That is fantastic news!!!
:) :)

Here's the translation of the first week that we have
http://www.bszelda.zeldalegends.net/videotran1.shtml

If you can please translate the videos of week 2-4, it would be more than just awesome.
Most important though are the wait signs of those weeks, so I can complete my patch ^_^

You may try
Mehtod 1:
http://www.vid-dl.net/
http://toshichan.selfip.org/
unfortunately, this didn't work for me... :(

Also possible (this works at least "sometimes" for me):
Method 2:
- Download orbit downloader at www.orbitdownloader.com/
- activate menu/tools->enable GetIt button for streaming video
- open the nicovideo video you want, scroll with the mouse over it until you see the "GetIt"- Button
- download smile.flv

This works "sometimes", because the server doesn't response... but I at least managed it once this way (somehow). Dunno why @_@

If everything fails, try
Method 3
Open up that video in IE and let it load completely. Then look inside “C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files” for “smile.flv” (sorting it by name might be helpful).
I've enclosed an image with a german version of windows how to access the temporary internet files if you cannot find it: IE-> extras->options->browser history ->settings. In the new window, choose show files, sort by name and look for the smile.flv's

Are you able to watch the videos at nicovid now? Because only one part is 36 MB or so. That's way too much to send per mail...

Ah, my apologies.

Downloading the videos from Niconicodouga actually requires some FLV downloading tools - I use Orbit for example, - which may be difficult to figure out for some people.

Let me link the direct-download videos here. I've mirroed them on this webspace.

Week 1:
http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/nothing...SZelda1-1-1.flv
http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/nothing...SZelda1-1-2.flv
http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/nothing...SZelda1-1-3.flv

Week 2:
http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/nothing...SZelda1-2-1.flv
http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/nothing...SZelda1-2-2.flv
http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/nothing...SZelda1-2-3.flv

Week 3:
http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/nothing...SZelda1-3-1.flv
http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/nothing...SZelda1-3-2.flv
http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/nothing...SZelda1-3-3.flv

Week 4:
http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/nothing...SZelda1-4-1.flv
http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/nothing...SZelda1-4-2.flv
http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/nothing...SZelda1-4-3.flv

If you feel like it, perhaps you could translate these things in your native language as well. I think attracting some international attention would be great.

Also, Con, Berri's given me a sort of progress report. I'll PM it to you.

Ok, here's the PM from GlitterBerri, forwarded to me by Kiddo :)

I think it is better to discuss this on the project progress thread :)

Wow, progress finally!

Even if we have to summarize for the signs patch, I'll be happy to put the complete translations of voice acting from these videos on the site :)

I'd love to see all the voice acting done myself - sometimes the lines said outside the wait signs are just as important as the ones inside. Also, having a "complete" script would be great for reference material.

(Still considering the "Zelda News Ticker" idea? :P )

Or even more!

I just added a code set to
- activate the wait signs - which are disabled by Roto's code (and does not translate them, so that you have to listen to the voice acting)
- disable the overworld, dungeon and opening theme, but leave the getriforce, finaldungeon, rescuezelda, fanfare theme as they are (just like we see it in the video)
You may download the patches on the files pages -> old patch files, number 1

So, nothing stands the voice acting in the way from the coding site. Difficult may be if you get a bad ending and a time delay due to the continue screen when you die.
I'd rather not disable the die/continue-save-retry screen because of the death counter and the sake of saving whenever you want (must pee or like to continue the 1-hour playing time sometime later). Also, I think that the time delay here is not that big since you normally stay only some seconds to select your desired option at this screen.

Yeah, other than that, this is about to come:
- Mottzilla's real hardware patch for map 2 (he reviews it right now)
- a bug free Link rom (as soon Duke has the time to make the sprite patch)
- translated text boxes in the restoration project as soon I have the translations.

Since TQ/FQ project is closed (no more ideas left) I guess I have no other chance than to retire very soon with those 3 above patches/roms done.

Awesome Con!! :D

About not translating the signs... maybe we could translate the words contained in the original sign (What was that again? "Please listen carefully?")

I think you're right, the continue screen should not be a big deal. Firstly, who ever dies in this game? Secondly, if anything the music will just end a few seconds before the week does. Shouldn't be a big deal. Especially since the music will have to be turned off anyway when going to fight Ganon, before the end of the last week.
Then again, the music heard during the wait sign (assuming we can recreate it seeing as it doesn't seem to be in any albums) could be a little off... but ah well.

That's the way it is:
http://www.bszelda.zeldalegends.net/bs1pics/signspatch.gif
I included the smaller japanese tiles of Frank Pero and corrected the alignment of "Listen closely, wait".

Great that you agree here :)
Yeah, the voice acting/tape music has to be off between 3:45 and 3:57. In this time, you'll here original ingame music when you enter the final cave, rescue Zelda, and, if succeeded, the fanfare is played. Since these events are steered through the actions of the player, there is no way to tape it. If you watch the end video, you'll notice that this is handled exactly this way in original gameplay (except that the music is played until you enter the final cave - but this is not fulfilable with a tape, so tape music has to stop at 3:45).

Hmm... I hope the music in the ncovideo is good enough to cut and fix this music :)

Uhm... you could always use a "dubbing" (or blank) spot for the 3:45 to 3:57 portion of the game. This way, you don't have to stop/start the music... since it'll just be dead air through that entire time. :D
I'm officially retired from beta testing, and resign my duties to those who have the time to do it.

I'm afraid the music can't be taken from the video since the old man is always talking over it. We will need for someone to "re-compose" it.

As for whether we should have no audio from the moment it becomes possible to fight Ganon, I guess that will depend on how we will implement the music (how easy it is to stop it).

Clearly we can't have it go all the way to the time up, seeing as we don't have a second week 4 video in which the player doesn't make it to Ganon in time (unfortunately).

If I can take a jabby guess at what music might've played there, it was likely the Toy Music Zelda medley - much like it was the previous three weeks and like it was playing during the point in which the player entered the cave for the final battle.

If there were any voice acting segments they would not have accounted for much more than a "Time is running up, hurry!"

I don't think there's any voice acting in that missing part and it should be normal, since
Spoiler: click to toggle
. Besides, if you listen carefully, there is no voice acting for a long time before and after the battle with Ganon, since the moment the player will have to face him is unknown.

The way I understand it, in the original broadcast, immediately before fighting Ganon, the broadcast audio is automatically muted, and then restored to normal when returning to the overworld.

If somebody (which I have the oddest feeling that it will probably be me in the end for some reason) does a remastering of the audio part of the game, I think the best solution would be to fill the missing gap with what's most likely going in this section based on the music played before and after, which shouldn't be too difficult from my experience.

Because of that, when playing on an emulator, I don't think we would have much choice than ask for the player to mute the audio track manually before fighting Ganon, and restore the volume afterwards. Maybe we could eventually add an in-game notice when these events should occur to overcome this technical limitation?
