They've made them so much the same wich do you think is better? I think Dragonite gets more fame but Salamance is more dragon like & For some reason seems stronger. But in the End I like Dragonite. |

This was... Difficult. I like Salamence better, actually, but I voted for Dragonite because I like it's pre-evolutions. Also, I just don't like Shelgon and Bagon. |

Dragonite. Dragonair is one of my favorite pokemon. Pokemon I like in their evolution chains: Dragonair Pokemon I don't like in their evolution chains: Dratini Dragonite Bagon Shellgon Salamence The only dragon pokemon I like are Altaria and Dragonair. I don't like the rest. Dragonair is in Dragonite's evolution chain, and I don't like any from Salamence's evolution chain, so guess what? I picked Dragonite! |

Hm, to be honest I don't really like either of them. When it comes to dragon Pokemon, my favourite would have to be Flygon. But if I'm forced to decide, I'd choose Dragonite. It's a cool Pokemon. (I've been reading the manga lately, and it looks awesome in action. ^^) |

I voted Salamence on accident *tired*, but I really like D-nite better, why? Well, I have quite a few things against Salamence, such as its overusedness (not a word) and the fact that one pkmn can have such decent stats...(and that it evolved at 50 and not 55). Besides, originals are always better, right? |

Sometimes they are. Anyway, I voted for Salamence because Dragonite's face just doesn't look fierce at all to me (I mean, look at it!) . Don't you agree that the Dragon Pokemon's face should actually look dragon-like? |

I vote for Salamence. In the Games Department, this dragon Pokémon is very cool with a high base Attack of 135 (higher than Dragonite's 134 base Attack). Salamence also has a decent base Speed of 100, enough to outspeed many of the Pokémon listed in the OU category (compare with D-Nite's 80 base Speed). Salamence's base Sp. Attack is 110, compared to Dragonite's 100 base Sp. Attack. If paired with a Rapid Spinner, Salamence is a force to be reckoned with. With the addition of Draco Meteor, Salamence is one of the biggest threats on the OU metagame. Dragonite probably has easier access to some moves like Dragon Rush, Surf or Waterfall, or even Thunder. Bad news is that Dragon Rush is an unreliable move at best (75% accuracy), Salamence can inherit cooler moves like Hydro Pump and has access to more useful moves like Crunch to counter walls like Cresselia, Uxie and Dusknoir. Also when it comes to usefulness, with Dragonite's offensive stats obviously overshadowed by Salamence's far more better base Sp. Attack, Speed and Attack, every competitive battler would fancy Salamence more than Dragonite. In other departments, Salamence is not really cute, but this dragon Pokémon is my favorite. Salamence looks more fierce than Dragonite (backed-up with his ability Intimidate). Evolving into Salamence is probably one of the greatest moments the Bagon Evolution line can experience. Becoming a Salamence fulfills Bagon's greatest wish: to fly high in the sky. (which somehow resembles my own dream). Salamence is easier to get than Dragonite because Dragonair evolves on Lv. 55 while Shelgon evolves on Lv. 50. Yup. I vote for Salamence. Edited by Bellomence, Dec 31 2008, 11:22 AM.

I voted for Dragonite. Ok, he may not be as fierce as Salamence, but Salamence is easier to get, while Dragonite you have to fight harder. Dragonite has cooler moves than Salamence. He can learn Outrage, without a TM, Hyper Beam, and without an egg move, Dragon Rush. Dragonite can learn Surf and Waterfall, two strong Water-type attacks. It can learn more TMs than Salamence, like Thunder, Blizzard and Focus Blast. And Dragonite has HP and SD higher than Salamence, which makes it a more resistant Pokémon. |
