Irregardless, one theory I posited is that the Hero in both BS games are the same Hero of Light, and that the illusionary world, depending on how we interpret the fortune teller's character, was either a training thing of sorts before destiny kicked in and stranded her in LTTP-era Hyrule, or the Fortune Teller was trying to get rid of her early, in a sort of "If you die, you die for real" sort of thing.

The player (mascott) is in any case the same. Though it might be possible that the mascotts are named different in those epoches by the Hylians, like in AST only "Hero of Light" and in BS-LoZ just Hero, or Hero brought by the Star. I.e. Link is named "Hero of Time" in OoT only.

But I am curious: How would you canon the BS games? I think AST is very good to canon between ALTTP and LA as a different game... but what is your theory for BS-LOZ and its relation to LOZ and the other Zelda games (including AST)?

Why would the "Guiding Star" (therefore being assumed to be the Satellite) cooperate with a suspicious being like the fortune teller if the FT was evil, while the Satellite supplied you with powerups and hints?

Because regardless of the FT's intent, his/her actions benefit the motives of the Guiding Star and/or destiny.

Well, since the Hyrule in BS-LOZ isn't real, and the hero seems to be the same, the timeline would be the Hero of Light getting sent to an illusion world, probably to come to terms with her destiny or whatever, then after that, she finds herself in the real Hyrule shortly after LTTP for AST, then goes home.

*Objections*

That may be so, but none of that explains why they decided to have the monsters hiding.

Shortly in this context would be six years later.
Just so everybody knows ^_^

I asked at romhacking to translate the final sentences, but the user who is able to translate it wasn't online in the last days. Hopefully we get it and some valueable information come out of this. But I guess it's only like "you are brave, Hero, defeated the evil king, blablabla... and not you rescued a world that only existed in your mind.

Well, I go conform with the illusion theory. It's probably the best explanation and apparently the best way to canon this game without switching to metafictional alternate realities (or even more dumb - say it is only a remake of loz). ^_^
In this case the tent is something like a "limbus" and we have an explanation why these monsters behind the curtain are on earth.

You mean like a maturely test, if the hero is able to deal with reality (AST) then?

Heck, I'm sort of surprised no one has come up with the idea of "The monsters took the place of the real Fortune Teller, and were hiding behind the curtain to hide their machinations, and when you defeated Ganon, the real fortune teller returned."

Though I lean ~heavily~ (so much so that I'm almost falling onto) the idea that the Fortune Teller is testing the mascot, making sure that you are worthy to handle "challenges" that will be encountered later. Testing your worth, your skills, and giving you experience. The idea goes rather well with the illusionary world of BS Zelda (M1-2) if that's what it is.
I'm officially retired from beta testing, and resign my duties to those who have the time to do it.

I am almost certain that with the phrases "Password" and "Wonderful present" in ther, it's not much more than fourth-wall breaking.

The ending text, thanks to Darth Nemesis :)

Quote:

A time of peace has come for Hyrule.
The adventure ends here.
How was it, hero?
Hope you enjoyed it.
Ah, later today, a password will appear on the results screen.
Write it on a postcard and (not sure about this part).
Perhaps you'll receive a wonderful present...
Don't miss the deadline written on the screen, okay?
Well then, this is farewell.

At least no more sentences to add since we have in our good ending more or less the same text:
Spoiler: click to toggle

Interesting here is that a password is calculated out of your progress which you may send to St. Giga and a prize is sent back to you (the fortune teller at the beginning talks about it). You were right, Kiddo ^_^
Other than that, my suspicion about no more canon information is told (i.e. illusion) was correct. :(

Anybody knows how the password was calculated or the exact information that was stored in it?

I'd make a few guesses - some other Satellaview ROMs actually have their password generation on. Check out my playthrough of BS Panel De Pon event 98 to see what I mean...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGepvthXnFM...re=channel_page

I don't think it's unreasonable to assume St. Giga used the same password generation code for each game - if the code happens to be from the BIOs itself, than all the more that'd be the case.

On a different note, the line "A time of peace has come for Hyrule" wouldn't really fit if the player got a bad end - I'd assume if the player failed, that line would be muted. (None of the other lines would need to be though, lol.)

Well Con, you definitely should be thankful that we haven't found anything else to add to the current patches ;)

I think the speech would be different. You know you hear Ganon's "Aaaargh" at the end of the video, I think if you failed you'd hear the laughter which you also hear when he grabs the old man.

Damned. I just watched a video at youtube from a guy who played through fourth quest (very nice to see, actually):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8qTCpS7ATs

He saved after defeating Ganon, and I made a ram check 0000bd-01 to display the ending screens. Of course, this value won't be stored to sram, means when you save there, and reload the game you'll be on the overworld again.
I go, fix this... :(

haha*
No, I just fixed it... though this fix is glitchy in tq/fq because, when you enter the cave you will get a white background (for some reasons, it doesn't fade back to black again). I cannot fix it, but this is in any case better than no ending screens. Other than that I only can recommend to not save in the final cave after you defeated Ganon.

White? When does it turn (and stay) that way? Upon killing Ganon?
