On a bit of a random note, I recall that pretty much any Zelda fan I know that's dissed Twilight Princess basically had an opinion of "WIND WAKER WAS BEST ZELDA AFTER ALL". I don't know if you'll take that as being of any importance though. (I usually feel annoyed by that kind of opinion though because they never dared say that when Wind Waker was actually out, and this seems to be a recent trend with some other Nintendo franchises too.) If you're looking for a "Different" Zelda, Four Swords Adventures has a bit more of a retro feel than the other Gamecube Zeldas. Phantom Hourglass also tries to take a different gameplay approach, but you seem to have a thing against the Toon Link, anyhow. And on the note of PS2 games, I will resist the urge to make a snide comment about Xenosaga being a 50-hour long movie disguised as a game (uh, whoops) and instead ask, have you played Okami? |

Heh, I guess I don't fit that mold then... since I don't like Wind Waker, nor do I intend to play Twilight Princess. It did look "pretty", sure... but I'm not wasting time trying to play it. As for Four Swords Adventures... I gave it a shot and it was amusing for a short while, but I couldn't find anyone willing to play me in it after a while. So I got rid of it. Still have my gameboy advance and the link for GC though. Ah well. It was only fun as a "Multiplayer adventure"... and I've found I don't tend to want to play with other people if I'm wanting to have a serious gaming mood. I will have to half-agree about Xenosaga... it's brother title, Xenogears, was actually a lot better... if you could get past it being a horribly ugly looking game during the non-anime sequences. But yeah... XS is a LOT of movies with a bit of gaming included here in there. Still fun though. I did like FFX for a short while, but never got past the introduction of "Blitz Ball"... thought it was too stupid. Oh, I've not touched Okami though... haven't heard of it before now. Then again, as I look at my shelf of PS2 titles, I notice surprisingly it's ~mostly~ comprised of RPGs, "collections" and fighting games. I'd make a list, if I thought anyone would be interested, but I doubt that's the case.Anyway... I moved our discussion to "General Discussion" because it has little to do with playing playing on the real hardware, let alone AST at all. Hope no one minds. |

A terrible, terrible sign of the failures of Capcom marketing the game. To think, the Wii port is gonna be completely overshadowed by Super Smash Bros. Brawl when it comes out... God Capcom, it's like the ultimate sabotage, besides Peeving off many Phoenix Wright fans with Apollo Justice, and making Street Fighter IV look like a backpedaling to Street Fighter 2 rather than a progressive game like Street Fighter 3. |

I admit that I honestly gave up on Capcom after Megaman 6-8, Megaman Zero, Battle Network, Street Fighter III, and all the other not-worth-mentioning titles that also urked me beyond anything I've ever played. Same with how Square/Enix/Square-Enix ruined the Final Fantasy series for me with FFX-2, FF:Crystal Chronicles, making FFXI online only (which wouldn't upset me if I didn't absolutely hate MMORPS), and making FFXII a not-online-only version of FFXI that plays like crap to people not accustomed to the playing style. As well as Tactics Advance's cutsie little story plot and the "Judge" system telling me "Okay, fight to the death here, but you can't heal. If you heal you lose. Okay... FIGHT!". @#%&. I'm thinking we should just save time and write a list of games I DO play, and you can point and laugh at me for being an old fart.

But I didn't hate Ocarina of Time, or Majora's Mask (well not too much anyway)... just Wind Waker, and it's infectious disease it spread to all future titles in the series. TWW to me, is like CD-i Zelda is to all sane people in the world. But maybe that's going a little far there in my hate.

Actually I'm afraid that I did. Street Fighter III just didn't capture my attention, much in the same way I couldn't get into the "Capcom vs. F**king Everything!" titles. A lot of the new fighters didn't even make me blink, let alone interest me enough to learn more about them. That, and the shift in the fighting moves sequences threw me off after getting so used to the controls that I'd been using ever since SF II:CE came out. I should clearify, because I can sense my Kiddo Senses tingling. It wasn't the graphics (I was pleased with those for the most part), it wasn't the story (SF has a story??!??)... it was the AI being insane in some parts and retarded the rest of the time, the unbalanced moves, the changes to my favorite characters and to the way some of the old moves changed. I gave it a shot, and I didn't like it. I quickly fired up SF:CE on my MAME and just went back to playing that. And I will also mention on the record that I am not a fan of the Dark Stalkers titles, or King of Fighters either. That has some bearing on why I can't get into SF3. |

I'll... just take that as "I don't like the traditional fighters nearly as much as I initially implied when talking about my lack of interest in Smash Bros." and move on from that. :| |

*Laughs* Well not entirely true, but I couldn't get used to the fighting style. And it frustrated me to the point I stopped playing it. I still have ALL the Arcade versions of Dark Stalkers, King of Fighters, Street Fighter (from the first with just Ryu and Ken, to the SFA series... minus SF3 since CPS3 is NOT emulated properly to my knowledge) and many other fighters. But... even with my PS2 controller I still find that it's a button masher nightmare to play some of them. Then again, I have this absurd obsession with cranking my difficulty to 8-stars and turbo to 2-stars (out of four)... that could be part of the problem... Oh, I felt I should mention that part of my dislike for SF3 might stem from the fact that I have ONLY played it on PS2. And that was two-player vs mode when I had no clue how to control the d**n game yet. I got okay with it, but only because I use Chun Li, and she's the ultimate spam fighter. |

"and it's infectious disease it spread to all future titles in the series. TWW to me, is like CD-i Zelda is to all sane people in the world. But maybe that's going a little far there in my hate." You should really give it a try, Tre the gameplay and story is really good despite the graphics. (BOO ZELDA CD-I >( ) Oh, and how did we get from talking about ast on real hardware to street fighter? |

Just to update you, CPS3 is now emulatable. (Although since Dreamcast eas emulated first, you could've theoretically got the Dreamcast ports of nearly the entire CPS3 collection except for Warzard/Red Earth.) If you want to try to get around to emulating CPS3 games I'd recommend that you go back to checking out Street Fighter 3. I also happen to like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, but that might be the Manga Fanboy in me... (Also, for the novelty of playing a game that hasn't gotten a console version proper -yet-, pick up the formerly-mentioned Red Earth.) |

@Cookiemonster - Maybe once I have a little more time I'll at least try Twilight Princess. I have about thirty games on my "ZOMG PLAYME!" list right now... and hundreds on my "Hey, why'd you download us if you don't play us?!" list. @Kiddo - I haven't done the emulation scene in a while... since CPS3 can be emulated now, I should... I wanted to play through as Chun Li through all three SF3 titles, just because she's the only character I really care about in the series, and I like seeing the endings she has. I'd be all "ZOMG SAUCE!" for a link, but that's hypocritical of me if I did. As for emulating Dreamcast... I have one, hooked up and set up already... so I wouldn't really do the whole "Download DC titles!" thing. I haven't been able to find old DC games out in my town lately, I think I'll have to resort to emulation of the pure arcade games... which I prefer anyway. I get better speed and quality that way anyway. Thank you for letting me know this nugget of information, I'll have to get them just to see if five years "distance" is more than enough to interest me. |
