I'll confess - I didn't like either of the old Link sprites from either "Lincalibur" or the current "third quest" one. I've decided to try making a go at Link myself - this is actually me modifying the NES sprite based on how I think it'd look in the SFC remake artstyle... I just finished hashing up these two sprites quickly Of course, this doesn't take into account the extra frames of animation the mascots have, and the redhead Link is kinda odd (I wanted to restrict myself to the permitted colos, and I thought the blondie Link looked outright ugly TQ...)... but I hope it works. For the general gist of how I adjusted everything - 1) The vast amount of everything - tunic, arms, head, even feet - have a black outline. 2) To compensate for the fact that the black outline would make the hat appear small, it's been moved downward - as were the hair and eyes. The mouth was removed - both because of it looking silly when this would occur and so that it fit better with the BS sprites 3) The tunic belt's shape has been mangled into a mere red strip. I really couldn't get in anything more without an artstyle clash. 4) The feet were enlarged slightly, while the waist area (just a bit over the feet) was thinned a tad. Might actually need to be done moreso... |

Where'd that Princess go?

You... are aware that we released a new Link patch only days ago, right? The new one is based on the mascottes and the NES Link more so than Links from later games (like the previous patches were). Or is this a response to that? |

Not sure I've seen it yet actually... being trapped in a cage of Real Hardware Testing, one can lose his grasp on the world at large.... nevermind the fact that this is something in the community itself... er... ... aye, lI'll look at it. |

Haha, okay. I really happy with the way it came out, though I wish I could have used more shades of colors (that would unfortunately have messed up other sprites using the same palette). The only part I'm not sure I'm completely happy with is the back of the head (seen when facing north). |

Well, for my own two cents, that one in the new patch looks very good. I'd suggest using that over any of the old Links. |
