Yawning, a young teenager stretched her arms out in a tree house, being careful not to knock Tama off of her own tree branch. "Rise and shine!" she chirped, trying to stand up on her tree branch, and failing miserably. Once she had her hair all straightened up, she jumped down with her still-asleep Vulpix. "Better go check in with the family one last time, hm Tama?" Opening the door, she gazed around, then stepped inside quietly. She tiptoed her way to the kitchen, where her mom was probably making breakfast. |

Sounds from the kitchen heralded your arrival, and you pushed open the door to see your mother (er, well... maternal figure anyway) awaiting your arrival. She held out before her a steaming plate of eggs, just taken off the frying pan. "We've gotta get rid of all this extra food before you and Amber set off," she said, smiling broadly. "And you're gonna want to eat extra, because this is bound to be a strenuous day." She set the plate down on the counter with a clatter and stepped away to tend the toast that had just popped up. A knocking on the kitchen door caused you to glance over. Pushing the door open was a drowsy Amber still in her pajamas, who was rubbing her eyes and jawning widely. Her Electrike, in complete contrast, was running tight circles around her ankles and looked to be positively bursting with energy. Your mom walked over and planted a kiss on Amber's cheek, then mutely escorted her to a seat next to you and placed another plate of food down in front of her. It took the girl a couple of seconds to realize this was going on. She blinked blearily and looked at you. "What's with mom this morning? It's almost like she wants us to leave or somethin'." She stabbed her fork into a clump of scrambled eggs and chewed, still looking half-asleep. |

Crystal chuckled at the look of her half-asleep sister. Typical; Amber wasn't a morning person. Very different from her own self, who loved morning but was one of those girls who couldn't stay up past her bedtime. Even for New Year's. "Relax sis," she said, and took another bite of the eggs. Its heavenly taste flooded her senses, and she quickly took another bite, and another. The girl finally realized how much she was stuffing herself and swallowed. then she drove her fork into another piece, eager to start the process again. "Mhit mases wommerful," she said, not bothering to wait till her mouth was empty to show her thanks. |

Amber's eyelids drooped, but she caught herself before falling asleep in her eggs. "So Crys... whaddo you wanna do first when we leave the house, hm? Do we split paths, or do I have to stick with you any longer?" She chuckled to herself. "Do you wanna hang out in the town square for a little while more, perhaps, and say our goodbyes and beat up on the little kids there with our Pokemon?" This comment brought a shocked look from your mom, which took Amber a few seconds to register. "No, I didn't mean beat them up in that way, mother... Just, y'know, battle them. Experience. Stuff like that. Eh." This satisfied mom and she turned away, though still mumbling to herself. "So... what do you say?" she asked again. She stretched and arched her back so that her spine crackled, her first large display of movement this morning. |

Crystal nodded, a sparkle in her eye. "Sure, why not. You look like you need a little more time to wake, anyway," she said, chuckling. "Actually, forget 'a little'. More like a few hours, right sis?" The teenager smiled happily and gulped down a the rest of her egg, almost choking when she swallowed. Standing up, Crystal stretched and glanced at her mother. "I guess we should be heading off then," she mumbled, yawning a bit. |

Crystal's mom turned from the kitchen sink to her daughters. She looked sad, but pride and happiness glowed within her, as well. "Okay, girls... be sure to call and tell us how you're doing! Be careful out there!" She sweeped both Amber and Crystal into a hug, kissing each of them on the forehead in turn. Then she crouched down to the floor and patted Electrike and Vulpix on the head. Electrike yelped excitedly and ran over to Amber. Standing up from the table, Amber yawned noisely and gave her mother a hug. "Bye, Mom," she said, yawning again. "Thanks for the food. I'll come back to.. to..." she paused to allow another yawn, "to raid the fridge." Sitting next to the door was a black bag decorated with lines of neon green and yellow paint. Amber grabbed it and swung the strap over her shoulder, then looked back at Crystal. "You coming? I'll meet you outside." Then Amber opened the door and stepped into the sunshine, Electrike at her heels. Through the open door, houses and streets are visible, as well as several kids walking around with their Pokemon partner. Amber lazily let the door swing shut behind her. |

Crystal smiled and took a deep whiff of the familiar air. While being gone, she certainly didn't want to forget anything about her home, even its fairly non-existant smell. She turned towards her mom and gave her one last heart-felt grin. As she lowered her Vulpix to the ground, it stumbled out of her hands, barely awake. Sometimes I wonder why Amber didn't get Tama and vice versa, Crystal mused, and pulled the door open. Her curly hair bounced as she raced after Amber, starter trailing behind. |

Amber hadn't gone far when Crystal caught up to her. It looked like the bright sunlight had driven some of the sleepiness away, and she looked around at the kids with their Pokemon. "So, Crys, which of these kids do we take down first?" Electrike yelped excitedly. There were a number of kids playing with Pokemon in the street. A boy with wavy brown hair was busy throwing objects into the sky and watching his Magnemite hover upward to retrieve the ones that were magnetic. Behind him, there was a girl in a blue and yellow dress, playing hopscotch with a Meowth that sported a pink bow on top of its head. And at the edge of the clearing, there were two children with matching blonde hair and gray outfits, walking alongside a Mareep and a Pikachu. Laughter and voices rose from behind several buildings; more people were outside with their Pokemon, just hidden from view. And beyond Firelight Town, the dark, leafy branches of the Kiti Woods were visible. Vulpix halted, overwhelmed with options. She looked up to Crystal, saying, "Vul?" Amber stopped walking and turned to her. "You decide. I can't make decisions this early in the morning." |
