There's that image again, at 5.24...As well as a few more after that... Is there anyway that someone could put the intro into the beginning of the game? That would be more life like... |

For the records, I think Con will positively have a field day with this. And he's also the only one who will understand that remark, but it's alright  |

Wow! That is absolutely fantastic *lol* Duke's right ![]() This video solves many questions: we see how this game was chosen from the BS-X Bios (that DN made once). Then we have a few title screens (but I wonder why we see Link) - can anybody translate the text, if there are some interesting informations? And now we know why we had to wait 7 minutes. And we have an ending screen Now it would only be interestig to see what happened after Map 2 when Ganon is dead - I mean if those strange tiles were used BTW: I like the music which is played during those wait signs... |

Okay so, conclusions that should be drawn from this video: first and foremost, it's evident that the video (especially the first part) was being commented by someone that is not the game's narrator. Secondly, it turns out that Nintendo already used the high quality music download for the original BS Zelda. Evidently they made SNES remixed tracks (the one Roto got to play with his patch) but then buried them in the code the same way they did with the ALttP music in AST upon making the CD quality music download a reality. One has to wonder if this happened right away or on a repeated airing of the game (while it originally did use its SNES tracks?) Could this be what "BS Zelda Remix" was about? A repeated airing of the original BS Zelda but with remixed music?? Sadly, these tracks were composed for the game and are not available to us through a soundtrack CD. On the plus side, we never got to play the game with crazy techno music and singing near the end (seriously, wtf?) Furthermore, it turns out the many Timed Events are not just random crap happening for no reason but incantations cast by some old man (presumably the one from the first cave) who is also the voice giving you advice when the flashing sign appears (and that explains why he says "Heed my words" after you get the sword) Now if somebody can translate what that fake fortune teller in the "intro" says (and maybe more of this video), I'd be a happy man. Also somebody please find a way to convert this thing without losing any more quality so I can ask our host to upload it on the site ![]() I'd also like to know whose voice was heard before timed events in AST, the old man (Sahasrahla/Aginah) or Zelda's. Can you ask Makuchan, Yuna? And also if you visited some sort of fake fortune teller before starting AST too? [Edit] And I realize just now I forgot to thank the guest who brought this to our attention. Thank you so much!

It could be they first made the standard MIDI tracks and then, when St. GIGA showed they could do streaming audio, they decided to jack it up a notch. It could even be it was meant to be a test run of a later cartridge game to gauge user interest (the way I understand it, the Satellaview offered preview demos of some sort). That would also explain the double music, in that the cartridge release would fall back on the MIDI tracks. |

Possible... but considering BS Zelda was the first game aired, I still think they may have gone back to it and added the remixed tracks on a later airing

This is incredible! Finally we get some video of how the system actually worked, and on top of that REAL gameplay footage of BS Zelda. How can you download videos off YouTube? EDIT: ****, and thanks for the site! |

I converted and merged (slight skipping might be noticeable when part changes) the video into DivX avi. There was probably some slight quality loss, but if you only intend to watch the video, it should do. Because of the size (~45MB), I had to split the file into 10 parts for easier uploading. Download them from below: http://keen.sitesled.com/misc/BS-X.-.BS.Zelda.part01.rar http://keen.sitesled.com/misc/BS-X.-.BS.Zelda.part02.rar http://keen.sitesled.com/misc/BS-X.-.BS.Zelda.part03.rar http://keen.sitesled.com/misc/BS-X.-.BS.Zelda.part04.rar http://keen.sitesled.com/misc/BS-X.-.BS.Zelda.part05.rar http://keen.sitesled.com/misc/BS-X.-.BS.Zelda.part06.rar http://keen.sitesled.com/misc/BS-X.-.BS.Zelda.part07.rar http://keen.sitesled.com/misc/BS-X.-.BS.Zelda.part08.rar http://keen.sitesled.com/misc/BS-X.-.BS.Zelda.part09.rar http://keen.sitesled.com/misc/BS-X.-.BS.Zelda.part10.rar Gotta say, that intro video looked quite interesting. I wonder whether it would actually be possible to recreate all this into the rom? Also I see you have been discussing about the music and about the Remix title. After seeing this video, I think that this so called "BS Zelda Remix" title was actually the very original The Legend of Zelda with 16-bit graphics, the mascots and some other changes. Also I think this could have worked like the ALTTP download, so you could play it whenever you felt like it. This would explain why lists that list this title never include these "weeks". ![]() The music that we have been listening to all this time most likely originated from this. When they decided to create MAP1 they just used this "Remix" as a base and didn't bother to remove the music, just ripped off the code which was supposed to make it play. I did find one fault with my theory, and it is that if the programmers were too lazy to remove the music whilst creating MAP1, why would they have removed the graphics of all those bosses that didn't exist in BS Zelda MAP1/2... <_< |

The Youtube description describes it as being from 1995.8.7, i.e. August 7, 1995. The end says "8/6" which would be August 6, 1995. Strangely, sites claim that BS Zelda was first broadcasted on August 9, 1995. Also, a machine translation from makuchan's blog by Google:
And a machine translation by Infoseek Japan's service
Are you sure that the video could be of a later broadcast? |

That a good point about the listing of only one game, not weeks... but I don't find it very likely, sadly (or we'd have better roms of it, if it was possible to dump it at any time after the airing). At any rate, I believe that translation Vehek presented us with to be accurate, so that means this footage really is of the first airing of this game (the first airing of a BS-X game even!) Anyway, thanks for the movies. I'll download them when my connection stops acting up ![]() What's the total size? Would it be much bigger to have no quaility loss at all? This is the only footage of this part of the game in existance (for all we know) and I'd like for it to be distributed and preserved properly. |

There are players that can handle FLV files, so it's not an unusable format. You could just stick it up as-is and also offer a version in WMV or something. |

I compared the videos side by side and the quality loss is so minor that it should be mostly unnoticeable. However, if you're going to try recreating the pictures and whatnot seen on the tape, you'd probably be best off by using the original file. |

I've been thinking, I know it sounds completely unrealistic, but from a newbie...Do you think that the people speaking could have been people giving a walkthrough? Wikipedia says that their was people from radios, etc. who were giving a walkthrough the entire time. By the way, coincidentally, I downloaded a .flv to .mpeg converter today, so I'll convert the videos and upload them if anyone wants. EDIT: Even better, how about I ask Makuchan for the original files when he comes on next? He hasn't been on for ages... |
