I just want to share some knowledge here. If you happen to have a modded Xbox, you can play all these roms on your TV using an xbox controller. I had to tinker with it a little bit but here is what I discovered: All the latest variations of the Map One and Map Two games work with "ZsnesBox 2.7" but the Tablet games do not work at all. I believe this is a build from Version 1.14 based on how well it works with these games. The tablet games work with "xSnes9x_V1.42_17June2004" but the Map One and Map Two games do not work at all. These emulators also have save states and all that too, so it's really nice. I am really happy with how well the games look and play using these emulators. If you have a modded xbox, I'm sure you can find these emulators easily enough on the web. As to how to actually get the roms on the xbox, you'll need something like FlashFXP, but I think that stuff is beyond the scope of this site. Enjoy. |

Good bit of information there, Brian. Now I'll explain why the games work on the emulators the way they do. The build of Zsnes you are using for Xbox's Snes emulation is based around the 1.xx builds of Zsnes, and as such will work the same as if you were using 1.14, 1.42, or even 1.5x. Map 1 and Map 2 work beautifully on Zsnes... and that's how these two roms are being restored... for the sake of playing on Zsnes over other emulators. As for AST, it works only on Snes9x versions... that it's working on the 1.42 build makes perfect since, but any older versions (and even newer versions coming out) will not work for playing this game. AST has not been properly developed for use on Zsnes, and likely will not get this support. D4 had done support for the oldest revision of Week 1 to allow it to work on Zsnes, but that coding is long outdated and unusable for the newer version of AST. Also, if you have a Dreamcast, and DreamSnes, you can play Map-1 and Map-2 nearly flawlessly on it. The only downside is that DreamSnes is only able to emulate at around 95% speed (with full sound and transparency active, you can get 100% if you drop both of those, but why would you want to!?) for the majority of the game, but screens filled with many enemies will drop the FPS like crazy and make it crawl. |
| I'm officially retired from beta testing, and resign my duties to those who have the time to do it. | |

I happen to have a fondness for this kind of stuff. I was testing the BS Zelda maps on SNESemulDS for the DS. One thing I thought odd (although, I might need to double-check to make sure my ROMs aren't outdated), is that BS Zelda Map 1 can play all the way through that with just the typical graphical glitches most games suffer from, but the "Restored" map 2 seems to crash when I try to enter the 2nd week. It kinda baffled me, assuming the games are essentailly the same and patched similarly. Probably not too big a deal though - the most important thing the BS Zelda games should be compatible with are, IMHO, the real hardware, the Wii Virtual Console (lulz, like THAT'S Ever gonna happen), and the latest versions of the most popular emulators for PC, FOLLOWED by the most popular emulators for non-handhelds like the Xbox. Even if the games do work on a portable, the way our path is heading (Towards a possiblity of doing MP3 hacks), they might be rather large for them. (Perhaps we'll need to have even -more- branches of the finished products than there are currently?) |

You know, guys, you can just fullscreen this on a laptop and hook it up to a tv, then play with a game pad It's easier than modding an x-box, or messing with an old dreamcast.

Not really. I'd need to get a laptop first. Then I'd need to deal with Windows.
