Well, technically the Map 2 patch you sent "worked". Just that for some reason it took some effort the Map 1 patch didn't. I don't know much on how to manage ROM formats and the like - it might be easier for me to just give you guys the Super Wild Card formatted ROM bits and we can use them to fiddle around with. (It's two chunks each with half the data, so it can fit on two floppies.) BTW, I used Ucon64 for my conversions, if that makes some difference. I'll gladly be the guinea pig for any future hacks to the RH games (which I assume will start with a new saving system/fix of the old one.) I assume I'll see first either the Map1-specific fixes or a save-game system overhaul. I'd eventually like to see most of the gameplay features (though not necessarily all the ROM-bloating still pictures... yet.) from the BS-X restoration project. Perhaps if it's possible we could even have the player choose his preferred gameplay stylo (BS or Classic) in a menu? As for an "ending", I had an idea of a made-up new ending in my head for the BS-X characters, but... aye, I'm jumping a bit ahead. |

Personally I'd stick to the ending seen in the videos, especially for the BS-X characters. |

Ok then... seems we have to upload a swc format version of map 2 original rom... could you send such a rom where we just have to apply the patch on to either me or Duke? And as soon Mottzilla has reviewed the rom we can upload a patched version that works ![]()
Hell no! This would be too much effort to separate since some different code needs the same address and so on.
I do not know if that is possible since Mottzilla told me that the rom is only expandable to 1.5 MB to work with rh. I guess a pic with mascotts holding up triforces will do the job. But this is Mottzilla's project and thus his decision. Hopefully he soon has some time for a completition. |

http://kiddocabbusses.tryhappy.net/BSZelda/BSZM2MZ.zip Uploaded some of the stuff. All the BSZMZ2 stuff is the pre-patched game (with the exception of the IPS patch itself.), .1 and .2 are split SWC for floppy disk loading. bszeldam2.swc is the unpatched game in swc format. |

Sounds complicated... could you insert a tutorial in this zip how to use which file and so on? |

For using a ROM copier? Most people don't even have ROM copiers - the few that do would likely know just by looking at these, or figure it out like I did. A tutorial is kinda silly in that sense. For most people, the pre-patched SMC file is all they need - uCon64 could even do the conversions for SWC for them. I just supplied the other files by request. SWC is really just SMC with a few differences in the copier header IIRC. It could likely even run in emulators just like SMC does. .1 and .2 are the SWC split in multi-file format to fit them onto a floppy disc. For my Super UFO, I'd load these up by popping in the first disc and running it under "Pro Fighter" mode, which is SWC compatible, and then popping in the second disk when it asks me for ".2". |

cool could you write this into a tutorial and add into the zip file?Just that people know which file is for what. Like: bszeldam2.swc: original map 2 rom in swc format bszmz2.swc: patched rom in swc format... On the other hand, I guess it is not necessary until now to release the patched roms until Motzilla hasn't reviewed it and added an ending. So, I will only upload bszeldam2.swc (original dump, correct?) Do you think it is better to upload the rh rom of map 1 in swc rather than smc as well? |

I'd wait until the appropriate bugfixes/additions/changes are done before bothering with such, but I guess I'll volunteer it all when the time comes. |

Kiddo, the format problems are related to your Copier only. Different copiers support different formatted ROMs. It's up to each user to convert to their needed format. I never had a Super UFO, but it probably likes certain formats more than others. Con, to clarify, expanding the ROM too much will change the memory map which I believe is the problem I have with the restoration patch on real hardware not working. But the real hardware patch doesn't use SRAM so it's not really an issue, but it's still not a good idea to expand the ROM alot when there is little point. ![]() |
