I have a VERY VERY strange finding while examining Map 2 tiles. The following pics show tiles which are ~not~ part of Map1 (Except the girl mascot): ![]() All tiles seen in this picture are a Map 2 innovation (like the improved Whirlpool) and are found over and below the girl mascot tiles. I did not notice an effect with these tiles while playing the game. First a blinking star, which developes to a comet. If I didn't know it better I'd say it is part of an intro where the "Hero of Light" is beamed into Hyrule (like that beam which takes you away after finishing AST. |

That is a bizarre find, Con. For a moment there, just in looking at it... I almost assumed it was a "item is falling from the sky!" kind of effect, but what you said makes more sense to me.

Duke, can you check if there is more japanese text in the map than that that you already translated for Map 1? Maybe this lightens up the things (but also maybe not if it was a spoken intro). |

Yeah, that's very much like the AST intro, and it would make sense that it too is missing from the dump for whatever reason. Since there are two types of meteor/shooting star thing maybe they were unique to each gender... Alternately, it could be a meteor shower was a planned gameplay element at some point. You never know.

Ah, intro text? I doubt that, if they were going the AST way with Map2, it would have been all spoken. And if there was, it'd be in Japanese, which obviously wouldn't make finding it any easier... |

Yes, I know that it's not easy... but if we have only a little chance to get pieces of a possible story we should go for it it. And you have experience in examining Kanji in the rom - give it a try Garrett, that is no bad idea, but I think it is more departure /arrival of the mascots. I animated it in the way I think it is correct. But this is only a suggestion, it is quite hard to decide which frame belongs to which. Arrival (this one I decided to be an arrival because the comet ends in an explosion. I don't know if the beginning star is correct, you can't go after the color in the tile editor.) Departure ![]() (this one I decided to be a departure, because the blue dot in the middle goes upwards and builds a star. Unfortunately the comet get's smaller while the blue middle star gets bigger) Another possibility is that this is both arrival and departure if some tiles are double used and there is really a girl's and a boy's version: ![]() It's like a puzzle... Any suggestions are welcomed
