bszld1.ips - Success (Timer cycles beyond 57 minutes, Wait signs On, Mascot unchanged, timer stays at "18:xx" BUT minutes will cycle through various characters until it hits 00 again)

bszld2.ips - Success (Timer cycles beyond 57 minutes, Wait signs on, same character changes to timer.)

The BS Zelda map 2 rom had already the protection crack. So the bszld2.ips is already apply in the rom.

EA EA EA EA EA EA at $040255 headered rom.

So my translation works, eh?

But I wonder if the text IS actually the same (in Japanese).

Very, very fine. Also shops or whatever are at different locations the correct text appears. However we have to play the whole game to check if there are any additional texts inside which are not translated by your patch yet.
I guess the text is the same in map 1 and 2, otherwise we may get messed up messages.

Anyways, I heard that Roto just disappeared after doing a lot for you guys, but did Dreamer Nom do the same thing?

Yeah, that seems to be the destiny of this page: great hackers appear, doing hell of a job for all of us... and then? Never seen again :(
However DN did say when he vanished that he just wanted to make a break. So if these news get to him somehow, he may reappear (if a bus didn't run over him in the meanwhile ;) ).
Unfortunately we can't contact him because his mail adress is down...

Tre, keep on :) That sounds good what you are attempting. Maybe you find a way! I've tested also DN's time.ips in the meanwhile but this cheat ends up in messed up graphics.

Well, I did a little searching for Dreamer Nom, and some of my first hits were in the Release changes for Snes9x 1.5.

http://snes9x.ipherswipsite.com/

Added partial Satellaview (BS) emulation. (Dreamer Nom, zones)

Updated DSP-4 code. (Dreamer Nom, Nach, z80 gaiden)

Those names in parenthesis are authors, right? If so, I think it's more than a coincidence that a user with the same name is helping with BS emulation for a SNES emu.

I'll search more about Dreamer Nom, and Roto just to see what I can find. ;)

Also, am I the only one that thinks this game is only patched with the anti-protection patch and the "seven minute skip" patch?

Wasn't that said on the page (at least for the seven minutes wait bit).

I'm waiting for Althena to ask for the original unpatched dump.

Yes, I searched also for him recently and found this too. But when DN first appeared he begun with making a hack for zsnes (to play BS-X games more accurately) before he started with the patches.
Unfortunately I guess that these are only the credits for his zsnes hack which were added 2 years ago.

But keep on, maybe you are lucky :)

But it couldn't hurt to ask one of the devs in the group if they have a contact with DN. ;)

I plan to pm one of them about it once I've taken a shot at finding Roto.

While you're at it try having a look for the Holy Grail, or directions to reach Atlantis ;)

I know what you mean, but I've tried my hand at finding the people who disappear from the internet before, and I've found some, and haven't others. Right now, from my cursory glances, it seems like Dreamer Nom would be much more likely to find than Roto. ;)

I'll be sure to stop by Atlantis and ask them if they've seen Roto. ;)

EDIT: btw, you guys wouldn't have Roto and Dreamer Nom's old email addys, would you? That might help me in my search.

Duke: I do agree that it's already been stated that the seven minute jump was already added... and the copy protection ~had~ to be removed... or we couldn't be playing the game. However... what Eddzzz mentions of the address on the headered rom having part of the time fix code already, it still has me questioning just what else was added to this rom.

Eddzzz: I think you have a few good ideas on what you're doing when it comes to patching. You managed to fix the music for your emulator, and so I'm assuming you have at least a cursory knowledge of what parts of a rom to hack into to get what you want... any suggestions for an ips tool that would allow me to view the code of a game and make a change to certain addresses? Most important to me is figuring a way to hack into the section of the rom between "$CC:0035 AD B3 00" and "$CC:004C 4C 1F 02".

In the "code_fix_new" notes, it is showing how to alter the weeks based on the triforce pieces collected. However, because there is a "sword fix" in the code it is what I think is crashing the game (along with the menu fix and other "fixes" not needed on a "clean" rom). Now, I'm going to be honest, knowing my luck, I'm going to wreck the rom I'm working on and create nothing but bsod out of it, but I really feel that this would do something.

Anyone willing to suggest their patching programs they've been using? Duke, I'm looking at you here, too. You did those SolCal patches and the translation patch. And Eddzzz, you did that music patch rather quickly.

Both which I think can be found at Zophar's... okay... that's great for doing graphics and text. What about pure address alterations? I'm thinking if I make a ~very~ watered down and hacked up version of the patch I'm testing out (slice out EVERYTHING but the weeks) I might get a very buggy, but very working, rom that switches weeks by Triforce pieces. :)

Hmmmm... a sweet treat that comes along with the update. I think I'll have to sit tight just to see what it is. :)

Though I still wish there was something I could be doing to edit the game and fix the weeks.

I did get those editing programs, Duke... though it'll take a long while for me to figure them out.
