After some real hardcore coding a new treasure is added to Third Quest and Fourth Quest. The first person who finds this treasure [glow=green,5]What it is, Location and What it does[/glow] - post here to get an entry in the Hall of Fame! Please use [glow=red,5]Spoilers[/glow] when you post it here! It is available both in Third Quest and Fourth Quest. You can choose either of the games. Direct links: Third Quest Fourth Quest Oh, and it could be that some bugs occur (like collecting the treasure at two locations or so). Please also post occuring bugs! |

Is the item in the same location for both quests? Or do we get no clues? I have a feeling this is gonna be tough; so many blocks, trees, and walls, one of which is now pushable, burnable, or bombable.. and MAYBE these are not even the answer! Fun! Now if I were Con's hidden treasure, what and where would I be? Maybe I would be the BS-X satellite, fallen from space after a transmissionless decade of no maintenance, now hidden in the "Con Houlihan" room of BS Zelda, and my use would be to give Ganon cancer from overexposure to my powerful electromagnetic field. Ganon does NOT deserve the quick painless death of a silver arrow! ...but I'm not Con's hidden treasure, so I guess I'd better shutup, download the game, and just commence the search. The "BS Zelda Fifthish Quest"! On a side note (and to tie this post back to the original question ), I just realized how ugly the words "push", "burn", and "bomb" look with the suffix "-able", and the word "fifth" with the suffix "-ish". Maybe the treasure is something Link can use to attack Ganon with an endless string of unreadably suffixed words. ...wait a second-- "unreadably" ?!?! They really do keep coming!!!But seriously, good idea with the search, Con. I'm gonna dive right in. Phideaux OUT! |

*haha* ok, one tipp: Where do you see items you can collect? And it is not a new secret room. I encountered a less serious but nerving bug: the item shows up over and over again when you enter the room... I'll try to fix it. And yes, the loacation and everything is the same in both games ![]() |

Wow... Con, your tip... why didn't I think to look THERE for a clue?! I guess that's why they pay you the big bucks, huh? The help is appreciated, but if I could respectfully ask one thing in the interest of fairness.. next time you have a clue PM it to me instead of carelessly slathering it all over the message board for the world to see. I don't want anyone getting an unfair advantage over me in the future! ![]() In the meantime, I finally found out what the smell in my bedroom is: the golden aroma of VICTORY! ...pending your approval of course. Below are the details for you to verify: WHAT IT IS: Spoiler: click to toggle WHERE IT IS: Spoiler: click to toggle WHAT IT DOES: Spoiler: click to toggle I'd like to thank my Parents, my High School coach, and God... "God" being Con, of course

Don't worry ![]() All emulators work... and I give no more clues I made a small bugfix to prevent the treasure from respawning - so you can (or not) download the new version from above. It doesn't affect your current progress if you update the version. |

Done You have an eternal entry in the glorious Hall of Fames now Did you encounter any bugs btw (one of my main reasons I made this treasure hunt - we need playtesters :P)? Oh, and how did you like the Spoiler: click to toggle ? That was tough to hack into...

I did like Spoiler: click to toggle These little Easter Egg hunts really would be a great "promotional" incentive to encourage playtesting. I did find a couple bugs. Would you rather me post them here or in the Bug Reports? |

Bugs: I'll start with the most detrimental. This may be the "Sword Bug" I read about on the main page. Everyone knows that the Bubbles will disable Link's sword for a second when they hit him. I found three kinds of Bubbles: the first kind function properly, the second kind disable the sword forever, and the third kind do not disable the sword. I found that the type of Bubble you get is room-specific, and in order to enable the sword again after hitting the second kind, Link must either die or get hit by the THIRD kind. The easiest example I found of this is in Level 7: in the fourth room north of the entrance (counting the entrance room), there is a north-south room empty except for two Bubbles. The Bubbles in this room "permanently" disable the sword. Now go two rooms south, the one with the Bubble and three mummies. This Bubble is the third kind. Its first hit will restore Link's sword, and hits after that do nothing. This is not the only example I found, but I would have to go back to remember the others. Would be more than happy to do so. Don't worry; that's the worst I found. The second bug concerns the point of the game immediately following level 8. After the victory music of getting the last triforce piece, Link is returned to the overworld. There is lightning and the music has stopped... but the music starts again and persists if Link enters and re-exits and cave or dungeon. The only cave so far that doesn't do it is the one at the origin screen (instead of fighting Ganon, exit. The BGM fade-out will work). Also, if you die in the overworld while there is no music, the music returns when you respawn. Maybe because it's a week 3 ROM? Finally, this one might not be a bug, but I noticed that Link only does the "Item use" animation with the boomerang only when throwing it, not when catching. The NES version (if I remember right) uses the animation for both, and even stops Link for a split-second when he catches it if he's walking. Maybe it was meant to be different, like when Serkol pointed out the walking-oriented control difference, but just thought I should throw it out there. Well, there you have it. I'll run through it a couple more times and see what kind of trouble I can elicit. I have the funny feeling I'm forgetting to mention something else I found while looking for the new item... ... ... hmmm |

Wow, thanks for this report ![]()
Everything is ok here, I can calm you down. The red bubbles disable your sword forever until you touch a blue one (like this in the room with the mummies), die or visit a fairy pond (or take medicine). The blinking bubbles only disable the sword for some seconds. So the blue bubbles are your "friends" - check http://www.bszelda.zeldalegends.net/m2walkthrough.shtml#10 There is even a time related event (we discovered 1-2 weeks ago first) that turns the nasty red bubbles into blue ones ![]()
Just tried this. It was fanfare - lightning - Overworld theme. I did not have to enter a cave or so. Maybe this is an emulator issue. I used zsnes 1.14
Good eyes I wouldn't have noticed

But now that you've thrown it out here, will it come back? Kidding, but I don't think we need to worry about this. |
