Duke, in the zip file there's an example rom, just play it. The first 4 chests you encounter on your way in Hyrule Castle contain: hookshot, goldenstar, magic boomerang, force boomerang. So you can test it all out ![]() There was unfortunately a bug with the pot destroy patch. L2-L4 sword did not only destroy pots but also posts (those face things in dungeons which you slam down with the hammer). Please redownload the ALTTP patch (posted in this topic) and the AST ported patch. Also the MQ weeks 1-4 are fixed now (where this patch is pre-applied). Sorry for this. |

Whee, such fun! I was hoping that somebody would port the AST Pegasus Boots code to LttP, and the pot breaking addition is nice as well. Also, like KiddoCabbusses mentioned, I've been thinking that AST layouts in LttP would be the way to go... Don't know if anybody'll ever try it, but the boots patch is one (admittedly small) piece of the puzzle. |

My apologies for the double-post. The Pegasus Boots patch seems to cause a few glitches when going through doors while running. The first one is harmless and even comical/useful. If you run up or down some stairs to another floor (dungeon, cave, etc.) Link's running speed is greatly reduced on the new floor until you stop running or crash into a wall. His sword is still out, so this can be used to get plenty of easily controllable cheap shots on enemies. The second glitch I found was while exiting the mountain cave after getting the Pendant of Power, just above the entrance to Death Mountain. Just as I was running out of the cave and the overworld was loading, I accidentally hit a direction on the control pad and crashed into the doorway in the overworld. This caused link to infinitely loop vertically up the screen. I couldn't do anything to break the loop, but I was able to save and restart the game to get things back to normal. The only other patch I'm using is the pot-breaking one. EDIT: Same thing happened to me while exiting the lumberjack's house. Seems it can easily be replicated by exiting an indoor area while maintaining your dash and mashing left or right as you appear in the doorway. |

Yeah, that's pretty much what it reminded me of too. It's such a cool hack that it's hard not to use it so much, like the "run" button in an RPG. Obviously, AST doesn't have this problem because, although it'll let you run between screens, it cancels your dash when using stairs or going between the overworld and an indoor area. |

Sounds like a theoretically simple enough fix, but also one that makes you wonder if Nintendo ran into these sorts of bugs trying to add this function to the Pegasus Boots in AST...? |

Fixed the overworld/indoors transiton bug as well as the stairs bug (you'll stop). Everyone who already applied this patch, please redownload http://bszelda.zeldalegends.net/stuff/Con/...sus_upgrade.zip and apply the patch. This new code will automatically overwrite the corrupt code with the healthy one and everything is fine. -------------------------------------------------- Also hacked another thing (but you need to add gfx with zcompress to make it look professional). For testing you can try with net and empty bottle. Hack: Roc's feather Authors: Potentialing, Moegami, Puzzledude and Conn Information: The bug-catching net will be turned into an adaptation of the Roc's Feather (Link's Awakening), with which you can glide over pits and through enemies without getting hurt. The distance you glide is more or less the bomb jump so you don't need that stunt anymore. Instead of the net you will catch fairies and bees with the empty bottles (Ocarina of Time). Inside the zip, there are some bins with which you need to replace the native gfx (net in menu and out of chest with feather (8 and 16 bit), net in action with bottle gfx). Rom: ALTTP (US), without header, shovel in 24 items menu hack preapplied. Works also with native ALTTP if you change 2 ram addresses (read enclosed instructions). Code Addresses: 03/FFA0 (after pegasus boot direction hack) 07/7F20 (after L2 sword pot destroy update) ZIP URL: http://bszelda.zeldalegends.net/stuff/Con/feather.zip Screenshots: Feather in use ![]() Catching a fairy with empty bottle

So, does this make Parallel Worlds dramatically easier even without remodel, considering how that hack really abused bomb jump...? |

I guess not yet... the place where my code is placed is already used in PW/PR. Needs to be ported first. If you want to test it with all inserted gfx (feather in menu and so): http://dl.dropbox.com/s/jk20forvn13vjl8/24...L%20Update3.zip You find a subfolder with feather pre-applied rom ![]() Contains also the updated pegboots as well as the morning star and shovel in 24 items-menu. |

Cool, the Pegasus update seems to work well. One thing I noticed was that you need to keep holding the direction that you're running in order to "run" up and down outdoor stairs/ladders, such as those at the Pryamid of Power. If memory serves, the original game will let you run up those, even though you can't move very fast while you're doing it. This makes me think of the only other time in vanilla LttP (that I can think of) where you are forced to run slow like that: when escorting the old man through the Death Mountain caves. I intend to make sure that the patch doesn't stop running there, but I don't have a save file around that point. Overall, though, WAY better than a nigh game-freezing bug! P.S. I think I'm missing something here. Is there another patch somewhere that adds the 24 items menu to LttP that patches like the feather and such are applied to? I looked everywhere, but all I see are patches that depend on it, and of course Parallel Worlds, itself. Guess I showed up late to the party

As for the boots - yes, had to switch it off. So you must walk naturally up the stairs. This is due to your bug:
You can't have both. Here's the all-in hack you requested:
However, we are at feather v18 already. So download http://bszelda.zeldalegends.net/stuff/Con/feather.zip and apply the featherfix.ips from subfolder since v13 is pre-applied. Also, I invented a new hack which is part above all-in hack:

Does it also recharge your health and magic like the blue potion? I would have used a different marker to note when it's been used (like a sword with a bright spark near its tip) but regardless of that, this is great... now I think only the worn out glove is missing and then all the new stuff AST introduced will be in ALttP (well, aside from the new minigames). |

No it doesn't refill life&magic since you cannot drink it. I could have done it drinkable but for... one time? This would have meant much more asm work, so I renounced on it. This is also only a base constructions. The graphics are easily replaceable with snesedit, yy-char or whichever program (the addresses where to find are inside attached instructions). So you only need to change 3 gfx: the golden pot, the yellow content bottle holding up, and the marker in menu to have whichever item you like. Anyone, even without asm knowledge is able to do that (the only compressed graphic is the menu bottle but with zcompress you can replace that easily as well)! Only in case you want another palette than yellow you'd need to change some codes. As for the worn-out glove I see no point coding this. It is only introduced to give one limitation to AST: access the swamps but not the desert. This can also be done with another technique. Coding mini-games is far beyond my skills. |

Ah, so it takes effect the moment you buy it... I see, then it makes sense to have the potion itself appear in the menu as a marker of the ability it gives (otherwise, it would have been weird to see it get moved from the usable items to the equipped ones)
Well it could be useful for hacks like Parallel Worlds... but there are other ways, yes.
Yeah, those would likely be quite complicate. |
