'Pika' means 'Mouse' in Japanese. 'Chu' means 'Volt'. So Pikachus name is really 'Mouse Volt'. And pikachus description is 'Mouse pokemon'. That proves my theory. |

This is true, but there is a fault in your theory. 'Chu' is actually a Japanese sound effect for the sound a mouse makes. But to add on to that, a 'Pika' is a real specie of mouse. Coincidence, ne? |

*Gets technical* "Pika" Is in reality akin to "Glitter" or "Sparkle" in japanese. Sort of the sound and picture of little sparks or static electricity. The Pika is pronounced completely differently (Pie - kah) and is in fact just coincidentally named as such. It has no relation to Pikachu in any way. "Chu" is the japanese word for squeak. Ever seen the movie Spirited Away? The mouse says "chu" instead of "squeak." Point made. Pikachu = Glittersqueak. |
