Who's your favorite possum?
Alrighty, folks. I leave on my LDS Mission *tomorrow*. I will not have access to this web site for two years, consequently, and can virtually guarentee I won't be posting during that time.

I know I'm not as active as I used to be, so it's not really a big deal, but I wanted everyone to know! It's been real, it's been fun.

Duke, you're awesome. I know you don't really get along with me anymore, but you are a wonderful person. And you deserve to know that.

I single him out, because apart from Garrett, he was probably the first person I became intarweb friends with on this forum ;)

The rest of you are wonderful, and have made the BS Zelda games and "experience" (meaning the forums) wonderful. I could not have asked for a better time.

-Ciao!

Take care of yourself, Possum, and good luck on your mission. We'll see you in two years then.
I'm officially retired from beta testing, and resign my duties to those who have the time to do it.

Uh? I don't?

I thought we actually got along better after that particular summer in which you uhm... "threatened to go MIA", so to speak.

Anyway bye Possum! Try to have fun while you're not converting people (I mean, seriously, is there a rule against internet connections on missions?).

I mean it, even if you don't drob by here, do remember that all work and no play make Possums... something something ;)

That's assuming the Large Hadron Collider doesn't kill us all between today and October ;)

You're the third person I know to make that joke... ~_~

Anyway, LHC tests thus far went without a hitch (though the first test caused the super magnets to heat up a little, which pushed the secondary testing back a little). So Possum isn't headed to a doomed country or anything.

That's about what I've heard. The primary firing tests (just to see if they can steer the photons) were within tolerance range, but they're still not ready to do the "Big Bang" experiments just yet.

I'm actually following this quite closely, because it's of interest to me.

Oh, bah, looks like I missed this. This is what I get for having a life outside the internet. Anyway, you go have fun converting people to a religion I disagree with while I stay here and, er, don't convert anybody to the religion I do agree with? Yeah, that makes sense I guess. <_<

I think I like the way you think, Garrett!!!! ;) I can't stand some Christian missionaries, (not all, however), and ultraconservative, fundamentalist, and right-wing Christians in general, mainly because they have an aggravating tendency to deny other people's beliefs, and pushing their own bigotry at the same time... :head explodes:

Christians deny other religions because this is exactly what God instructs them to do. You see, Christianity is monotheistic--only one deity is worshipped and all other deities are false (they either don't exist or are actually demons); logically, the religions built around their worship must also be false, meaning their supposed "truths" are lies created by men (or worse, by demons). The Ten Commandments forbid following the practises of other gods, and various bible verses describe the Lord as "a jealous God" (with dire consequences for those who turn to other gods); there is no room for other religions in the Christian walk because it might not take much to make God angry. While to non-believers this disrespect of other religions is bigotry, to Christians this is just and righteous behaviour because it is what God has directed. Of course some ways of telling people that their religions are bogus will be better than others, but it does not mean those that are more aggressive in their delivery are necessarily in the wrong.

Monotheistic religions are in stark contrast to other forms of religion, which have a specific deity or pantheon of deities but believe that other religions' deities also exist. The forward-thinking Greeks even had an altar to "Agnostos Theos" (literally, "the unknown god"), which they made sacrifices on just in case they were unknowingly angering a deity they didn't know about yet. At various points in the bible the Israelites face other nations who have heard of the Lord and fear His power (e.g. in 1 Samuel 4:6-8 the Philistines say, "A god has come into the camp ... Woe to us! Who will deliver us from the hand of these mighty gods?"); despite not worshipping God themselves these other nations believed He existed just as much as their own gods.

Not ALL Christians act badly however!!!! Even some EVANGELICALS I KNOW ARE TOLERANT!!!!

And have you ever heard of Jewish Paganism?!?!

Sorry for the necromancing, but I just thought I'd point out that today marks the one year anniversary of Possum leaving. One more year to go.
