So... lately I've noticed that the forums haven't been as active as before (OMG BIG SURPRISE!! :O)
But members still come, and there's no reason why we can't grow into a semi-large, wonderful and active community.
In terms of new things, well, we haven't had anything really "new" since Moonlite Chronicles, and I think it would be cool if we brought in something to SPICE THINGS UP A LITTLE! >DDD
We could make this into a community that is more than just coming along and posting topics on random whim. For example, we can create monthly contests along with the typical spriting contests. How about a caption contest? Or short fic contest? Or something other than contests.
But of course, any sort of thing involving the community means we need to have enough people to pass off as "active" enough to roll everything along.
That's why I believe

Main site problem

EDIT #2: Another problem with domain. Working on it.
EDIT: It's been fixed. :3
I don't know who's noticed, but the main site, Eonlight Valley (www.eonlightvalley.com), has a 404 error when you type in the domain.
I checked it in my CP and all the files are intact, but the directory says "eonlightvalley.com_DISABLED_BY_DREAMHOST_FOR_EXPLOIT". I have no idea what exactly that means. It's possible someone might have tried to hack into it or something... And Dreamhost disabled it to stop the security exploit. I'm not sure. :/
Either way, it seems to be only the Eonlight Valley domain, as Starry*Gate, which I have under EV's directory, is still working fine.
I have emailed Eevee-chan; hopefully it'll be solved soon. D:

Colorful World theme

All righties... The new skin is now up. You can select it from the Theme selector at the very bottom of the screen, although I've set it as default already. It's called Colorful World. :3 It's mostly earth tones. Because we all love our planet, right? xD Sorry I didn't use the color schemes some of you suggested -- I played around with them but didn't really get anything good. .__.; I assure you though, the next skin will probably be darker. ^.^
Speaking of which, I hope Colorful World isn't too light. If it is, just tell me the places that bother you most, and I may "recolor" them. ;P And if there's anything else that looks off, just tell me. I haven't fully "debugged" it. Personally I think it's pretty nice in general... took me forever to make the banner look good, and I'm still not sure. =_=
I've previewed the skin on Mozilla Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 7. There are some minor differences where the CSS decided to play "See the Difference in the Two Pictures". I personally am biased to Firefox, so I think it looks better on there. But you IE7 users... hopefully none of you have any problems with it. :3
Uh... what else... oh yes. The skin isn't completely done. As you've probably noticed, a lot of the smaller button/icon graphics are still from the default ZB. I will make custom ones to fit the new skin. Soon. Hopefully. I didn't want you guys to live with the ugly original skin for too long. XD;; In the meantime, I don't find them too bothersome, but sorry if you do. D:
Hm, besides that. Since we're now transferred and everything, I thought it might be good to do a little cleanup, maybe? There are tons of people who signed up and never really posted everything, so a member purge may be useful. But it's up to you guys, really.
Btw, rules have also been modified ;D
EDIT:
Also guys, the title of Honorary Member is now available for those who reach 1000 posts. ;D I might decide to lower this value, but for now... heh heh. xD
EDIT 2:
There's a forum games section now.

Zetaboards transfer complete
Posted by Zephyr (Administrator) at Oct 14 2008, 10:16 PM. 17 comments
...As if you didn't notice. =P Welcome to the new, shiny Zetaboards edition of EVF! Zeta has some minor differences from Invisionfree that you'll need to keep in mind:
The PM system. In a much neater way than the InvisionFree fashion, Zeta PMs stack and therefore will not fill your inbox as readily. However, a notification popup will not appear anymore unless you set it to do so.
New emotes. I personally think they're much more stylish than the old ones.
Different poll creatorthing. Gone is the "New Poll" button-- now there's an elusive "add poll" feature just underneath the emoticon box in a "new topic" window.
Post preview button. Instead of loading a new page like Invisionfree did (which tended to butcher slow connections) this button is quick and simple and lets you easly cjekc for tyops.
Subforums are listed. See how in the "battles" section, there's a link to Xerolabs... and then underneath that, another link to Xerolabs? Doesn't matter anyway, since they're both dead, but...
Topic Tags. Like in Vbulletin, topics can now be tagged with subject-related words. That doesn't mean you have to go around tagging each and every topic with "Pokemon," though-- tags should be topic-specific, like "platinum" or "money problems" or "legendary" or something.
Collapsible Categories. Tired of seeing that empty Moonlite Chronicles forum? No worries! Just click that little minus symbol on the category header and it will wink out of existence until you click the plus sign again.
Increase the size of the post box. Actually you could do that in Invisionfree, but it was combersome and involved dragging the corner of the box. Zeta has these cool, almost-invisible plus and minus signs that you can click to expand or contract the message box, for visual purposes.
...And then one of the more pressing difficulties, this skin. :/ Hopefully Krona will drop by and take pity on us poor souls, deprived of the beautiful Leafeon skin and having to suffer the hideous Zeta default. If anyone has any skins that they would be willing to contribute (made completely by you) then we could add it and be forever grateful. :3 Just saying. Even a banner would help.
Post any issues that you encounter with the new forums (besides the skin) and we'll do our best to help you. Other than that, enjoy! =D

ZetaBoards? :O

Sorry for being so inactive guys... I kind of lost interest. X3;
So... for those who don't know, Invisionfree's new Zetaboards is out and available for conversion. http://s1.zetaboards.com/zb/index
The new boards have new features such as blogging, a shoutbox, and custom profiles... along with other edited/enhanced/etc. stuff.
Things have been rather quiet here lately, so maybe we should make a change with a bang. Converting is very simple, although I might have to remake/edit the skin or create a new one.
I'm interested in trying out ZetaBoards, but the choice is up to you guys. Change or no change~? Reply, please! ^^

Moonlite Chronicles updates
Posted by Zephyr (Administrator) at Feb 6 2008, 12:27 AM. 2 comments
A minor new update, generally because I don't like having the "Change Forums?" topic as our most recent news. xD Anyway, as you can see, I have done some work on Moonlite Chronicles. Go to the Request Ref thread, peoples! For now, this is the only way to get your journey updated, you hear me?
Also, MC staff might notice that I added a staff discussion board to the Moonlite Chronicles forum. Yeah, that. Actually, I think managing the entire roleplay is a little much for just me and Shadow (and Kronakitty too, but, well...), so this is an official request: if you think you are skilled at roleplaying and have the necessary devotion to become staff for MC, please PM me. :3 We really do nead updaters.
And if you're whining about the speed of the forums, I would like to point the big accusing finger and say that IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT. But I won't, because I'm a nice admin. C: Don't be afraid! Post! And even if you're confused about how to reply to a topic, reply anyway! Ask a question, get an answer! That's how it goes! Also, I will permit bumping of topics(for now) as long as you have something important or interesting to say. But still, eh... no bumping topics over six months old, or topics that contain outdated information. At that point, it is annoying and pointless and you are at liberty to remake the topic if you see fit. However, there is still no bumping allowed in the General Discussion and Advertising boards.
Thank you for your time, EVF members. Zephyr over and out.

Change forums...?

EDIT: Nevermind, disregard all this. XD I'm deciding we shouldn't switch forums, since there really isn't a good enough reason to do so.
Before you start freaking out, let me just say that it's not a definite yes that the forums are going to change.
This all originated from the whole validation problem with the spambots and their ceaseless registering (which unfortunately still hasn't stopped. >_> It was during a conversation with Ev-chan, my sister site <3, that she suggested I try out phpbb 3.0.
I installed it and made a skin (it didn't take long o.o;) and I'm wondering whether or not we should move there. Does anyone want to move to a phpbb3 board hosted on the EV server...? It'll have some new features (some just different) and we'll likely get away from the spambots. The downside is that phpbb3 is still a release candidate and not completely stable at the moment, although it's working well and the final version should come out soon.
Now, I don't care much either way, but tis up to you guys. :3 If no one wants to move, then I'll incoporate the new skin to this forum.
The URL of the phpbb forum is here: http://www.eonlightvalley.com/forum
So yeah, the URL really isn't that different. XDDD Feel free to register and try it out if you want~ I don't mind.
....*sigh* This all brings back memories of our dear old SMF forum that got beaten up by hackors... ;___; Well, let's hear what you say!

Spam Bots
Posted by Zephyr (Administrator) at Mar 26 2007, 08:08 PM. 15 comments
As you may have noticed, there has been a recent outbreak of spam bots on the general chat board. They're automatic programs that register to post advertisements and try to get you to buy things. Do not reply to their topics, and most certainly do not click their links. The topics will be deleted in due time, and I am trying to clean them out of the forum as best I can.
Any suggestions to deter them, including spambot-stopping registration codes (ie, type what you see in this image to register), would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, you'll just have to hang tight. Spring is noob season, and hopefully they'll go away in due time.

New Forum Domain!
Posted by Kronakitty (Administrator) at Feb 20 2007, 09:46 PM. 0 comments
Eonlight Valley Forums now has a new, working domain name:
http://forums.eonlightvalley.com
There is no need to change any bookmarks.
http://z9.invisionfree.com/evforums still works.
However, the new domain is obviously easier to remember, so feel free to use it if you ever forget the old one. =3
---
Oh yes, the RPG has released - in case you missed that news. XD
