed to give you access to the tree and thus to the Magic Cape... <_< Oh, and I've found some errors: 1. when Trinexx goes into snake mode you can go up and out of the dungeon without beating him. This contradicts Zelda supposedly using all eight Tablets to break the seal. 2. OK this is more minor, but when you do beat him the ground goes strange where the door is supposed to be. [strike]3. it's impossible to get the Heart Piece in the cave on Death Mountain.[/strike] 4. if you jump off the ledge in Ganon's Tower (the one right in the entrance) you end up beneath the floor. |

[/QUOTE][transparency=50]3. it's impossible to get the Heart Piece in the cave on Death Mountain.[/transparency] Spoiler: click to toggle I noticed some bugs as well: First of all the pallette issue with the hero of light which I'm sure you already knew about. Also when I flew back to Death Mountain after beating it Zelda was in front of the portal even though she was following me which really screws with the Zelda following you. I think I know what caused this though. I changed the srm file back to week three and every time I do that he starts off in bed again. Well in this case Zelda came through the door. I'm guessing she doesn't do that after she's at Death Mountain. Anyway, just trying to make sure thats what caused it. Anyway the reason I played week 3 again was to get a pic of the water gate. I'm going to post some mockups here of several ways to make it look better. I've already made a few. Theres just one more I want to make first. |

working out who they were through the editor? sure if i had a list of sprite names to work with (right now it's using the lttp ones, ripped straight out of hyrule magic). That room is on my todo list, score is just rupees isn't it? It could always be what you think about the weather though ![]() Trinexx room - check the original rom (when i say original i mean *original*, of course use a save state to get to that room), it does that too. As for that ground thing, i think it's trying to open the door or something. I'm surprised duke serkol didn't pick up on #4. |

That makes sense! But there's no cave with the cape inside, as of now. The problem with Trinexx is well known and addressed in the read me. I fixed the issue with Ganon's Tower minutes after releasing the patch as I went for a last playtest. Strangely it never occurred before, perhaps because I went there ahead of time

About sprite identifying, what I mean is does it match any others? The witch moves indoors, so I assume her ID is the same in both places. Therefore would it be possible to search for a match? The score is separate from Rupees. You earn points for opening chests, rather than for the Rupees inside them. I tried maxing my Rupees and heading there, but no luck. Hm. |

Given the sign outside, I'm really growing persuaded that they were going to have a cave under the tree, but then changed their mind for some reason and the clues (the code making the lumberjacks go inside as well as the signpost) remained in the game (because they too had a tight weekly schedule to respect). It seems the explanation that makes the most sense. |

Ok, let's list evidence for and against a secrete cave below the tree (+) - the witch is animated to go inside her house when the rain starts. So it is possible that also other sprites are animated to go inside their houses - there's supposed to sit one in the lumberjack's house - the shild is a clue that they are supposed to go inside their house when the rain starts - we didn't find the magic cape (-) - there is no rain in week4 - Duke or Garret really should have found that cave - Nintendo may have changed their mind Hmmm, for me, I really would like to ensure this... I went with all the stuff from week4 to the lumberjack's house in week 1/2, but the zora (which were cutting the tree didn't leave when the rain started - but this doesn't mean that the lumberjacks won't leave the tree in week 4. Has anybody an idea how we may get rain into week4? maybe there's a PAR for TREs...? |

There's nothing to indicate a connection between the lumberjacks and the cape (and therefore the missing cape can't indicate there was a cave under the tree) As for your attempt, didn't you meet any messed up guards? Leaving the area you are supposed to be in during the current week gets you back into ALttP (as the other part was not coded for AST yet), so of course they didn't move. |

Sure, you are right, there may not be a connection between this strange lumberjack thingy and the cape.
I tested week 2 rain, and strangely the zora lumberjacks vanish... look: ![]() But the tree wasn't dashable

didn't leave when the rain started - but this doesn't mean that the lumberjacks won't leave the tree in week 4.
