Bryan Roeley Journeys [Dreamtrail Solo] BRJ-01 Behind the Power By Darrel Vanwinkle (Lord Pouchlaw) 02/21/2018 Chapter 01 "Hello. I am Bryan 'Buck' Roeley, a 17 year old 11th grade Junior at Briarwood High School. I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, where I did volunteer work for the local zoo taking care of a pretty nice Red Kangaroo Boomer. When my father had a job transfer to the West Coast, I didn't really want to go at first; but then he mentioned that by being on the coast, that would be my best chance at seeing Power Rangers. I am an American Caucasian young male with a red and white striped tee shirt, blue jeans and running shoes. I have short brown hair parted on one side and I have blue eyes. Back in Omaha, I was known as everyone's friend. I was a very cheerful guy and had both good grades and enjoyed games and sports, equally. However, I enjoyed animals over humans since they were easier for me to get along with. Had I not moved when dad changed jobs, I would have gotten to participate in the Nebraska State Finals with the rest of my team. I sure hope they won without my presence. I didn't leave on purpose; I had to go where the family was going. When I had arrived as a new Sophomore the year before, I had met a few teenagers whom were a year ahead of me. Unbeknown to me, they would go on to become the Power Rangers Dragon Soul. But this story is about me. I would never know how close I came to being chosen to be a Dragon Soul Ranger, but the Blue Ranger decided not to listen to his groin and he went with someone with more defined skill than I had. That was probably for the best since no one would want me as a Power Ranger anyway. I mean... what do I have to offer to a group of friends whom have known each other longer than the new guy in town had to offer. This did not mean I didn't find good watching locations where I could see some of their ranger battles. And some of the sexier than usual minions of the generals. Don't get me wrong, most of the time, the demons, their generals and their minions were these dog's butt ugly monsters. But one day, I chanced upon a demon that didn't look like the common garden variety demon. Sit back and I will tell you about my little mini-adventure." On one particular afternoon, I had my binoculars with me and I was on a rooftop where I was looking for rare wildlife in the immediate area. I had climbed the fire escape to get up there. While I was minding my own business to look for animals or anything else... an explosion occurred two or more streets over and as I turned, I saw a giant sized monster facing off against the Power Rangers Dragon Soul team or more to the truth... half of a team. Blue, Back and White. I thought it strange that they had no Red Ranger or worse, he or she had been taken prisoner during his or her earliest adventures. Heaven knows, it has happened before multiple times. Or even more horrific, turned evil. Again, it has happened multiple times in the past to several Power Ranger and Super Sentai teams. And for those of you whom do not know what Sentai means, the exact translation is Colored Warriors. So throw the word Super in there and you end up with Empowered Colored Warriors. But usually there is always a leader whom wears Red. Just not with the Dragon Soul. During one powered Slash of the nasty weapon the monster had just hit the Dragon Soul's Mega Zord with, I noted that the Demon Monster had seemingly noticed that instead of running, I was on a distant rooftop watching their battle. Since I was using the binoculars, I could easily see his gaze lock with mine for all of a few seconds, right through the lenses of the binoculars. That was when I realized that I was too close to their battle. I headed for the fire escape to get down off of the building. Once I reached the ground, I took off at a run for my home neighborhood street and I chose to take a short cut through a local park. This would cut off several blocks by simply running through this park to get home. As I burst through some tall bushes, an armored woman wearing a full facial helm grabbed me by one arm and said, "What were you looking for on that building top?" I said, "Rare wildlife. I used to do part time work for a zoo in Omaha and I haven't seen any wild animals since my dad moved me to Briarwood." She then said, "What was so interesting about the ranger battle?" I replied, "I was curious why they didn't have a Red Ranger or if they did, if the guy or gal wasn't already a prisoner of their enemies. I didn't mean to watch their battle at all. I mean... why would Power Rangers want a nobody like me around." "What do you call yourself, human?" "Bryan 'Buck' Roeley. 'Buck' is a pet name I earned for taking care of Kangaroo Boomers, the rare rabbit bucks of the petting zoo and the reindeer bucks in the Cervine quarter. Those animals are probably rebelling without my being there to calm them down. Please let me go. I didn't mean to watch the rangers and demons battle earlier. If I saw something I wasn't suppose to, I promise not to mention it to anyone." The armored female said, "Go on; but a real cutie will be checking on you later. If you treat him good, then you may be allowed to learn a lot more about the Power Rangers and the Demons. Humans call anything they don't understand demons when in truth, they are planar warriors whom were imprisoned on Earth. They only seek to return to the Planes. Go Home, Buck. I can see why animals would like you. You have that caring look in your eye. You have the gift. It is a shame the rangers cannot detect the gift you have." She then released my arm and I took off on my way across the park en route to my house in the suburb on the other side of the park. I have never known of a demon to catch someone and then let them go free after only a few questions. I was now wondering what the catch was. When I got home, my parents were not there but as I entered my bathroom, I suddenly recalled that the armored female had a long almost prehensile tail covered in smooth scales. She kept her face hidden through. She could have been a demon; why do the demons see me as being more useful or more interesting to them than the Power Rangers do? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. She did not make any offer to me; she only asked me what my name was. She seemed more interested than usual when I mentioned my pet name. I then used the toilet and afterward, I removed my clothes for a shower. She mentioned a real cutie would be checking on me later. As long as the cutie isn't too frisky, we might get along great. Be careful what you say about demons. They can look like anything. After my shower, I grabbed my clothes and went into my bedroom where upon I sat down at my computer desk workstation and I did an Internet search for Briarwood demons just to see what it had to say about the local demon situation. Again, the opinions by humans, as the female armored warrior had said, would be heavily biased since humans called anything they didn't understand a demon whether it was a Power Ranger, an actual demon or even a Heavenly angel. However, there was a web site covering Briarwood demons that did not seem to be run by humans. Out of curiosity, I began to look through the pictures. I couldn't read the alien text on the web pages, but that made it more fun. I was only looking at the pictures. But then I came across an adorable faun whom did not look like a demon at all. He was good looking albeit naked; cloven hoofs, miniature horns in his curly blond hair; the whole bit. End of Chapter 01 |

Chapter Two. "After my shower, I grabbed my clothes and went into my bedroom where upon I sat down at my computer desk workstation and I did an Internet search for Briarwood demons just to see what it had to say about the local demon situation. He was good looking albeit naked; cloven hoofs, miniature horns in his curly blond hair; the whole bit." The miniature faun had a fully formed sheath and sac although this was politely covered in what looked like smooth blond fur; at least it looked like fur on the web page. His size seemed to be about the height of a standard backpack. This meant he could easily sit down within the confines of a boy's backpack and not be seen by others outside of it. A handy little trick in my opinion. Either that or the size on the web page was purposely misconstrued to make his features stand out all the more prominently. Aside from his package and sac, he had the tail and legs of a deer from the waist down and he had dark cloven hoofs. His skin or hide color was the rich brown you would see on reindeer or other buck deer. There weren't too many details on his hide to show if it was skin, hide, scales or fur. His child-like face had long blond side burns and he had pointed ears. However, he had what looked like a red miniature tattoo of a reindeer buck's head on his forehead. I was attracted to the faun immediately. There was no way this was a demon. I wanted to find more information or pictures in regards to this guy. Since moving to Briarwood, I didn't have a lot of local friends to just shoot the breeze with. Most the friends I met in high school lived on the other side of Briarwood. The area my parents had moved me into was called the North Woods Subdivision. My friends in school told me that the area had been haunted by scary monsters and demons before the city went in and built the new suburbs within the forested boundaries. Not a lot of people braved to live up in this area of Briarwood. The locals said that the magical portion of the forest was to the South of Briarwood. Well, I've been here for a few months and I haven't seen anything scary or butt ugly as yet. I did see what looked like a scale-covered wolf one time. I had been out at a private location where I had stopped to eat my sack lunch. I had been looking to find the local wildlife. I had just unpacked my Brockwurst on Rye sandwich when the scaled wolf emerged from the thick brush almost point blank near where I was seated. Since I had eaten most of the rest of my lunch already, I offered my meaty sandwich to this weird looking wolf. He sniffed my hand and the sandwich before eating the meat and rye bread slowly. When he was done, he turned to look at me again and he was almost immediately in my lap where he licked my face and managed to get his tongue down my throat. He stayed on top of me for nearly an hour with his tongue in my throat. While he was that close, I swore I could smell fire and brimstone point blank all over my body. If that was a demon, I didn't react to him as if he was one. Distantly there came a male shout, and the scaled wolf pulled out of my mouth and off of my body before he nosed his muzzle down inside my pants and he... the wolf gave me a blow job. He milked me something fierce. Once I unloaded into his muzzle, he pulled his muzzle back once again and he released a happy howl before darting back into the overgrowth. Getting clean after that encounter was not easy. I not only smelled like wolf, but I smelled like I had fallen into someone's furnace; I had brimstone scent all over my clothes and I could taste it and wolf saliva in my mouth for weeks to come. It was really strong on Full Moon nights. In fact, on those nights it felt as if he was inside my clothes yet again. So yes, I have had a few mythological encounters. Nothing like what was supposedly shown in Mythic Force on TV in Nebraska. Once when I was in the North woods, I could have sworn I heard the Dragon Soul Zords launching out of a cavern someplace close by. But when I looked, I found nothing. Well, nothing except that freaky apparition in white which said I was walking on Cursed Ground. When I asked how I could help remove the curse, the apparition flat winked out of existence. As if I had surprised it with that question. It didn't scare me and I continued on with my business. The next day in school, Lexington Lonewolf approached me and briefly mentioned that their homemade hologram was not intended to scare a nice guy like me. But before he walked away, he sniffed the air around me and asked if a dog had pounced me in the woods. I didn't want to reveal that I had been looking for wild animals, so I said that the pounce occurred as I was crossing North Woods Park. That was safer to say. I am glad he cannot discern a lie like a God or my falsehood would have been toast. Anyway, back to mister cute faun... I reached out and touched his picture on the screen and I muttered, "I wish I could meet you and make friends with you. I don't have a lot of friends here in the North Woods Subdivision and I think you would make a really fun friend to have." And without warning from directly behind me in my own bedroom, I heard a reply. "I was just told about you, Buck. I really didn't think you would wish for me to come see you. Well Two wishes actually. Want to make it three? How about wishing for my helping you to find all the special wildlife in the area. I was told you were really interested in seeing unique forms of wildlife. My manners, my name is Actaeon the Faun King; I am a messenger for non-human services. Normally, I am not supposed to make myself known or even seen to humans like yourself but when you made those two wishes and I wa able to hear you through your web cam and microphone, I decided to bend the rules just once and grant you what you really wanted." When I swiveled the office chair around to face what I thought would be a foot tall or shorter faun boy, what stood before me in the nude was a being easily as tall as myself. Now that I could see him in the fur so to speak, I could see that his skin/hide was actually fine scales. He had the reindeer smell though. "Um... I thought you would be smaller like it suggested on the web page. Since you were told about me, then I don't have to tell you my full name again, unless you just want to hear it for yourself." "Indulge me." "Bryan 'Buck' Roeley, fomerly of Omaha, Nebraska. 11th grade high school student. You're so big. My parents will see you later since you are bigger than I thought you would be." Actaeon said, "Silly boy... I can change my size at will; I can even do this for you. So how about it: Wish for my helping you to find all the special local wildlife. You are already willing to bond with me to be my friend." Not realizing that he was being set up to be locked into a contract, Bryan said, "I wish for you to help me to find all the special local wildlife." Actaeon smiled. "Excellent, my boy. You and I are going to have so much fun in Briarwood." End of Chapter Two. |

Chapter Three. "And because I wasn't savvy on demon contracts and why you should never make wishes around a demon, I was now locked into a life contract with Actaeon. I just did not know it and I wouldn't see any bad disabilities from being his friend for a long while. And that lead up to the following week. Actaeon gave me a neacklace that I had to wear for a week; it had a miniature reindeer buck on it as well as a rabbit buck next to the Cervine. The miniature figurine on the necklace had the two wrapped around each other in a compromising way, although it would take a magnifying glass to see that the two were locked together groin to rump in a dual mounting sort of way. Since I was wearing this necklace under my shirt, most of the time, no one knew I even had it on." And true to his word, Actaeon could change his size (and weight) and he was stationed within my backpack in a crouched postion. He said he was learning my schedule so he could define how much actual free time that I had in a week. What I didn't know was that whenever I got close to Lexington, Actaeon would read his mind to see what ranger secrets he was thinking about and then, Actaeon was sending these bits of information back to his 'Planar Warrior' employers mentally. Lexington was not exactly my friend right away in Briarwood; but he thought my pet name was cute. Several girls also thought my pet name was cute; but since I was gay and attracted to animals, the attention in the social circles did little for me. One day as I was walking across the school grounds, I saw Lexington and two of his friends fighting against a few of the so-called demon minions (Filibusters, I think they are called.) This was one of the few times that I wasn't wearing my shirt. I saw a group of these Filibusters approaching Lexington from an angle he had not been looking in and I confronted them. "Leave him alone." They were about to attack me when they saw the necklace around my neck and they ran away as if a demon lord had appeared directly behind me. I looked over my shoulder and only saw Lexington and his friends finishing up their battle by leading the minions away from the school yard. Actaeon would tell me later that this tactic implied they needed to move the fight somewhere where they could morph without normal (or unwanted) people, like me, watching them morph. I was already convinced that no ranger team would ever want a nobody like me on their team, so it only made sense. I would just bask in the knowledge that I prevented Lexington from getting a back attack without his finding out that I had been the one to detour the extra Filibusters away from him. As I was heading home with my backpack; I had my shirt back on, of course... I had another encounter with the armored lady in the full facial mask while crossing the North Woods Park. She grabbed my arm like before and she said, "We will let your interference slide this time, Buck. But unless Lexington chooses you to join his team, then you are to never help him even discreetly. Actaeon! Where are you?" The backpack then rustled for a moment before Actaeon vacated the backpack and appeared in his full form in front of the armored lady. "I am right here, Illusina. Buck did not hit the Filibusters which is why I did not reprimand his actions. He simply confronted them and they saw his necklace before turning and leaving. Besides, Buck and I have plans this weekend." Unspoken, he mentally told Illusina, "The boy sealed the contract with me so he is as good as mine. Making three wishes to a demon is never a wise endeavor. He completely believed your story that the demons are Planar Warriors simply seeking to go home. I have no intention of cashing in the payment he owes me unless the demons get completed defeated by the Dragon Soul team. Then this boy's worth will fully be known. The blue ranger will regret not offering a ranger position to Buck." What Actaeon was choosing not to reveal to anyone was that I had already been claimed even before my encounter with him when Garokk the Dragon Wolf bonded to me just after I fed him the sandwich and I let him kiss me and suck my penis. Garokk the Dragon Wolf once belonged to Koragg the Knight Wolf and when Koragg was reverted to his non-evil identity, Garokk the Dragon Wolf simply left and lurked around until he found someone new whom was not afraid of him. And I ended up being that someone when I fed him. Well, they say when you feed a stray, they will come back for more. I just didn't imagine it would be like this though. My second journey will involve Garokk in case you are wondering. But first, I have to survive my ordeal with Actaeon the Faun King. I have to wonder what all he has planned for me; especially since he is confronting the armored lady in my defense. I guess he really is my friend. Or he wants me to think that. Illusina then released my arm as Actaeon vanished genie mist style back into my backpack. Then she looked at me and said, "Perhaps we are not giving you the opportunities you should have in practice toward proving how well the warrior you could be, Buck." she pulled out a scroll map and handed it to me. "Have Actaeon take you to this location in the Valley beyond the North Woods. Within the ancient shrine there, you will find the power unclaimed that was only won once before by a dark knight now lost to time. But if you were to prove your wild spirit to the guardians of the shrine, you could be the new Wolf Dragon Knight upon your return." I took the scroll map in my hand wondering what this new catch was. Again, this didn't seem like the actions of a demon to give great power away for nothing. Or perhaps the guardians of the shrine would do the job for the demons and I'd lose my ass this time. When we got back to the house, I did my Friday afternoon homework in record time and then Actaeon took the necklace back from me and said, "The week of wearing the necklace is over with now. We have things we need to accomplish and we will start with the shrine of the Wolf Dragon Knight. After that, I will begin to fulfill your third wish; to meet special local wildlife. We are friends are we not?" I replied, "Yes, we are. Thank you for defending me against the armored lady. She is starting to freak me out. I am not sure why she keeps showing up since she told you about me; I mean, are you not enough to guide me? Or is there something else going on that I am unaware of?" Actaeon remarked, "She will not bother you again, Buck. If she does show up, it will be to speak to me. You will have nothing to fear from her. Come on, lets go see a shrine. I will ride in the backpack for now." Not long after that, following the scroll map, we arrived in a scary looking valley with Wolf Dragon statues all facing the entrance to what looked like a forgotten tomb or neglected shrine entrance. As I was looking over the entrance with precision, I recalled what the Armored Lady had said about the dark knight that had taken this test before me. "You know, Actaeon, perhaps to show the guardians that I am sincere about braving the shrine, I should show them that I hide no secrets by removing all of my clothes before entering the shrine. That means I should leave the backpack out here as well. On the better side, you will get to see me naked again. You said you liked it the first time." Actaeon replied, "Very well, but place your clothes into the backpack and I will guard them here so you have something to wear later." And I proceeded toward removing everything that I had been wearing. End of Chapter Three. |

Chapter Four. "Sometimes I have some pretty stupid ideas. The guardians will respect me if I am naked before I go in? Why did I say that? Or was I trying to give Actaeon an erection? He always gives me an erection every time I look at him. I am starting to think that he has me under a sexual spell. The only thing he and I haven't done is to make gay love." So with my clothes off, I walked across the valley toward the old shrine entrance. Did I mention how scary this valley was? Good. It felt like every statue's eyes were burning a hole in my ass as I walked toward the entrance. Despite the entrance looking old, broken and covered in vines, the inside wasn't all that bad. I no longer felt the ever burning feel of being watched once I was inside. The long corridor felt as if it extended through the entire mountain. When I reached the end of the corridor, there was a statue of the Dragon Wolf beast that I had given a sandwich to weeks ago. Gritting my teeth, I stuck my hand inside the statue's open muzzle and where I found what felt like a switch which I flipped before having my arm and hand being pinned into the stone muzzle of the statue. And then the entire statue as well as myself swiveled around in a circle until I found myself within a circular cavernous chamber on the other side of the wall from where the corridor had originated from. Once the revolution had ended, the stone jaw released my arm and hand. I almost fell backward away from the statue. Almost. When I turned around to look at the cavernous chamber, I saw what appeared to be an ancient shrine with a dragon wolf man statue, a dragon rabbit man statue as well as a dragon reindeer man statue. The three were in a style that modern sculptors were not capable of accomplishing any more. As I approached the circle which was positioned between all three of the statues, I noted that on feet sized squares all around each circle was the male phenotype genders of animals. I examined each statue individually without touching them until I found that I had returned to the rabbit and reindeer statues. I reached out with both hands as I touched their stone hands at the same time. I then heard a mental voice in stereo, "Walk the path of the buck warrior and remember what a dragon is called at the end to receive your reward. If you make a mistake, you will find yourself battered and beaten back in the valley you had come from. We detect that you are ensorceled with a demonic contract. Succeed in this test and the demonic contract will be lifted and you will benefit as if the contractor had granted your requests. Do not tell him that you have been freed. Friendships are hard to come by in the mystical world. Succeed in the test to begin your journey. Turn and face the circle. Walk the path of the buck warrior." As I released their stone hands, I turned around to look at the circle again. I noted that there were twice as many 'Alpha' words in the wheel than 'Buck' words. Apparently walking the path of the buck warrior was not the easiest thing to do. It was easier to become a wolf warrior. But harder paths possibly meant better rewards. Stepping on to the first 'Buck' square was not as hard as the challenge sounded. Then I noticed the next circle of 'Alpha' and 'Buck' squares shuffled magically. The 'Buck' square I was standing on was lit up in a white golden light. I looked to the left and right to see where the next closest 'Buck' square was located. I saw one that was closer than the other. But if I had wanted easier, I would have chosen the wolf. So taking a breath, I jumped to the further 'Buck' square in the second circular ring. As I landed, the square also turned a white golden light color. And then the third circular ring shuffled. Jumping back in the reverse direction to the next furtherest away was not as easy as the first jump had been; I had almost missed it. But standing on the third circular ring catching my breath gave me a moment to focus on the tasks ahead. The square beneath my feet changed to a white golden light. If the dark knight had it as easy as I was thinking, then it was no wonder he emerged as an evil warrior. Easy meant taking candy from a baby. The fourth circular ring then shuffled and this time there was only one 'Buck' within sight to jump to in the reverse direction. Having no choice at that point, I jumped to the only 'Buck' square that was available. Upon landing there, the square lit up in a white golden light. Then the fifth circular ring shuffled and this time there were three 'Buck' squares to choose from. I chose not to break my pattern as I jumped to the one furtherest away in the opposite direction. Within the sixth circular ring were alternate generic names for a dragon. Instead of shuffling, it was revolving slowly so I could see each listing. Recalling that the puzzle said to remember what a dragon was called. Not wanting to break my Zig-Zag pattern, I waited until the word 'Draco' was at a position in the other direction and I made the last jump to land on the square which stopped it cold when I landed on it. It then lit up in a white golden light exactly as all of the other squares had done when I stepped on them. The lit squares aligned in a straight line from just between the dragon rabbit man and the dragon reindeer man statues directly up to center where I was standing as I awaited to see what my reward was going to be. "Now what do I do?" Yes, I had voiced that out loud since I had did as the mental instructions had indicated for me to do. And thus far, nothing was happening. Perhaps it took time to give a reward for someone whom chose to walk the harder path. "I am Bryan 'Buck' Roeley. I have succeeded in walking the path of the buck warrior; what do I do now?" I wasn't being impatient but something seemed missing from the puzzle that I had just traversed. That was when I heard the voice of the armored lady within the chamber. "Well done, Buck. Our lords will have this power now that you have opened the way for us. The Dragon Soul will finally fall." As I pivoted my head to look toward her voice, the momentum of my turn caused me to lose my balance as I fell into the central circle and promptly vanished from sight. I would not learn later that when Illusina tried to approach the central circle without completing the test, she was expelled out of the shrine into the valley in a heap of smoldering aches and pains and horrid injuries. Actaeon would assume that she had encountered the Power Rangers. When I regained consciousness, I found myself on a stone platform just outside of a forest camp where the hybrid soldiers within all looked like humanoid dragon/reindeer/rabbit men. And more surprisingly, I had their appearance in exact detail. As I sat there regaining my bearings, I heard the mental testing voices in stereo once again, "Lead these soldiers either to victory or to safety; the choice is yours; the way you choose will determine the kind of reward you will gain. If even one of them die, you fail the challenge. If you die, then no one will ever know what has happened to you. Should you succeed, you will be returned to Earth with your reward." I slowly stood up and walked slowly into the camp of soldiers. One of their number stood up and placed an arm around my waist and began to lead me toward an officers tent. "Did the spirits give you guidance as you had hoped, Commander?" I looked to the handsome dragon buck as I formulated a reply, "The spirits asked me to verify whom our enemies were and to ask what our choices before us were." The soldier helped me into the officers tent where he helped me don the clothes and armor of a high officer of the unit. "We face the Wolf dragon knights whom have cut off our escape route. It is either fight them to get through to the sea shore where we can use boats to avoid the demons whom cut off our other route; Or we attack the demons and hope to push through their impenetrable wall alive to get back to the holy lands." I then smiled as I hugged the lieutenant solider. "I was given the answer for getting all of us to safety without injury. Fighting should only be done when no other route is discernible. Come, it is time to break camp and speak to the chefs." Speaking to the chefs was one thing but to have them create a special type of food was something they had to be taught. They had never made sandwiches before. There was meat that our people could not eat and they had baked bread which was usually never sliced. Teaching the chefs a new skill provided by the spirits was not to be scoffed at. And then we packed up the camp and began to make our way down toward the blockade where the Wolf Dragon Knights guarded the passage to the sea. End of Chapter Four. |

Chapter Five. "Remember that kindness I mentioned earlier on when I fed the wolf beast my sandwich, that kindness was about to pay off within the test. I just didn't know it at the time." As I led the deer/rabbit troops toward the blockade, I could see the opponents readying their weapons. However, their commander was telling them to hold their ground. And he looked so familiar to me. When we reached the blockade gate in the road, the commander stepped out to face me muzzle to muzzle. When our eyes met, I couldn't believe my eyes and nose. I muttered, "Bockwurst on Rye." He then sniffed me in return when I said those words. "Bryan? Is that you?" I nodded one time and then he said, "I never thought I would encounter you again after the demons tricked you into that 'Three Wishes Contract'. How did you end up in this body?" I spent the time to tell him the truth since he knew I could be trusted. Plus, I would feed him. This is something he knew. "...as part two of the test that I was sent on, I have to bring these troops to safety. If even one of them dies, then I lose the challenge. The demons tried to trick me into opening the way to the shrine's power for them. But then the test sent me here. When I heard that those with the blockade were your people, I had my people make sandwiches the same as I gave you when we first met. In exchange for being fed, will you permit me to lead my people to the boats at the sea shore?" "I, Commander Garokk the Wolf Dragon Knight, will accept your payment for passage provided your people permit us to also French kiss them on their muzzles and then afterward, give them a blow job. Discuss this with your people. If they think they might fair better against the demons, then turn your people around and head back up the road. What we ask is little since I know you are good for it, Bryan. I am sorry you got dragged into this shrine testing business. But if you think Actaeon is not a demon, there is an easy way to find out. I assume he has been riding around in your backpack on Earth? That is his favorite trick. Once you get back to Earth, remove anything you care about from your backpack except for him and then go to the South Forest and find the unicorn's pool. Without removing your clothes or backpack, run and jump into the center of the pool. Any demon taint on your body will be fried as it gets removed from you. Sadly, if Actaeon is a demon, the unicorn water will banish him to the Underworld. If I am wrong, then any taint on him will also be removed and he will shower you with adoration for freeing him. A Faun King would not be afraid to take a bath in purified water. You cannot tell him what you have planned. Simply go and do it." I then stepped away from Garokk and spoke with my people in regards to their counter-offer for passage. It was little to ask and they would not harm a single one of them. Simple bartering approved by the spirits. Well, that is the way I explained it to my people. Since I was the commander, they actually listened to me and soon, some otherwise embarrassing personal activity occurred between the two species. I of course had to endure Garokk for a second time since we were the commanders in this mess. We then were given escorted passage to the sea shore where my people's boats were waiting on us. Just before we boarded the boats, Garokk said to me, "I will look for you back on Earth, Bryan. Good luck with your quest. I think you are a winner even if the test fails you, which it shouldn't. Its exact words were that no one could die from the enemy. If they count dying of embarrassment as dying, then the shrine is full of shit. Now get going before I enter my breeding cycle." Once we were on the boats and my people set sail, a new question crossed my mind. "How come dragons and Reindeer cannot fly in this world? I know why rabbits cannot fly. We haven't uttered the single magical word." When the boats got within view of the holy home land of my people, a radiance surrounded my body as the view of the boats faded away and I reappeared standing in darkness facing the shrine statues. "Well done, Bryan Roeley whose nickname is Buck. You chose safety over combat. You bartered with Garokk the Dragon Wolf in his Knight Commander identity. Garokk's suggestion in regards to the Unicorn Pool is a good one. We will gift you the knowledge on how to find the pool. As for your test reward and because you have done everything we have asked of you, this Runner Belt is now yours. From now on, you are Kamen Rider Runner, a special warrior whom will be able to change into the Buck Rabbit Runner, the Buck Reindeer Runner, the Buck Dragon Runner and the Buck Wolf Runner. As Buck Rabbit Runner and Buck Wolf Runner, you will be able to summon a special motorcycle. Buck Reindeer Runner and Buck Dragon Runner will both be able to fly. We would also advise that you sign up for some martial arts lessons. Fisticuffs is all well and good but you could get overwhelmed very easily." And then I received the directions to the Unicorn Pool in the South Forest. The Kamen Rider Runner belt was more of both a belt and a harness; it would go around my waist and over my shoulders in an 'X' pattern. My helmets or rather, my animal heads would be the real thing and I would be able to speak through their muzzles. I already had an idea on where I could go to sign up for martial arts in Briarwood. But first I needed to go and deal with Actaeon the Faun King. I really hoped he was not a demon; I really liked him. "Furthermore, Bryan, Actaeon fooled himself when he had you agree to make wishes. Meeting and making friends is one in the same thing; therefore the two in one sentence only counts as one wish, then he had you wish for meeting special local wildlife. Just don't make any more wishes and you will not be controlled by demons." "Could I be returned to the corridor that leads out into Dragon Wolf Valley? I left my backpack and my clothes there. And thank you for giving me a chance to be something special." In the blink of an eye, I was back in the shrine corridor walking toward the exit. When I emerged into the valley, I located my backpack and within as I unpacked my clothes, I also found the necklace that Actaeon had given me the first week. But he himself was no where to be seen nor found. I even called his name a few times. Now I felt bad that he was gone. He was my friend, dammit! I put on the necklace and let it slide down inside my shirt. "Actaeon... please be okay. I knew the armored lady was bad. She showed up in the shrine and she revealed that she was actually a demon. I don't think you are one. You are still my friend unless all that wish stuff was just a lie. I need to get home. I don't know how long I was inside the shrine..." and that was when I noticed that all of the Dragon Wolf statues around the valley had been destroyed. They were nothing but rubble in the valley. Apparently, an angry demon lady obliterated them when she realized that she blew the whole demon trick. But that shouldn't have made Actaeon go away. So where was he? Choosing to search the entire valley inch by inch, I finally found Actaeon with horrible injuries all over his small body. I gently picked him up and I carried him with me out of the valley. Once we were out of the valley, and since it was still early in the evening, I went home, dumped out the contents of my backpack and then I went straight to the South Forest for my date with the Unicorn Pool. From the moment I entered the South Forest, I got the feeling that I was being watched from nearly every direction. This watching ended when I walked by what looked like a tree in the shape of a dragon. Continuing to follow the trail, I began to pick up speed for the dip in the Unicorn Pool. I just hoped the Unicorn was not in the pool when I jumped in. But if he or she was, then I would apologize for surprising him or her. It would be my luck for the handsome buck or doe to run away from me like the rangers always did. I saw the pool just ahead as I ran to the edge and leaped out into the middle of the pool with a resounding splash! End of Chapter Five. |

Chapter Six. "The Unicorn Pool was a bit deeper than I had expected and it was far colder than I was expecting too. But as I sank beneath the waters my entire body released what looked like boiling steam as the necklace and every molecule of my skin and hair as well as the insides of my backpack felt as if I was being scaled in hot water albeit in a frozen lake of frigid spring water. The necklace simply melted off of my body the miniature Faun King vanished from inside the backpack and reappeared on shore extremely wet but free of the spell the demons had placed upon him. Actaeon whom was healed entirely looked around but he didn't see me anywhere. Figuring I had gone home, he teleported back to my bedroom at home, unaware that I was about to lose consciousness under the frigid water. I barely felt the movement of a nimble set of teeth biting into my jacket collar and pulling me out of the Unicorn Pool before dropping me on the ground on the shore." Clare whom had heard the resounding splash from the nearby Unicorn Pool came to see if the unicorn buck was okay. But she saw me nearly dead on the grassy shore soaked to the bone and looking as if I had performed an old cure to remove unwanted magic. Jumping into a Unicorn Pool would do it. The Unicorn said to Clare, "I was resting nearby when I saw this human run up to the edge of the pool and jump directly into the deepest part of the spring fed pool. You know how cold the waters are around this time of the year. Perhaps the weirdest part was just after he jumped into the water, boiling steam rose off of his body and Actaeon the Faun King whom had been missing for the last few months suddenly appeared on shore looking as if he had been in my pool himself. He looked around one time before teleporting away. When I noted that the boy was not surfacing, I dragged him out of the water. I don't know why, Clare, but this boy reminds me of a buck. I find his aura very attractive." Clare nodded her head and said, "Then perhaps you have found a new friend, Cornelius. Help me get him into Rootcore so he can dry out. I'll then call Lexington and ask him if he knows whom this boy is. We won't say the boy jumped into the pool; we will say that he fell in by accident." While I was drying out next to a heat stone as well as the Unicorn buck known as Cornelius, Clare was off in a private alcove placing a call to Lexington to see if he knew of whom I was. She used the alternate story modified that someone had thrown me into the Unicorn pool while tied up and Cornelius pulled me free and she untied me and now had me within Rootcore to dry out. She said she was using a heat stone and Cornelius was staying close by since he liked me for some reason. After describing my looks to Lexington, he told Clare whom I was and where I lived in Briarwood. The North Side was Fire Heart's domain. Having a subdivision just inside the Southern part of the North Woods was not the best idea the city had come up with. But it was too late now since several families lived there now; including my own. After getting exact directions to my home, Clare ended the call with Lexington. Wrapping me up in a unicorn blanket and helping me up on Cornelius' back, Clare then got aboard side-saddle style and she directed Cornelius on where to go in a route for avoiding mainstream Briarwood. It was late that night when Clare and Cornelius got me to the backyard of my family's home sliding off of Cornelius' back, I was barely awake as I thanked her for helping me to get home. But before I could enter the back door of the house, Cornelius stepped in front of me and planted a deep kiss on my mouth right in front of Clare. She had never heard of the magical animals doing this so easily to a stranger. I muttered, "From one Buck to another, handsome. Thanks for letting me meet a nice buck like you." I then looked to Clare. "Do you want your Unicorn blanket back, ma'am?" Again, I had manners despite only being partially awake. My bedroom had its own sliding glass door and concrete patio leading out into the back yard. Clare then saw Actaeon the Faun King sliding open the glass door and she asked, "Your highness, what are you doing here in this boy's house?" Actaeon replied to the Gate Mistress, "Bryan Roeley rescued me from Demon control and removed the demon taint from my body. Because he saved my life and because we are friends by his own admission, I want to help him to be happy. He is attracted to wildlife over human kind, sadly. Buck has trouble making friends with other humans." Clare was again surprised, yet now it made sense on why Cornelius felt that return attraction toward me. Enough to give me a deep kiss on the mouth. Clare said to me, "You keep the unicorn blanket, Bryan. Cornelius wants you to have it. Will you keep it for him?" I nodded my head. "Come on by any time, Cornelius. My back door will always be open to a nice buck like you." And then I about collapsed. Actaeon helped me to not only get into my bedroom but out of my wet clothes and into the warm comforter and blankets of my bed. The Unicorn Blanket was laid out on top of the blankets of the bed and I passed out immediately thereafter. I would sleep all night. Cornelius made sure Clare got back to Rootcore. The only souvenir I would have of the day before would be the Unicorn blanket. The next morning, my mother knocked on my bedroom door and told me to get up or I would miss school. That was when I learned that the Shrine test and the Unicorn Pool took all weekend long. Actaeon would not be coming to school with me this time since it was perhaps for the better if he stayed home. When I got to school. Lexington approached me and said that he had heard that I had gone swimming on Sunday and he asked me how the water was on a late Autumn afternoon. I replied that it was warm at first, but then I got hit by a blast of the cold water spring opening and I was almost done in. I finished by saying that a nice lady and her horse escorted me home on Sunday night. I didn't know Lexington knew more than he was letting on but again, I didn't want to mention a unicorn in the South Forest just in case that fashion diva Chloe Grange was around to spread the news story all over Briarwood. I had seen her unfortunate sidekick earlier; poor Dylan Smart. What did he ever see in that broad? She treated him like cowardly garbage. I soon saw Lisa Sails approaching Lexington with a look that suggested that she wanted to kill Chloe Grange. That was no surprise since Lisa and Chloe were school rivals. And then Russell Carpenter came walking along eating a chocolate candy bar. When Lisa saw what he was eating, she belted him with her fist, just as the school counselor grabbed Lisa and escorted her off to his office to discuss in school conduct with her. Her behavior was permissible off campus; but when at school, she had to be civil. I then asked Lexington if he knew of a good Martial Arts Dojo in Briarwood where I could go get some lessons at. This question did not surprise Lexington since Clare had mentioned that I had been tied up and thrown into the Unicorn Pool. He naturally mentioned the Dojo of Britton Carson. I was going to go to Britton anyway but I wanted a witness to hear that I was going to go there. Lexington and Russell were high class witnesses. Lisa would have counted had she not been dragged away for an instructor meeting. When I walked into Britton Carson's Dojo to sign up for martial arts lessons, I was treated well. Mom and Dad made sure I had money to pay for my self defense lessons especially after I mentioned getting rolled and carted off into the South Forest by some street ruffians. During my martial arts training, I am not sure how Actaeon and Cornelius prevented my parents from seeing them either in my room or in our back yard. They both were around so often, someone should have seen them by now. But they didn't. I guess the Bucky Luck holds out. Some weeks later while Britton had me in a lesson, Lexington came in by himself. He looked very upset over some sort of issue he had encountered. At this time period, the number of Dragon Soul Rangers had increased to four. Still only the one female. They are starting to remind me of the Road Rovers; a bunch of guys and one gal. Lexington went straight over to Britton whom told me to keep at my latest exercise. You know how some people can just naturally hear better than others? Well I wasn't trying to eavesdrop but Britton and Lexington had not stepped far enough away from where I was fulfilling Sensei Britton's last instructions. I distinctly heard Lexington telling Britton how they needed another ranger on their team. The demons had pulled a new dirty trick out of their sack of evil and now the team needed to expand once again. My heart sank when Lexington asked Britton if he would be their newest ranger. Well, I knew no ranger team wanted me and that just cinched it. Oh well, time to move on. I finished up my exercise and had gone to get a drink of water when out of the blue, I heard Illusina's mental voice. "So you live. I thought you had been destroyed in the shrine. I was following Lexington Lonewolf unseen and when I saw you receiving martial arts lessons, I was surprised. New offer, Buck. Help me to gain access to the Dragon Cave and your parents stay safe. I will return to speak to you tonight in the park." End of Chapter Six. |

Chapter Seven. "Since Britton had been asked to think about joining their team and he was not a ranger yet and he was my Sensei, after my training session ended, I confided in him about Illusina's ultimatum later in the park. A female demon was the one targeting me when I would walk home from school in the North Woods Park. If he could inform his ranger friends to my dilemma and to have him and his friends follow me this evening, they could get the drop on a demon without have to letting the demons get the drop on them later. I never used Lexington's name since I wasn't supposed to know that he was a ranger. Britton asked me to stay in the Dojo for a moment as he returned to his office where he placed the call to Lexington to let him know what I had said in regards to the demon harassment. (Although this ranger encounter would be 'an unrecorded in the usual series' event, the action was sure to be crazy and hot in North Woods Park tonight.)" Britton then returned from his office and he placed a wireless microphone and GPS tracker into my Letterman jacket pocket before he permitted me to leave the Dojo. Britton was still not a ranger so no one could say that I told the rangers anything about my rendezvous in the park tonight. However, my earned Forest friends seemed to have learned about what was going down and they would be around to see to it that I was not harmed. I wasn't sure where the rangers would be as I began my trek through the park but as I reached that usual spot where Illusina often met up with me, she was suddenly in front of me without warning holding on to my arms as Filibusters milled around and surrounded us. "You think you are smart, don't you, Buck?" she said with some annoyance. "A friend of mine is causing trouble in the financial district along with his Filibusters. Since Rangers cannot be in two places at the same time, we will have no interruptions while we talk about your helping me to gain access to the Dragon Cave. Since you can survive what the shrine did to you, getting me into the dragon cave should be no problem for you at all." Even though the rest of Dragon Soul had been called away to handle the other threat, I was to still have ranger assistance in the park tonight. It seemed that Lexington had given Britton the Gold LeoDragon Cell Morpher just in case he had to use it before joining the main team. And perhaps further, there were other rangers around as well, thanks to Clare's quick thinking. Whom says the Gate Mistress cannot pay attention to events outside the South Forest? Off beyond the bushes in the park, my hearing detected a male voice that sounded like my Sensei as he said, "Dragon Soul, Awaken!" and shortly after that "Power of Light!" I also detected from another direction the sounds of two females, "Go Galactic!" as well as "Let's Rocket!" And that's when the Filibusters got attacked by the all new LeoDragon Ranger of Light as well as the Yellow Space Ranger and the Yellow Galaxy Ranger. Clare had called in the ladies to help the new dragon ranger. Illusina then threw me aside which was fine by me as she chose to attack the three rangers whom were not even a team. The ladies had worked together before but Sensei Britton was getting a crash course in being a ranger. Suddenly Cornelius was at my side along with Actaeon, the latter saying, "I think you should help them, Buck. Since no one is watching you, it is time to Run with the Knight and Play in the Shadows." The unicorn buck said, "Britton Carson will be overwhelmed if you do not help him. He cares enough to train you in his Dojo, Buck; use your powers to help him. True this will be your debut as Kamen Rider Runner, but even the Demons will think you are someone else. Your voice will be filtered to protect your identity. We will help if you truly need it as friends should during extreme times." Getting to my feet, I unzipped a secret pocket I had sewn into my Letterman jacket and I reached in and pulled out the Runner Buckle which I then pressed to my waist as I said, "Running with the Knight! Playing in the Shadows!" And then my Kamen Rider Red armored gear appeared all over my body although it had a striking similarity to Leanbow's Knight Wolf form. Instead of Red, Gold and White, mine was Red, Silver and Black. I even had the Mystic Force like knight sword and knight shield. "Wolf Runner! Let's ride!" Just as it looked as if Britton was about to be blasted by a powerful spell, I leaped through the air with my shield and sword at the ready where I landed directly between the ranger and the demons where upon the incoming blast bounced off of my shield and fully struck the Filibusters. "I couldn't let you take a hit like that, Sensei." Illusina whom had been fighting against the ladies moved over to look at what she thought was Leanbow returned from where they had sent the others to. "I don't know how you escaped from our trap, Leanbow; but you will be going right back into it!" I struck my pose as I growled with my realistic looking wolf head as I replied, "I am not Leanbow! I am Kamen Rider Runner! I live in the area and normally I stay out of the ranger's fights but when I saw you assaulting a child, I chose to make myself known! The Wolf Runner has emerged from the Shadows and it is in my element you will fall!" And then I lifted my sword on high as I chanted, "Uthra Norqua Infredo!" And a spell seal appeared under Illusina which transported her to the Underworld without warning or the means to resist the sudden spell. This fortunately only left the Filibusters which I knew the rangers could handle. "Tell no one about me, Sensei. Let this be our secret." and I then leaped into the shadows where a large armored red wolf the size of a horse was seeing running off through the shadows of the park before being lost to sight. As my wolf leaped through the bushes into the space where Actaeon and Cornelius were waiting for me, I powered down rather suddenly and Actaeon caught me in his arms. "Time to get you home, Buck. Cornelius will carry you. Illusina will not be back for a week. You banished her to the Underworld temporarily." I would not learn that the Microphone/GPS Tracker was keyed not to Lexington but to Britton himself. He smiled under his helmet at the idea that I was a Kamen Rider in a predominant Ranger zone. He would re-double his efforts to give me more martial arts training with bokken and wooden shields since the sword and shield seemed to be part of my arsenal when suited up. At the same time, he liked how my ensemble looked. Perhaps he was thinking about Running with the Knight as I was doing. Whom knew? Unlike Lexington, I was not recruiting. I had missed my chance at being a Power Ranger; but Running with the Knight was a lot of fun. Sad to say, I would not be keeping this gift even though I had earned it fairly. My nephew in Wyoming would be given this gift along with a paid invitation to learn martial arts at Britton Carson's Dojo as well as to attend high school in Briarwood where I would be graduating next year. It is a good school and my nephew deserves the chance to make the same kinds of friends I made. Living in Wyoming is almost a bit of an exile for any youngster growing up. I had my parents promise to make my room available to my nephew Brian Buchanan Roeley when he accepted my invitation to attend school. End of Chapter Seven. |

Chapter Eight. "It is now months later. I have gained several belts under Britton Carson's Dojo training. The Dragon Soul Rangers expanded their team by yet another boy the same age as I and Aussie to boot. Illusina doesn't bother mentally speaking to me anymore; she seems more focused on finding the Wolf Runner Kamen Rider whom humiliated her with a spell. This would cement another reason for why I would give away my Rider Buckle to my nephew before leaving Briarwood. On this particular day, I have been invited to a wedding. Even though we barely associated with each other in school, I was surprised when I got the wedding invitation from Lexington Lonewolf. I suspect that Sensei Britton had something to do with making sure I got the invitation since I confided in him recently about how I felt left out of the ranger game before ending up with my Rider Buckle which I had earned from taking a mystic test in the North Forest Valley Shrine. I learned from Britton that the valley was Fire Heart's hunting range. At best, I had been lucky not to encounter him." Demons can be a sneaky lot. I finally figured out why Illusina had not simply killed Actaeon that day in the North Valley. She knew that I had only made two wishes; I was supposed to have wished Actaeon back to full health which would have drained me of my own health and transformed me into a demon as a sacrifice to save someone else. What a bitch! Instead, I had taken Actaeon to the Unicorn Pool in the South Forest where I nearly died anyway while saving Actaeon's life. But I got to make friends with a Unicorn Herd Lord as a trade off. How special is that? Cornelius is one nice herd buck. I told him and Actaeon that I would be gifting my younger nephew with my Rider Buckle so the government didn't get their filthy hands on my rider gear when I went to work for Dr. Cody up North in Oregon. I also asked the two to befriend my nephew in much the same way they were friends to me. Now I was in my best clothes and best shoes as I arrived at the entrance gate for the wedding. I showed the guards (Leanbow and Daggeron) my invitation before being permitted to enter. Apparently they were prepared in case any gay-haters or left over ranger enemies tried to crash the wedding. One of the things Dragon Soul did was to find and free the Mystic Force. I soon met up with Clare whom was standing next to her mother Udonna. I politely kissed Clare's hand as I looked her in the eye as I said, "Many thanks all those months ago when you and your horse escorted me home after my accidental fall into the pool of spring water within the South Forest." I then whispered, "I still have the blanket." Clare also knew my rider secret since she had watched the fight from afar that night. But through Cornelius she also knew that was about to give it up in order to protect the power from the government's greedy claws. I was the unsung uncommon hero of Briarwood. A hero none were permitted to know the true name of. And those that did, kept their mouths shut. Udonna would speak privately with her daughter on what I was talking about since she knew Clare didn't have a horse. I then encountered Britton with a very beautiful woman that I had never seen around the Dojo before. I could tell she was Oriental in heritage and the love and feeling he had for her was on the level of respect and honor. It would take me years to find this sort of balance within myself since I was plagued with my wildlife psychosis. Almost as if I wasn't human myself. And how I had nailed it would become evident later in Power Rangers Corsair Legacy when the Liberty Rangers and the Space Rangers attempted to restore my humanity by force. And I don't mean Mystic Force. Britton smiled at me and said, "Looking good, Bryan. The services will be starting in a few minutes. I hope my intervention to get you here was not an insult to you personally. You will always be a hero in my book. Our little secret, Remember?" I had to ask Britton since I had seen the Mystic Force at the ceremony. "Is everyone here, except me, a Power Ranger, Sensei?" Britton replied, "No, there are a few others..." he mouthed 'Normal Folk' before continuing normally, "...whom were invited simply by being Lonewolf or Sidarius family members." And then I briefly met the only East Coast Lonewolf to show up for the wedding ceremony. Daniel Lonewolf, younger brother to the current head of the FBI, Ray Lonewolf. I would learn more about him later from the Liberty Rangers. And how they would learn to hate their superiors when the Legacy adventure ended. And then the music began to play as I noted that Lexington was already standing at the altar with the minister they had chosen. And then Seth came down the aisle with his entourage. I took one more look around the reception area and I noted a Native American Seminole Shaman holding a camcorder and he had the most adorable miniature eagle perched upon his shoulder. The Shaman was video taping the wedding for some purpose. I never knew Shamans to use technology; it was a bit of a stretch to think that someone whom relied on Magic would be using a camcorder at a wedding. I turned back to see that Lex and Seth were exchanging their vows. And then came that moment when the minister made the announcement that if anyone saw any reason why these two should not be wed to speak now or forever hold their peace. I smiled since I thought with the way these guys were, they would have asked one of their friends to put on a fake show of calling a halt to the wedding. But that did not occur. Still, it would have been funny. When the reception was over, I spoke to Seth while congratulating him although Lexington was still close enough to overhear anything the big lug said. "What would a fun honeymoon be like for you now that you have Lexington right where you want him?" Seth winked with a grin before he replied, "My taking Lexie-girl down under where I can indulge in hunting down other red-headed Aussies for some good old fashioned fun." And that's when Lexington gave Seth a powerful nudge in his ribs to indicate that he was standing right there. I replied, "Glad I am not a red-headed Aussie then. I was offered a job after I graduate at a testing facility in Oregon where I get to help test a FTL warp drive engine for NASA." As usual, my job related news fell on deaf ears. I got some cake and a cup of juice before finding a seat by myself or so I thought. Shortly after I had been sitting there for a few moments, Nick Russell sat down beside me and said, "When you finish your job in Oregon, Clare and Udonna would love for you to come back and train at Rootcore with the rest of us. Clare spoke highly of your skills in fighting and magic use. Banishing a demon on your first outing is a class act, Bryan." I looked at Nick and said, "What are you talking about, sir? I'm just one of Sensei Britton's students." Nick brought out his Mystic Morpher and said, "As a Ranger myself, it is always good to know your allies. Maybe someday you can be a red ranger like I got to experience. But being a Kamen Rider is just as special as being a Ranger. And when suited up, you have Leanbow's armored appearance. Just think about our offer; If anything, Actaeon and Cornelius will be glad to see you; bonding to a Unicorn Buck Lord is feat all by itself. Saving the life of the Faun King is also a feat of greatness. You are no loser, Bryan. Just believe in the Magical Source and you might be a Mystical Force Knight yourself someday. I had to learn this the hard way." Although my destiny would drag me through many intergalactic cesspools and otter romp sessions, perhaps someday I would get to return to Briarwood to get a second chance. "Look, I invited my nephew to come attend classes in Briarwood. I am giving him my rider gear so the government cannot find it in my belongings when I am working for them. I cannot put my finger on it. But I just cannot trust them for some reason. They contacted me in regards to this job; I didn't have to apply for it. I think they have been spying on me or the demons gave them my name when the demons were loose in Briarwood until recently. I know I humiliated Illusina with my first appearance." Nick grinned as he got up to leave. "Clare told us about that. Until later, Buck." I watched Nick depart and somehow I knew he was right; I sort of belonged in Briarwood. Perhaps Nick wanted to Run with the Knight like Britton did. End of Chapter Eight. End of Episode One. Stay tuned for the next episode, Running With the Knight. |
