Where'd that Princess go?

Yes! Now Vitreous is gonna get it! (Course this means I have to clear Turtle Rock first, for the Super Bombs to become available, but no biggie, right?) Based on the screenshot, may I assume that on the overworld the Fairy Flippers work by essentially activating a Magic Cape effect (except without draining magic, presumably)? A clever solution... and very much close to how swimming works in both Link's Awakening and the GBA port of ALttP. Do you think you can make it so that with the regular flippers you can also do this but only for a limited time (like three maybe four seconds then you automatically resurface)? So the slingshot replaces the "level 1" bow... you mean the one with regular arrows? (With the Silver Arrows being the level 2 bow?) Is it only a graphical change or does it affect gameplay? A spike protective shield, uh? Does it make you able to touch spikes from all sides or only from the front? Love the addition of the hurricane spin! I kinda wanted to suggest this one myself but thought you were tired of adding stuff. I think it would be better though to keep it separate from the golden potion (so that it can continue to do what it did in AST). Maybe you can make a third Lumberjack appear within their home late into the game (at about the same time the Super Bombs appear in the shop?) and have him teach it to you? I say that since this is how you'd get the skill in the GBA port. ...though I seem to recall a previous conversation in which you said you couldn't add extra enemies or NPCs... so if that's still the case then I guess that's not an option. |

You'd need to get the upgrade at fat fairie's pond... it's maybe a bit too late vitreous. But simply cheat using 7e/f33e-01 as for the dive: I was looking at gba and got the idea from there, so it wasn't my idea actually. The code is unfortunately rather complicated and making 3 seconds dodge too much effort for too little gain.
Exactly- only graphical and L2 is the silver bow.
all sides, but without conveyer belt or charging you hardly can come in contact with other sides... adding extra code would have been pedantic. gba enspired me to do this hurricane spin. You see. Alttp is one MB only and quite crowded. I couldn't have imagined such a complex code in such little space. Though we can expand the rom, some stuff like the place in the menu is limited (as I already told with 1/4 magic meter in AST). let's count... new items: goldstar, forceboomerang, worn-out glove, nimbus, second magic meter, suberbomb, fairy flippers, goldpotion, feather, shovel, sling shot (L1 bow), L4 shield. adjusted items to have more effect: hand combat, lamp, book mudora, titans mitt - block move, sword - pott destroy, icerod - freeze, boots - direction change. I really hacked the rom to its limits. I also thought about upgrading a second time. I cannot make a spin3 out of it, since there is neither an upgrade possibility (chest or fairy do not work here) neither we have much menu space left. Further the faster charge isn't that advantageous and the hurricane drains magic, so it can be combined in one item without making Link "immortal". |

I could do that if there's no other option, but I think if I just get the Cane of Somaria then leave Misery Mire to complete Turtle Rock, the Super Bombs should appear in shop.
I approve of this ![]() BTW, if you want to play the Palace of the Four Sword, you can do so with a simple glitch exploit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-F9DfYaguE
Ah, that's too bad, it would have been a pretty much flawless recreation.
Yeah I agree, I just asked out of curiosity ^^
Oh I know, it's just that I liked how the Gold Potion did exactly the same thing that it did in AST (minus the time limit, of course) ...hey! Maybe you could allow Link to throw the Gold Potion into the fairy pond to get the Hurricane Spin? |

That would work, but you cannot walk indoors with a superbomb following you. But if you get the upgrade at the fairy, return to vitreous and press the L button at him it should work ![]()
Already thought about this but the problem is that the gold potion is no regular item - you can only get regular items out of chest or at the fairy pond. But as said, the charging sword faster isn't really strong and the hurricane spin drains magic. So it is ok to have it combined in one item... |

That's what I mean yes, get six crystals, make the super bomb appear in the shop, use it to reach the fairy, get the upgrade.
Oh... so you can't throw it in the pond? Crap. I couldn't imagine that, it's sitting right next to the flippers and the sword which can be thrown. Then I can think of only two alternative options: either have the hurricane spin granted to the player if they throw the Cane of Byrna in the pond (you know, because it creates a spinning spark that rotates around the player)... or make it so that you get different results by throwing the sword in the sword in each fairy pond (i.e. when you throw it in the fairy pond within the pyramid, you get a more powerful sword, when you throw it in the pond beneath the waterfall of wishing you get the hurricane spin)... which is probably impossible for all I know ![]()
Oh I know, like I said, I only would have preferred to keep them separate since it's more authentic, but in terms of gameplay it does make very little difference. |

That is because I placed it there ![]() I think your idea with the byrna isn't bad at all (sword won't work since you already get the L4 upgrade there). However, though I'd also like to have it separate it is difficult since we do not have menu space left, the fat fairy is usually at the very end (when you won't need a hurricane anymore) also I like the idea more and more to have it coupled to the faster sword charge. But I make a poll at the other forum what people think there. |

I had an idea to achieve this: It is now separated into the turbo charge (spin2) and the hurricane spin (spin3). The small fairy will now upgrade your L1 or L2 sword to the turbo spin (spin2). The witch's goldpotion is spin 3 (turbo and hurricane spin). It isn't necessary to have the turbo spin in advance, she will also upgrade spin 1 directly to spin3 - not possible otherwise. please let me have my vacation. No more suggestions, this or that should be done. I had hacked bszelda 10 years and for almost one year this. I need a break. Thanks! The all-in rom is updated: http://bszelda.zeldalegends.net/stuff/Con/all-in.zip In order to make it I needed to merge the goldpotion with the complete item hack:

Suggestions are called that because you are free to ignore/turn them down. Otherwise they would be imperatives ![]() With that said...
That sounds great! But shouldn't it be the other way around? (Since the gold potion gives you turbo spin in AST) Did you set it this way because you can get the potion at any time but won't be able to get the upgrade from the fairy once you get a level 3 sword? |

I made a small adjustement: you can now throw in L1-L4 sword to receive the turbo spin from the fairy, but this update is mandatory to let the goldpotion (hurricane spin3) appear at the witch. The all-in rom is updated: http://bszelda.zeldalegends.net/stuff/Con/all-in.zip http://bszelda.zeldalegends.net/stuff/Con/complete_items.zip We are playing ALTTP not AST ![]() Well, no the reason is that the goldpotion costs money while the fairy is free. Also in PU the goldpotion also has a deeper meaning so here it must be the second upgrade. This way you can also steer it a bit better to not get the goldpotion too early (need to have Zora Flipper first for first spin2 upgrade and then it costs still much money). If you look at the pic it also is no goldpotion in your inventory anymore but a sword with silver or gold sparkles. You still buy the goldpotion but the gfx can be adjusted in any hack project. |

Ah excellent, that solves the potential perma-loss problem.
Mh... well I still would have preferred the other way around, but I'm not going to insist. (Perhaps you could keep the old file, the one that associated the turbocharge alone with the gold potion, in a backup folder within the zip file?)

ah yes, a further reason why it is the second upgrade. I cannot make a silver potion sold and gold always is higher rated than silver. It's in all cases better to have the witch have the final upgrade, even if this is not like AST (also, why should it?). In AST you also get the 3rd sword in a dungeon and not by the smiths. The worn-out glove is also not in your house (depends on the hack where people store it)... so the witch can have the second upgrade without me feeling bad ![]() *closes chapter with this said. The old file is of course preserved in a subfolder of the hack. |

Say Con, you've been trafficking with ALttP a lot... are you perhaps doing so to get psyched about A Link Between Worlds? (Or is that possibly an unplanned consequence?) The release date is less than a week away now... but it'll probably be a little longer than that before my Collector's Edition gets delivered from the UK. |

mmh, I do not own a 3ds actually. Maybe I'll buy one when the new Zelda is out, but when you code you lose fun on gaming somehow... But I am very interested on the new items and abilities the new Zelda offers
