what do you think about following suggestion for your restoration project:
select/continue screen: track 0A (chimes only - now it is 09)
Zelda rescued: track 09 going on until you leave the cave to hear the fanfare.
Bad ending screen: track 0A (chimes only)

Sounds good :)

Good ending screens: track 09

For that, I would prefer to keep the fanfare.

Agreed! Keep the fanfare, or I will cry!
I'm officially retired from beta testing, and resign my duties to those who have the time to do it.

Heh... how do you think ~I~ feel about that? I'm one of the few people that knows both maps by heart and would have seen it a billion miles away... if I had been here the last week to see. :P

Great :) I added you for FQ and phideaux3 for TQ (and hope you will find your time to play through FQ as well - it would be great if I knew that there aren't any bugs ;) )

Japp - I made a mistake: I should have given a date one week before when the treasure hunt will be ready to take off. More people would have been informed and more may have participated. Though, I think Phideaux3 would have been the champ as well - he needed only one day O_o

Tormentedone, you scarred the hell outta me! When I read Con's post about the hunt, nobody had replied yet -- to me that meant I could get a head start. While I was foolishly taking precious time with all that tangential "BS-X satellite reentry" stuff, YOU had managed to post (and in my mind, already beaten level 4)! Thank you; finding the treasure wouldn't have been as fun if I didn't think I was racing against someone... (kind of) like the original broadcast!

At least there is no music in the restoration (only thunder sound) as far I remember. Anyway, the video has music (but none we have in the rom), so I think it is ok if we leave it this way.

I like it better with thunder only. More suspenseful on the way back to the cave. Didn't the streaming nature of the broadcast prohibit this?

well... it's possible to put the new item in a new room, isn't it? Like I said, some random block or tree that didn't originally reveal a room. Maybe even put new clues in the game if the spot is "too random", or implement a trading system! Okay, okay, I know that's probably more of Zelda Classic's domain, but I can have my fantasies, can't I?!

Heh, I think it's fine just having it where it is really. It was really meant to showcase the new item that "Didn't exist" in the game beforehand. I had suggested another secret item to be put into the game, but I highly doubt it would be of interest or worth the extra days of work to do it. <_<

TQ/FQ - no overworld music when found all Triforce

I know this is not quite my business but... is that a good idea? Most people when playing Zelda save right up to the final battle and then they go around the game looking for stuff they missed. It won't be much fun going around without music.

I remember in Metroid Fusion, when you were ready to go to the last battle, a very cool music track would be heard... problem is, it would be heard no matter where in the game you went... so from being cool it rapidly went to being unbearable >_<

Good point, and I don't get it that way anyway... I have no clue why the game always does play the wrong music when I try to hack no sound into... means there will be overworld music when it is dark ;)

You're right. Since the goal of TQ/FQ is to make BS Zelda into a "regular" Zelda game, the game shouldn't assume that after the last triforce piece, the player is going directly to Ganon. However, it is fitting IMHO for the timed (original) BS Zelda, as the player has only minutes after the lightning starts. That's assuming an uncracked timer also.

Maybe I'm biased, because I never liked the BS version of the overworld music due to the terribly low note resolution (1/8!! Are you kidding?!!)... but again, just MHO ^_^' ^_^'

I would have loved if we could hack in the Magical Key... but the only way it would be useful is to have it in an extremely later part of the game (D7... D6 if it's later in the dungeon... maybe replace a timer event for it?). Or a hidden cave in the last half of the game that you can't get without first having either the stepladder, or the raft.

A guy can dream. :D

I do that often... ;) nice would be if only the L2 ocarina can bring you to a small island and you burn down a bush there or whatever to reveal this key :)
But I surely will not hack this.

Eh, it'd be best just to put it into an "Old Man" room and get it that way, or something. :P

I'd have to delete an item pointer for this I guess... You know, there are no more 30 rupee moblins now available. Means, if I change e.g. the medicine woman to offer the maic key - all medicine women will offer this key.

I ~could~ edit the pointer to an old man giving only advice to this key thing. That should work, but I really have no time for doing any more patching thingies... :(
