Can't help but rant about this game. Haha. I love the raising system this game has set up. I was in to those little virtual pet things, and the fact that this game is so closely related to them makes me very, very happy. The graphics/sound effects need some tweaking (honestly, is that Japanese your character shouts after you win a battle?), the battle system is a bit obsolete, and the story is a little slow. But there is a story, at least. I'm actually hoping that Bandai/Toei (whichever is in charge of creating the games) makes a game much like this one with a wider digivolution tree, since several more generations of the virtual pet have since been released (and Gazimon is in one of them). But yeah... that's my two cents worth. What says you? |

Actually, Digimon World is one of the best Digimon game out there. I find this game very enjoyable than most PS2/X-Box games. |

I agree with ya, Graffix. I don't know why, but when I think of a current Gen Digimon World 1..I'm thinking of the kingdom hearts battle system. It would just look great to see a huge mega level digimon towering over your player's perspective. ( Even though you could switch to the digimon's perspective, too. ) |

It was an awesome game. After all the entire Digimon series *was* based off of a virtual pet. It was a long rectangular one with three buttons up the right side. There were only two Rookies back then that I knew of though. Agumon and Betamon. For some reason though my Betamon always turned in to Numemon, but I digress. It was a really good game, however the Digivolution system was kind of awkward back then. I didn't use guides and didn't have internet, so I was shooting in the dark for Champions and Ultimates. As for the victory shout, I always assumed it was the character shouting 'Alright!' or something like that. The sound effects were a little cheesy, but come on. The poop noise was freaking great! 4/5 Digimon World 2 was better in my opinion because they introduced DNA Digivolution. I only played 3 for maybe 20-30 min, so I don't know much. Been downloading the ISOs for all 3 of them though. God bless Emulators.
Edit: Also Sephirot, you only get Numemon if you Neglect your Digimon too much by making Trainer Mistakes (Pooping on the ground, getting sick, scolding too much) and Sukemon is only attainable by pooping on the ground ten times and ammasing enough Virus. An advantage to Numemon though, if you go to Toy Land, he can enter the Monzemon suit to counter out his weaknesses. |

I played out toy town And in total iv'e had about 25 monzeamons and i know about the po system But it's impossible iv'e even used guides to become ultimate but it doe'snt even work to champion lvl so i dich the game i might take it out when i'm really happy and feel like going emo but it plain sucks! Oh and by the way: --------------------- Metal Greymon ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Digivolves From: Greymon, Monochromon, Meramon, Tyrannomon, Drimogemon Care Mistakes: No more than 10 Required Weight: 65g Required Parameters: HP:4000, MP:3000, Offense:500, Defense:500, Speed:300, Brains:300 Bonus Conditions: 30 or more battles, 30 or more techniques Difficulty Of Raising: 7-difficult ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I followed this and i didn't get a metal greymon |

I've thought Digimon World was alright. I'll say this though, the raising system was awesome! It was good how your digimon needed different requirements to digivolve and you didn't know which digimon you would digivolve into! The story was also interesting, considering it was very similar to how the first digidestined got into the digital world. But... Everything else in my eyes was horrid. The battles sucked, the training sucked, and just about the entire rest of the game...sucked. The battle system was horrible, it was like you were watching a fight yourself, you weren't really active in it at all. Not to mention there wasn't even reasons to battle when you could just run. You didn't gain any stats hardly from the battles, it all came from training. The training system was, again, horrible. It's like those DBZ rips on BYOND, you just sit and train on pbags all day. Horrible! They should have just stuck with getting levels off of the battle system, and the stronger digimon you have when it dies, the better the stats you get per level up. That being said... Digimon World 2 is the best digimon game! It had 3 on 3 battles, almost every single attack was different in one way or another. Digi Beetle = TOTAL ORIGINALITY PROPS. The storyline kind of surprised me in the end. Much better than digimon world 1, and you were actually ACTIVE in battles. >:/ |

Actually, battling was required for some Digivolution paths. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I know some of them required so many wins in their life times. But yeah. The battle system did suck. You couldn't choose your attacks if your Digi's Int wasn't high enough and if you wanted it high enough, you would have to sacrifice training in those other stats needed to get the next Level Digi you wanted. Real lame if you ask me. |

Well yeah I know some digimon required battles, but battling wasn't required for the overall game. The only real required battles were boss battles. The game would have been better if the battle system was actually fun also. There's no point feeling like you're just sitting there watching the fight. You could watch TV for that. =p |

Very true. Still, for revolutionizing the Digital Pet games, it deserves at least a 4/5. |

Honestly if I had to give a rating, the most it'd get would be 3/5, my main choice would be 2/5 though. The only real thing the game had going for it was the digimon raising system, where you had to get specific stats to digivolve into different digimon. |
