Hey guys, just wondering if anyone here was interested in this LttP Hacking Community. I'm not too familiar with other Zelda-themed hacking communities, but this one was started by some friends of mine, so I'm pretty happy to hang out there. http://hyrulemagic.zoka.cc/ It's kinda just getting off the ground at the moment, but the previews of "Parallel Universes" look pretty good. |

I seem to recall a fair bit of discussion about this version on the French board Kogami came from. Didn't they make a hard-copy version already? |

I'm not quite familiar with any of that... I was just invited into this board, and am trying to spark some activity. |

Oops, my mistake. I was thinking about "Parallel Worlds." Here's a thread in a forum (not the French one) that shows the cartridge I was thinking about. But yeah I've never heard of "Parallel Universes." Is it related to "Parallel Worlds" at all? |

http://hyrulemagic.zoka.cc/thread.php?id=11 Here's the thread on it in the Hyrule Magic forum. It's being made by SePH, who worked on Parallel Worlds, and he considers it a "Spiritual Sucessor". |

Ah cool, I've been seeing screenshots for that Parallel Universes hack over at Romhacking.net and acmlm (sp?) board 2 for awhile now - it's looking really nice. I only played Parallel Worlds briefly though, should probably give it another shot. |

I will revive this topic, becuase I'm hacking ALttP with Hyrule Magic for last few days. I already hacked Link sprite by modyfing palettes to look exactly like Link from AST, created by Con. I would like to use GBA translation, but currently I don't have success with it. It looks like there is a text limit for the whole game dialogue. At least I can easily change "Wizard" to "Priest". No more censorship! Also, I want to create a Blond-Haired Link patch for BS version of ALttP, but I have difficulties with it. For some reason, Hyrule Magic recognizes BS version of the game, but modifying the palettes (just like in normal ALttP) screws the game. Also, accessing dialogues crashes HM, so there is no easy way to translate this game into English. BTW, KiddoCabbusses, how do you did the boy and girl mascot patches for BS Zelda: Kamigami no Triforce? Even after applying one of these patches, Link's palettes are still unaltered. Maybe we could do the Blond-Haired Link patch for this game? Here is a screenshot from original ALttP with new Link. Hat and tunic colors are now the same, original Link had different-colored green hat (and pink hair). |

It does? Imagine that...
Isn't it better if there's different gradations of green between hat and clothes? And for that matter, wouldn't a more orange-ish blond fit better? ![]()

Hello again. I already did the intro and Link's Uncle speech. You can watch it here: http://screwattack.com/videos/A-Link-to-th...-with-GBA-Intro Completion of my hack is still not guaranteed, but at least you can watch the beginning. |

Well, my first version (1.0) is now compteted! The patch is attached to my post. You can also download it here: http://screwattack.com/downloads/view/A-Li...Translation-V10 Requirements: A Link to the Past ROM (US version) - due to legal reasons, it won't be posted here. ROM patching program - Lunar IPS of similar. It hasn't been playtested yet, so don't hesitate to contact me, if you will find bugs. Also, if you want something funny, talk to the ex-thief on the desert of visit the Top Secret Room. List of changes: 1. New translation (based on the GBA version). 2. Link now has blond hair. 3. Lamp in called Lantern, and Flute is called Ocarina. 4. Two pendants has been swapped. Blue pendant in Desert Palace is now Pendant of Wisdom. Red pendant in Mountain Tower is now Pendant of Power. 5. Arrows on sings was replaced by compass directions (N, S, E, W) 6. Due to technical reasons, you will be always called Link, even with different name on the save file. This may change in later versions. Things to do in newer versions: 1. Hack the equipment and ending screens - it still have old translation. 2. Hack the Bunny Link to make him able to open treasure chests and make upgraded tunics for him, if possible (just like in the GBA version). 3. Hack the Pegasus Boots to make possible changing directions while running (just like in BS Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets). 4. Add the 9th warp point in Light World's equivalent to Turtle Rock (with a requirement to unlock, just like in GBA version), if possible. 5. Hack more items to add GBA-exclusive functionality, if possible. |

Why? What's wrong with the arrows?
Oh? I didn't know about this change... I wonder why they bothered.
And did not know about this either... what is this about? The bird is able to get you there as well after you make the warp tile to the Dark World appear? |

I had difficulties with dialogue hacking, becuase Hyrule Magic popped a window "not enough space for monologue", so the text has been altered. Lines with multiple dots has been removed. About arrows, I don't know yet, which words/commands in HM takes more space - S or [Down], for example. Also, i forgot four things. 1. Agahnim is now a priest, just like in the Japanese version. 4. If Agahnim's robe color isn't shared with a different enemy, it could be changed to red, to match his officlal artwork. 3. Link's hat and tunic colors are now the same, just like in Link mascot patch for AST. Below is the comarison between them (ALttP - left, AST - right). 4. In newer version, it could be good to create a submenu for Shovel and Ocarina, similar to the Bottle menu, if possible. In the SNES version, ocarina replaces the shovel, but in the GBA version, you keep both items. |

I tried this for AST firstly, but wasn't able: - more orange-ish isn't inside the palette - another green for the hat would not make the mail change; and a green hat with blue tunic would look awful. But as Tuffy and JB007 pointed out; this is a matter of taste anyway. I also like a blond link more than a orange-ish (Reference: Third/Fourth Quest). Thanks for providing the patch JB! Duke, could you please upload it to the KNT files page and list it next to Kiddo's patches? |
