...Data's dead.
I'm officially retired from beta testing, and resign my duties to those who have the time to do it.

I'd settle for a "Con replies to my mail about Zelda Classic" reality (or a "Con actually received my letter about Zelda Classic" reality if he did not in this one... unless it's me who didn't receive the reply).

No worries about the lack of emails to me, either... I've been too busy not checking emails and stuff.

^^Awesome.  All I can really tell is that the main game title has been shrunk and hyrule adventure was removed.  Then there's also the omission of Side A on the left hand side of the cart, and something else written on the right hand side, but it doesnt look like it says hyrule adventure.  Looks more like japanese, but as I said before I cant exactly tell with the image being so small and zooming in so far starts distorting the image.  Also the label is basically silver as opposed to having black borders on the top and bottom of the label.  All this of course is on the cart label itself.

The packaging label I have no clue as to whether or not that will reveal something.  Then the subsequent Yen pricing 35,800.  Weird for a unreleased title to have a price on it.  Hopefully Hiei can make heads or tails of it.

Sorry for necroing, but I thought this should be addressed.
I'd say the Japanese text to the right of "Zelda no Densetsu" (ゼルダの伝説) is "Charumera" (チャルメラ). Really the only things that match are the number of characters and the fact that the first and last characters look pretty good from the fuzzy photo, but it would make sense. I wish I could make out the 2 kanji above the word "Charumera," though...

I'm sure that Pic would love your Pikachu patch, Conn... but I don't even play SNES roms on my computer anymore. I burned out on it and haven't bothered putting the emulators back on my PC.

You bet I would, & this is all very interesting...

I'm wondering about this *UNDISCOVERED* version of Zelda myself...

@Con: I would love to play your patch, as well as at least most of the other BS Zelda patches, but the only patch I managed to download, (the LinCalibur patch), went the way of the :stalfos: when my WINDOWS98SE hardrive *EXPIRED*...

I might need to find someone to help me download the patch...

Sure hope the understand the meaning of "BS"... >_<

EDIT: I have great difficulty *DOWNLOADING*, & so that's why I need help, just to clarify...

Did some more searching...

Previously I had only seen 2 different pictures and descriptions of the "Charumera Version": Image 1 from this page and Image 2 from this page.

Looking deeper this is what I discover:
A post at this forum reveals the Japanese rumors about the game:
kobe

中のソフトはラベルが違うだけという噂みたいです。トライフォースがチャルメラ
になっていたりして。
In other words, there is essentially no difference apart from the decal artwork and the fact that the triforces are replaced by Charumera Noodles.

This site seems to suggest that only 600 copies of the game were made. This could be me poorly translating though. I'm really not too sure about this.

This got me excited for a little while because it purports to be a description of the game complete with video, but if I'm translating it correctly they claim that the video is the normal Zelda 1 game which they upload because it's the same as the Charumera version. I watched the whole video and the only thing I learned was that the guy playing the game powerfully sucks at it.

Now a third image seems to have cropped up here. It's the best yet. It also describes the Myojo Charumera Famicom Carrying Case - apparently another Charumera-Nintendo promotional tie-in. (More details on that can be found here.)

Another tie-in is the Myojo Charumera Family Computer. And there was apparently a Charumera version Game & Watch that the fans are also really curious about and about which n information seems to exist. And there are also some Chocobo figurines and other fun things.

Anyway I apologize if this is old info for any of you. I thought it was interesting.

nice info so far, MadHatter.

The Triforce being replaced with noodle bowls sounds similar to the quick hacks done on that sponsored-version of Gradius, IIRC.

Ah, so that's it. Definitely not as interesting as All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros.

Are there any shots of the Game & Watch?

Not as interesting as All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros, but really, that was pretty much all people were expecting it to be. Game and Watch sounds interesting

Footage from this rare game has been uploaded at last:
Title and intro screens
Gameplay
I don't notice any differences in the game from the original FDS Zelda 1: The Hyrule Adventure so far. I suppose that lends support to the idea that it was just a label change.

There's also a new and even larger image of the disk floating around where the label is extremely legible. The cartridge is clearly titled "ゼルダの伝説 提供 チャルメラ".

EDIT: For comparison's sake, here's the title and intro screens from the original FDS Zelda 1: The Hyrule Adventure.
