I haven't checked the emulators in a while, has SNESemulDS gotten better or surpassed...? (Also, topic title made me think it was related to "Music score" or "high scores" or something. )

Yeah... I was thinking this was going to be a "Post your high score!" thread... until I realized this was the Map 1/2 section of the forum. Still, it's pretty cool to be able to play the games on a DS... though I likely can still port them to the Dreamcast (I lost my SBI tools) and play them on that. |

Last I recall, Dreamcast emulation was still not that great. It can't even run the ROMs at a solid 60fps. Considering that SNESEmulDS -can- (regardless of it's other limitations), I think that seems rather sloppy to me. |

That is indeed SNEmul DS in that screenshot... dunno if it's better since I begun using it a few days ago, but I am experiencing lots of problems with layers (and how can BS Zelda possibly work while Kirby's Dreamland 3 does not??) |

@KC - You are indeed correct that the Snes emulation isn't top-notch (speed is between 70%~85% depending on sprites on screen, transparency, etc), however, I turn off the sound emulation (I have heard the music so much that I can play it in my head accurately to the game when I un-mute it, complete with transitions into dungeons/caves/etc), and I turn off transparency when I don't need it. That gets me to about 95% speed, sometimes "100%". Though when I want it in all it's glory and amazing awesomeness, I just play it on the computer through my DVI-to-HDMI connection to my widescreen HDTV and play it with a wireless PS2 DualShock controller. Which pwns anything the DS could do... other than "Ooooh I can touch the screen!" (which I can effectively emulate with my tablet pen and pad). But that's not the point at all, so I'll shush about that. I think it's awesome that the DS can emulate SNES (seemingly) as well as the PSP... and without having to brick your system or risk unstable firmware downgrades to do it. That's the only reason my PSP isn't playing SNES and Sega Genesis titles right now (Especially since my PSP connects also to my tv). |

I'm playing it on my DS too, but I am not experiencing any problems w/layers. Are you using ver 0.6? |

If you want a good TV emulatin' machine, an Xbox is solid, and obviously we got a nice thread for BS Zelda on the Wii. And on the note of other emulator apps for the DS, JenesisDS is disturbingly good. Once again, it's comparable to the latest Genesis emulator for Dreamcast, which I find -disturbing-. Especially since I'll probably never see Jojo's Bizarre Adventure on my DS... well, outside of Jump Ultimate Stars. |

How do you check what version of the DS you have?!?! I know how to check on the Nintendo64, although I might need to refresh my memory on that, but I'm not sure at all on how to check which DS version you have

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATp7gO_iVa0 Linking this as well. The new SNES9XGX version can play BS Zelda MAp 1 ones. I had a bit of a problem with the Map 2 Restoration Project ROM though. It seems to crash before I can start the "Second Week". |

Thinknig about it, I had a similar issue with SNESemulDS - Where Map 1 could progress further than Map 2. Could this be an issue that could potentially be a problem if we try to do some good "real hardware" fixes? |

Kirby's Dreamland 3 uses the SA-1 coprocessor chip. This is why the game doesn't work. Not many emulators support SA-1. Also even if it did, the DS doesn't have the processing power to emulate it very fast as emulating the SA-1 takes a considerable amount of power. I've only ever used the SNES DS emu that was ported from GBA. I forget the name, but it was very fast. But unfortunately it was far from perfect. |
