Do you believe that it was right for America to go into Iraq? I don't believe that it was right at all. Why would you want to force a government to become a democracy? |

No one is something; they simply are.

I think that going to war was a bit drastic. A democracy can only be better for them, though. However, I hate the fact that we invaded their country, usurped their leader, and started a war. It's killed so many people, and there was probably a better way to do this. |

We should have done lots of research before going to war with Iraq and causing lots of trouble. We could have found a better way to do it. |

To be honest, the reason why we didn't do much research is because of Bush. -_- |

I think you all forget that the president is no dictator or absolutist, he cannot just go to war without Congress approval, it was the government's decision, and since the voters elect Congress, it is America's decision. Sad that many Americans forget how the political system works... Really, if the US does not play cop, then things could go out of hand. This has existed since the Cold War era, so this is not the first nor last American governmental influence... |

Whadda you mean? *XD* It was Congress that thought of the idea. It was Bush himself. "Following the overthrow of the Taliban, President Bush also promoted urgent action in Iraq, stating that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction (WMD), and that in the post 9/11 world it was too dangerous to allow unstable regimes to possess weapons that could "potentially fall into the hands of terrorists." What do I mean? I do not have the time to give you an essay right now, but the president still has to go through Congress, he cannot go and do whatever he wants. If it was a bad idea, it would not have left Congress. |

Oh, so you think that Congress is ACTUALLY a smart and wise system? Of course it was a bad idea. And Congress was stupid enough to agree with Bush. |

AM, we don't want any lecture about how the government works. Now we have a democratic House and Senate, but when we went to war, we had had a Republican house and Senate. So not everybody wanted to go to war. You haven't told us your views on it yet, AM, and I'd like you to. We're not debating on how our government works, I've learned enough about that this year. *looks over at large stacks full of History homework* I'm not totally sure, but weren't the Republicans wanting to go to war and the democrats not? And Bush would have never became president if there wasn't that accident in Florida! You know now that I disagree with the Iraq War in almost every way. Of course who am I? I'm 11 and I'm debating about national issues! |
