I've always thought that the totemic use of "Hitler" as a word of evil is one of the most ignorant things our politically correct popular culture has adopted. It's just as bad in my mind as the ignorance of celebrating the man ala the neonazis. Hitler was a man. We as a society need to get over it - especially the cake-makers of society.

The overly enthused BS-X nerd.
I feel bad for the poor child, having a name that's forced upon him by the parents then used to exploit him.

It was pretty clearly intended as a ridiculous name, but that gets under my skin. Why should people be forbidden from having that name henceforth? It's ridiculous. Similarly, why can't anybody wear a Charlie Chaplin mustache any more? Now it's called a Hitler mustache and you're automatically an anti-Semite for wearing it unless it's Halloween and you have your hair parted on the side. Come on. I mean let's not forget the atrocities of the Holocaust but we go too far.

I see nothing wrong with naming your child Adolf, or maybe Hitler as a middle name, but giving your child both names is just going to cause the kid a lot of trouble. Did you see some of the other names though too? Aryan Nation, Honszlynn Hinler (reference to one of the Nazi's most monstrous leaders, SS head Heinrich Himmler)? There is something wrong with those parents.

Yeah I mean I'm realistic too. Even if I support wearing a "Hitler mustache" or calling a kid "Adolf Hitler" it's not like I'm ever going to do anything like that. I mean when I say I think there should be nothing wrong with naming your kid "Adolf Hitler," this presupposes the person doing the naming isn't referencing the dictator or if he is, he isn't doing so for malicious reasons. I mean if Hitler's great great grand-daughter wanted to name her kid "Adolf Hitler" even if it was in reference to the dictator I think it would be fine provided she did it for the right reasons. Maybe she wants the traditional family name to be lifted up out of the mire by teaching this new little Adolf to be a great humanitarian.

But yeah, in this case I presume the parents were just being wankers.

The article goes on to say that their other children are also blighted with the names of Nazi leaders. These people need professional help. No sane, rational person would deliberately name their children after the leaders of a wicked, tyrannical regime simply because they thought it would make them "special" or "unique"; if anything, it might make them a target for bullying (or at the least some degree of ridicule). Well, they could be Fourth Reich/Neo-Nazi followers, I suppose, but the article doesn't say so.

This reminds me of the less severe case of a New Zealand boy who was named Superman; his parents originally wanted to call him 4Real, but this was refused by the registry due to the use of a number.

EDIT: That's simply AWFUL, naming a child after the FURHER... >_<
I happen to be part-Jewish, so *THAT* I take as an insult...

"Nothing you can say will ever convince me that the Zelda, Link & Impa of OOTURA, ALTTPGBA, SC2, BSLOZ, & OOX are different characters, or that Link isn't part Kokiri, FOR SOME Zelda Universes and that the mangas aren't canon FOR SOME alternate realities."
