One funky idea - do an actual NES hack of Zelda into BS Zelda

Or even just turn the NES game into a SNES rom than hack into it graphic and music from BS Zelda. That would be so awesome *sigh*

Well Duke my idea would be to take the existing overworld data and so forth present in third and fourth quests and completely replace the original LoZ overworld with it. Basically hack third and fourth quests into the original LoZ completely. Rom size shouldnt matter as I recall reading someone saying the BS LoZ overworld was half the size of the original and smaller. Instead of expanding the existing roms here to allow for more things like the Magic Key location. Instead there would be extra overworld data that could be altered and applied BS tiles to, which to me would seem like half the work cut out from expanding and forcing things in. All it would need is alteration and fresh tiles.

The monsters would be doable as their data would exist in the original LoZ rom. they could be worked around, and given that they are already present be placed anywhere desired without actually having to hack or edit them in as new enemies. That's the problem with third and fourth quests, cause they were made from the BS rom, which subsequently nintendo chose to exclude a few things here and there from. Namely monsters you'd expect in LoZ. They would have to be edited in as new under other circumstances.

And yeah kiddo you are right in a sense. It would have to worked under NES limitations if it were wanted to work on an NES emulator or system via flashcart. However the rom could be programmed to meet the limitations of an SNES, then converted from the NES rom to SNES rom, and we could see how a build of the rom ran on a few SNES emulators. It's all tedious, but imo can possibly be done.

I have seen something that makes naming the giant ghini Carock a problem. A rather big problem at that. I know that Con is interested in adding in Gleeok Carock, and Lamnolas into the rom, which at this point is kinda impossible. However I have noticed something while looking at another website, which shows Carock as a bigger wizrobe Boss in Zelda 2 Adventure of Link. I will post the link at the bottom of the post to this info I found. So Carock technically doesnt exist in LoZ or BS LoZ at all, but instead exists in Zelda 2 Adventure of Link. Which kinda leaves Gleeok, and the Lamnolas to add technically. Ghinis are present in BS LoZ rom and editing them to a bigger size and increasing their strengths shouldnt be too hard to do I would think. Just naming the giant ghini Carock seems to be out of the question at this point since Carock is more of a wizrobe then anything apparantly.

The link for this info is here: http://www.zeldadungeon.net/Zelda02BossGuide.php

I also noticed that Con made mention of the Zelda Mobile project listed on this site under the BS Zelda for PC. This has Carock as a boss in it also.....Well rather the giant ghini. I think it should be mentioned to the project owner of Zelda Mobile that what he has in his game is a mere giant ghini instead of Carock, which should be represented as a stronger wizrobe. I dont know if that project owner coded boss names for characters or w/e he did where the enemies get their names displayed in some fashion if at all displayed, but he should be made aware of the error so that he may correct it. I am not registered at that site and kinda got no interest in registering as playing a Zelda with a keyboard via a mobile emulator isnt my cup of tea. If it's ported to a SNES rom or something then I'd be more inclined to register and play the game.

Anyway again that's all I'm basically posting for is to report the error I found and mentioned. The giant ghini merely can be altered it seems instead of hacking in Carock. Unless plans are still there to get him in in some fashion in the future? I guess only time will tell and we'll see.

Now... speaking for me, I am done after the textbox translation/Link project. Maybe I'll help with the screens of AST.

It is possible to give the bosses another shape. E.g. Vel did it by hacking Aquamentus into a giant snake. I could do that easily as well, but then there will be no more Aquamentus.
It's rather difficult, though not impossible to hack new monsters without deleting old ones. I did similar by including the Link sprites when you play as Zelda. You'll need a new tile sheet, pointers to them (that's the difficult part) and a map how the monster shall react on the screen (here you may copy behaviour of another monster).

But I tell you, the effort is not worth it, for me such a patch would need 3 weeks minimum. And I say, for one's life I did enough for these games.

Yes, Zelda Mobile uses Carrock but this ghost looks like Zelda 2 Carrock :)

Ok. So I was wrong about the Carrock the Zelda Mobile author used. Anyways it seems I found something to quell my urge for a challenge. A project by Euclid which hacks the LoZ Alttp rom completely. Parallel Worlds. Not the easiest thing I've played I'll admit. Especially when SRAM saves apparantly dont work. I made an SRAM save, but it seems the rom would just like to make me start all over again instead of where my SRAM was saved at. Weird, but I will get the hang of it I'm sure and figure out how to make the SRAM saves work properly for me.

The sram was in ALTTP first switched on when you received the first sword. Since you couldn't die before your uncle gave ot to you, this wasn't a problem...
The sram in Parallel Worlds functionates, but as well first when you got the first sword in the guardhouse. Before, you'll have to use savestates.

^^So I've noticed. Parallel Worlds is a pain, and frankly I gave up on it for a bit. Why you got to wander around without a sword for so long is just plain frustrating to say the least. I also found another hack for LoZ. Having similar problem there as well as the game starts you off nowhere near where you get the wooden sword and you got to do some wandering to find it....Yeah I may have bitten off more than I can chew in a sense. Anyway, I also looked at Vels webpage. Seems she has a zelda project that reached demo 2 stages, and apparantly no further from what I see on her site and the section for the project. Seems she was rather fond of her faked pics and actually used some in it which is pretty cool.

Now I'm not sure if she changed to another site to do her things or not, as it seems that's what she did before. Was at one site then moved her projects and such to another site. I'm not sure, but I am quite interested in her project with all the big variants of enemies in the dungeons and so forth, and would definitely like to try out a completed project (if she completed it that is) of such nature. Hopefully the difficulty on her project wont be amped up as much as what I've tried so far lol.

Edit: For those interested in what i meant by Vels project I am looking at http://www.kenoshaonline.com/zelda/first.htm
