GSC Remake

After there was a remake of Red and Blue, lots of fans have been waiting for one of Gold, Silver and Crystal. And with all the hints Nintendo dropped in Diamond and Pearl, I'm pretty sure they will.

If you're wondering about what hints they dropped, I've noticed a few people mentioning Johto or someone in Johto or something about Johto or whatever.

1. The guy who gives you the Happiny egg mentions Johto. I can't remember exactly what he said, though.
2. The fifth (I think) gym leader of GSC is in the game and gives you Waterfall. I can't remember her name, but she was there.

There were definitely some others, but I can't remember them. I can't really remember things today.

I have a few reasons on why they've taken such a long time to make it. One, they have to boost the graphics up to DP level, instead of just RSE level like Firered and Leafgreen. Two, they have two regions to revamp, unless they decide to not include Kanto (which they better not do). Three, they probably have to include WiFi so that it won't seem any worse than DP.

That's my theory, of course. Then might not be true. They might just not make it. Or they might make the remake and somehow make Pokemon Pinball a major part of the game. Who knows.

A remake would be wonderful. I've always thought of the second generation being the best. And Jasmine is the sixth gym leader of Johto.

Love that idea. :D But to be perfectly honest, when it comes to a remake, I'd have to say no. It wasn't much different than any of the other Pokemon games, really. Just Team Rocket (again), a startlingly underpowered E4, easy, automatic shinies (think how common shiny Gyarados would become!) and a lot of things that just plain wouldn't work.

If you ask me, I'd rather have a nice new region to explore, without any new Pokemon. Or an old region, with an advanced plot. But no GSC remake. Sorry.

I want a G/S/C Remake so badly! Most if not all of my favorite Pokemon come from Johto! Sure they could add some more things, but I really want Nintendo to make them.
I'l just pretend there's something funny in here, and you can pretend you laughed.

Vacillating Dreamer, most people have no idea what that means.
Yes, yes, yes! I REALLY want a remake. My first game was Silver and I've played both it and Gold a million times. It would make me extremely happy if they did! I would love to revisit Johto with new D/P graphics! It would be so awesome, because I could remake my Gold team in the new GS DS games and trade them over to D/P or I could trade my D/P Pokemon over to the remakes.

But I don't think they will. You can already get most of the Pokemon from D/P and R/S/E/FR/LG. There's really no practical reason for them to make it. Hopefully though, they'll hear out pleas of Pokemon fans and make these remakes that many people like myself desire. I would much rather have a G/S/C remake than a new generation.

Here's how you pronounce my name, if you cared at all: Nax-ell-GEE, which is NOT like the "gee" in "geez", but instead it rhymes with "key". The rest you should know.

Pokemon lose health if you hit your Pokemon into them, and if you drop either yours or your opponent's Pokemon, you lose one life. Losing all your lives makes all your Pokemon faint. If all your Pokemon faint without you losing a life, you don't lose a life, but you still lose the battle. Be careful of Swinub, because it can freeze your Pokemon if you're not careful. But it's worth it if you catch it so that you can use it against your opponents.

I agree that GSC wasn't very original. Kanto wasn't interesting, there would be a problem with shiny Gyarados, the elite four was ridiculously easy, pretty much everything you said. However, I want a remake most of all because of both the Pokemon and the region itself. I mostly played the game just to explode all the different areas, especially the caves. I liked DP, but I think it would have been more interesting if there had been something other than just cool items in every cave, like a rare Pokemon deep within Mount Coronet. Or something like that.

So if they just made a game with the Johto region, as long as they kept the routes the same and the hidden things in the caves, I would be happy (even if they really did make Pokemon Pinball a major part of the game).

Honestly I'd love a remake. Crystal was my favorite version. THey could extend the the levels of the johto though add create a new basic pokedex to start with. I really miss visiting two regions...

If they remade Gold and Silver Version, it would either be a giant catastrophe or become one of the highest grossing games on the Nintendo DS market. There's a high risk of them messing up and ruining the nostalgia of the old games but there's also a chance of them making an even better version. Only time will tell for now, though...

Well, I have to contribute.

Though this post was plenty long ago, I've been thinking about this happening for the longest time. At first when I saw Jasmine in D/P, I thought we'd have a region traveling thing like in G/S/C, which is a BIG idea that I wish they didn't leave out, because it was wicked fun.

The idea has been in my mind ever since Fire Red and Leaf Green, though I was also expecting a Lightning Yellow or something along those lines to remake Yellow, which would have been really fun and I wouldn't mind playing half of these remakes.

Sadly, after Platinum, I think they're just going to make different games with no new Pokemon. I saw this animation that proved a big point:

"Okay, so we have all the elements, speed, love, wisdom, etc. What do we go for on our next journey?"
"There's only one thing left... We go... FOR GOD."
"We already did that too."

Then everyone at Nintendo's just like: O.o

(yay this topic's back)

I read somewhere or other about an interview someone conducted with... I don't know, but it was someone who would know if there would be more generations? Yeah, I know, I sound so sure of myself, but that's not the point.

So this... person said that there would definitely be more generations. That could be taken as good news. However, I think he's lying.

Why? Well, basically because of what Will said, partly for more reasons that mostly revolve around the plot of the anime (yes, I actually think it has a plot, more on this later). Anymore generations would sort of be... redundant, I guess. They could make a few more Pokémon here and there, get it to a nice round five hundred (acutally... five Rotom forms, Shaymin sky form, Giratina I forget form... we've got five hundred right there. Of course, then there are the Burmy forms, the different Wormadam/dom/I forgets, east and west Shellos and Gastrodons... I can go on for a while. Maybe that doesn't work, but whatever). And then there's this: Second-gen Pokémon appeared in the first movie and the orange island season. A fourth-gen Pokémon was in what was only the second third-gen movie. People thought there would be a fifth-gen Pokémon in the third fourth-gen movie, and there very well could be, but so far, nope. We might get lucky later, but I think Pokémon has an end.

Getting on topic, that makes it more likely for a Gold/Silver/Crystal remake to appear. Because since there'll be no more new generations, that means they'll do more with the Pokémon we have now.

However, GSC... they weren't the best of games. I mean, Kanto was boring. Sure, there were eight more badges to get, but that was it. If they do make a remake, they will change quite a bit (similar to FireLeafRedGreen and the Sevii Islands, which was cool).

(...they should totally merge it with Pokémon Pinball, too)

No wild Hoenn or Sinnoh pokémon why (I want to get shellos + lileep dangit!)?

Well, it should be like FireLeafRedGreen, and only encounter the Kanto and Johto pokémon first, and then the others later.

This is pretty interesting. Here are some more clues I found in Diamond and Pearl:

  • Cynthia's SecretPotion: Its in-game text says (quote from DP) "A fantastic medicine dispensed by the pharmacy in Cianwood City. It fully heals a Pokémon of any ailment." I smell a reference to Johto.
  • New Eeveelutions: Isn't it funny that Johto and Sinnoh introduced the same number of Eeveelutions? Johto introduced Espeon and Umbreon, and Sinnoh introduced Glaceon and Leafeon.
  • Pal Park Balls: (from Bulbapedia) "The Park Balls are gold and silver in color, with a light blue band across their middle that may represent the games Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal."
There seems like a big chance that Pokémon Gold and Silver would get a remake.

EDIT: Now that Platinum has been released, there are more clues!

  • Lake of Rage: Many of the cameramen in the game say that they filmed at the Lake of Rage
  • Rage Candy Bars: In the basement of the Veilstone Department Store, a lady says that she had Rage Candy Bars, but she ran out.
And that's all I could get.
